News tweeted by Robert Peston..poor man..hope he gets well..

GrannyGravy13 Mon 06-Apr-20 21:20:44

He is our PM, he is also a son, brother, father and partner my prayers are for all.

tinaf1 Mon 06-Apr-20 21:22:01

This is really bringing it home how awful this has become , let’s hope we can all come together and get through this , because a hell of a lot stuff seems so incidental ?

rafichagran Mon 06-Apr-20 21:23:51

I also agree MawB

I am terribly saddened to hear it but not really surprised. Boris put his duty first and worked instead of sleeping and recovering. You cannot underestimate this virus, it will take control and bring you down. Your body needs ALL its energy to fight it. I am praying he gets well soon.

I'm shocked and scared too. I'm surprised at how upset I feel.
Re govt of national unity - who exactly would people have in mind? I can't think of anyone in particular who could contribute much more than what's already going on. The top scientists, virologists, epidemiologists etc are all on board and being listened to and their recommendations acted on. They're what matters.

Pikachu Mon 06-Apr-20 21:26:55

Yes, it goes to show how the virus can take people so differently. Boris and Matt Hancock diagnosed at same time and very different outcomes. Shocking news.

MawB...as per...Brilliant post..
please let Boris be ok...cant believe how upset I am..it brings it home...but i do also really like him..
I do believe he really tries...

annep1 Mon 06-Apr-20 21:34:07

I'm sorry to hear this. Thinking of him and all his family.

SueDonim Mon 06-Apr-20 21:35:19

Very unsettling news indeed. I hope he pulls though, as I wish for any-and-everyone who has this awful disease.

LadyGracie Mon 06-Apr-20 21:38:34

I pray he pulls through, he's looked so poorly this past week, he should have taken it easy

NanTheWiser Mon 06-Apr-20 21:42:18

This was the news I dreaded hearing. This man has done so much in the short time he has been PM, we really can't afford to lose him.
I'm not usually a religious type, but I shall be praying for him and his family tonight.

POGS Mon 06-Apr-20 21:46:48

Ian Duncan Smith being interviewed on Sky news spoke with pragmatism and common sense regarding what the process will now be and we should feel grateful we live in a democratic country and not a Dictatorship.

tickingbird Mon 06-Apr-20 21:47:54

I thought he looked so unwell when he was clapping for the NHS last Thursday. I’m upset and would be regardless of what party was in government. It would be such a blow to the country if anything were to happen to our PM, and on a personal level a total tragedy for his family and partner.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 06-Apr-20 21:49:20

I absolutely agree maw

A national government makes so much sense as I fear that this is a failing government, particularly now without a leader.

It is a disaster.

NanKate Mon 06-Apr-20 21:55:03

? for Boris and his family especially Carrie and baby. It makes it all seem so real.

Bathsheba Mon 06-Apr-20 21:57:09

Yes Maw, I so agree with you. We need the best people out there, to all work together to get us through this catastrophic mess.

Sar53 Mon 06-Apr-20 22:07:53

Poor Boris, I too feel upset and wish him the very best outcome. My thoughts are with Carrie, poor lady on her own and pregnant.
We must, as a country pull together to get through this dreadful time.

Jane10 Mon 06-Apr-20 22:08:00

The best people are involved! The excellent Chris Whitty, Jenny Harries etc all working together with the other health specialists. Extra politicians could just confuse things and turn meetings into talking shops.

MiniMoon Mon 06-Apr-20 22:16:55

Oh dear, poor Boris. I pray that he will recover from this terrible virus. There is no knowing how it will affect anyone. Carrie also has symptoms of Covid 19, let's hope not as severe. God bless them both.

Smileless2012 Mon 06-Apr-20 22:19:35

Very upsetting news; praying for him and his family.

eazybee Mon 06-Apr-20 22:20:32

This is quite dreadful; the Prime Minister has worked so hard and for such a long time under such pressure; thank goodness this is such a strong government.

blondenana Mon 06-Apr-20 22:21:54

Labaik what did the russians say? i must have missed that

blondenana Mon 06-Apr-20 22:30:06

I really hope Boris pulls through, his job must be very stressful, and he shouldn't perhaps have tried to carry on,
He looked ill when he was shown clapping

travelsafar Mon 06-Apr-20 22:30:36

So so sad that poor Boris is so unwell. It made my stomach turn when I heard the news and i feel upset for him and his family. Wondering if life will ever get back to the 'normal' that we use to know sad

Barmeyoldbat Mon 06-Apr-20 22:35:22

I have never been a fan of Boris BUT I will say I wish him well, it must be a worrying time for his family. But saying this and I will probably get slagged of, he just didn't follow his own advice. He had the chance to be tested and he refused, then he didn't keep social distance. Its a lesson for all of us. Anyway I hope he recovers soon.
