I think that it simply reflects exactly how they would feel if Starmer got ill. They are are assuming that everyone else has the same lack of empathy.

Hetty58 and others, being inept at one's job to the extent that people are harmed or even lose their lives can be a punishable offence.

I think, eazybee that sitting up is the right position for someone to be in if they are struggling to breathe and need assistance.
People being ventilated may be turned on to their fronts.
Being able to communicate does not mean that someone is well on the road to recovery as one can still speak if on CPAP decide.

I'm sorry that Johnson is ill and he has as much sympathy from me as any other sufferer of this awful virus. As for leaders having "feet of clay" I think the thing about him is he is almost entirely composed of clay, he just has a veneer that makes him attractive to some people. He reminds me of what Shakespeare said "All that glisters is not gold".

Chewbacca - you are spot on, many of the greatest or most influential leaders/heroes were 'colourful' characters. Another on the list of womanisers was Lloyd George. I'm sure there are many more.
I like Boris for his enthusiasm and personality which seems to inspire people, and I'm saddened that his time in office has been blighted by this pandemic and by his own illness. This has completely blown everything that was planned when he came into office. It's a national tragedy and a personal tragedy. No PM deserves a pandemic on their watch.

So saying, for example, "I do wish my friend would not drive so fast" is a statement, whereas saying "I do love my friend but ..... wish she wouldn't drive so fast " is slightly different, qualifying the love.

I wish, along with others on here, that Boris recovers and goes home to Carrie and his family. I’m fairly sure (not 100% because I haven’t read every thread or every post) that Gransnetters all wish him well and a complete recovery. We are, on the whole, people of a certain age, we’re in an at risk group ourselves, and we’ve gained enough experience over the years hopefully, to never wish anyone anything but good. Sadly there are others that don’t have this attitude, for example the two men who have been arrested for licking their hands and smearing them over goods in the supermarket. How vile is that, even under normal times, but now!!!
I have said before, I didn’t have much time for Jeremy Corbyn, that is his politics, but I would never wish any harm on him, in particular Coronavirus. He is 70+ and in an at risk group. Stay safe Jeremy. Stay safe everyone, these are indeed scary times.
Get well Boris and go home to Carrie and your family.

maddy I think the majority of us feel the same about Boris as you feel about Corbyn - really don’t agree with or like his politics but wouldn’t wish him harm and would hope he recovers. That’s how most right minded people think and quite why anyone would claim that posters who say that are effectively liars is beyond me.

It’s just been announced as breaking news on Sky.

I was just coming on with the good news; as you say tickingbird whoop whoop. Still in hospital but obviously doing much better.

Just to add - hoping everyone else in hospital with this virus recovers and goes home to their families and loved ones.
