Maybe stop blaming governments and look to the cause of this worldwide disaster. Too unpalatable for some and far easier to blame the Tories. Boris was leading the country from his self isolation instead of resting. He wasn’t going on jaunts to his second home. As for the author of the piece, having looked at a sample of his other ‘work’, it seems he’s used the death of his brother to have another, unwarranted swipe at the Tories. Nothing about the loss of his brother can be laid at the Prime Minister’s door.

A doctor said yesterday that he’d love to be in a position and the aim is to be, where there is more equipment than we end up needing.

Watford General had a temporary fault/problem with its Oxygen supply at the end of last week, patients were redirected/transferred to nereby Hospitals, standard NHS procedure.

I acknowledge that trisher but my stance remains the same. Perhaps I should have said "unless it could be 100% proven proven that there were no ventilators or oxygen available, it's just an alarmist complaint from a grieving relative"

Maybe he should be blaming China for his brother's death, not Boris. They let the virus escape instead of containing it and closing their borders. The whole world is suffering because of their failure, never mind just his brother.

Chestnut, of course, our government dragged it's heels until it had to take action. It's been a case of playing catch up ever since. All of us could clearly see what was coming our way!

The virus was identified on 7 th January and it’s makeup was sequenced and given to the world on 23 rd January.

China went into lockdown as did Taiwan.

We all of us watched its progress. Our government runs tests on these sort of disasters, and as coincidence this sort of scenario was run in 2017. The government was advised of the shortcomings in equipment etc. They did nothing to rectify this matter.

2months passed, valuable time in Which we could have prepared ourselves as best we could. We didn’t.

If you read his reply to someone who asks specifically if Harry’s brother had no ventilation because they had none at the hospital, this is his response:

”No. He was denied a ventilator. Even before he needed one. We were told by ‘phone that that was the decision, made in advance. Along with the decision to slap a DNR on him without any discussion, much less agreement, with anyone. A cynic might wonder if that was the case because he had Downs Syndrome and was ‘economically inactive.”

Whitewavemark2 - Only Wuhan went into lockdown and flights were stopped from there when they should have stopped flights from the whole of China. They did not contain it quickly enough.

China did not go into lockdown. Chinese tourists, workers, students were still pouring into Australia and other countries long after that date.

There is a saying ‘When you have walked a mile in my moccasins you will understand’. No one, regardless of politics, would wish this illness on him, his family and on his fiancée and their unborn child. As PM he already has a heavy burden on his shoulders and in praying for his recovery, it could be said that his experience will give him a greater understanding of that which so many are experiencing - hence the meaning of the phrase I have quoted. Life is precious to us all regardless of who or what we are. Fingers crossed.

If the hospital said they had put DNR on him without discussion or agreement there has to be a reason for this. I’m sorry that this man lost his life but there is definitely more to this story. It sounds as though this was a medical decision and certainly not one caused by Tory cuts. I do know that presently the ICU at QMC are not at capacity. My brother died in December in the ICU in QMC. He was taken off a ventilator after being on one for over a week. We were all informed beforehand in person. Obviously, because of this virus patients can’t have family present but doctors don’t just allow people to die at 54 if they can save them.
