Boris..intensive care..

Boris Johnson is in intensive care, two weeks into suffering this virus. He is obviously very ill, or he wouldn’t have been admitted to hospital, transferred to IC with 24 hours.
Comments linking Johnson’s admiration for Churchill suggesting they have something in common ‘because Churchill had a bit of a drink problem’ make me despair.

What they had in common was the attempt to be a strong symbol of leadership in unprecedented times. If Mr J survives, and I sincerely hope he does, he will need a period of real convalescence. We need some real consideration to be given to whether a deputy PM should be appointed, someone who can instil more confidence than Mr Raab does . Alternatively, a government of national unity. The LP has a good leader now, the Lib Dem’s not so.

Which makes me wonder what would have happened in WW2 if Churchill had been hospitalised? although I believe he had a bit of a drink problem so maybe he and Boris are similar

I don't think you can automatically assume that the care Mr Johnson received was not sufficient. As I understand it until someone has had the virus for around the seven-day mark it is not possible to know which way it is going to go as it is only at this point it will or will not begin to affect the lungs. This may change as they understand it more I imagine.

Apparently, according to Boris, like Churchill he can drink an “awful lot” at lunch and still work afterwards. Something in common I guess...

POGS - I hope you don't think my picture was in any way attacking Boris! It's the last thing intended. It was just a bit of humour because of the Churchill comments. I was upset when he went into hospital and hope he recovers with no lasting problems. Unlike many on here I have respect for him as our hard-working PM.

I do wonder sometimes about the press reading these forums.

The last few posts seem to illustrate the misunderstanding that can arise on these threads.
I know from reading previous posts from Chestnut that she is a supporter of Boris Johnson, so I understood that her post with the photos was light hearted and well intentioned, just a bit of fun.

In no way was the post "Grans Make Fun of Boris as he Fights For Life"

I read that Boris is a fit man who plays tennis and exercises. He used to cycle around London and jogged regularly until he had problems with his knees, he also lost weight.He apparently gave up alcohol until Brexit was done and has been seen sipping a pint ?

It just can't be done can it, giving so much as even a day to not to attack a man whose health is so fragile.

Having coronavirus does not turn any human being into a saint POGS. He is very flawed but that makes him human and I am quite sure we all have sympathy for all those going through the worst of this disease and those who are caring for them and those whose balance of life is affected by this once (I hope) in a lifetime experience.

He is looked after, quite rightly because of his responsibilities, by the very best and I hope he soon recovers but that will never make me see him as the saint some are painting him to be or as anything other than the rest of those going through the same dreadful illness.

I am quite sure that Boris knew exactly what he was doing with that photo shot and it was tongue-in-cheek.

GGMK3 Martin Luther King was a womaniser and an adulterer as was JFK. Both revered as good men. I don’t see Boris as a saint but I do like him and I wish him well. I don’t dislike Jeremy Corbyn, I think he’s probably a good man but I wouldn't vote for him because I don’t agree with his politics.

I'm not too sure why you are telling me that tickingbird. I'm sure some will find it enlightening though.

Men in positions of power having feet of clay is as old as the hills. It crosses political divides, religions, creeds and cultures. Nothing news shattering there.
