Tin of soup .... and I carried it around for weeks after I found it
The land is dry, and the people are ...stupid?
My handbag is usually a mess, filled with receipts, hankies, hair clips and all the usual rubbish but I’ve just found something unusual at the bottom of it.
Half a cooked fish finger !
No idea how it got there or how long it’s been there !
Anybody else had a visit from the fish finger fairy ?
Tin of soup .... and I carried it around for weeks after I found it
Oh !!!
It had no smell. It appeared dessicated
Love that Dowsabella! I once spent 2 hours searching for my disabled bus pass as i had an hosp appt(my son wasnt a driver then though he was still at high school) i searched everywhere, then eventually found it in pocket of a coat id ALREADY searched at beginning! So thats why now EVERYTHING goes in the huge bag...i did find a fiver though in pocket of a coat id not worn for over a year ?
You didn't know how long it has been there? The 'pong' would have alerted me. Not what you call 'usual'
where handbag fragrance is concerned.
I still keep all my usual tat in my bag(very large tote bag) even though not been out since lockdown started.and every night drag it upstairs& bring it down every day! Thing is you never know if your going to need whats in? My purse with bank cards,(still some need details online) my pills( i take several a day) my little note book with allsorts scribbled in or to 'add to', my tablet computer my smartphone, tiny brush, tissues, last of my hand gel,pens...the lists endless.and i like them all in one place, rather than cluttering everywhere else& scrabbling looking for them when needed...theres often a foodie item in there, but only when i used to go out- i once got a turkey/stuffing sandwich on way to my DD house,as we'd travelled 72 miles to visit, and i dumped bag outside downstairs loo& rushed straight in.by time i came out her old dog had snuffled it out, ripped paper bag open& wolfed it down
.i forgave her,as she'd never done it before, sadly shes now passed away.but we still smile over it
Many years ago I went to pay my bus fare and offered the driver my emergency tampax! Nearly got off the bus....
Mr Swizz is putting up a robust defence as due to his memory problems he (rightly) is the first of the household to fall under suspicion.
He is pointing the finger ( human not haddock ) at Whisky Woo, the semi feral cat that has recently adopted us.
Earlier this week I was sitting in the garden and saw WW appear over the garden wall carrying a live mouse. He was heading to the kitchen at speed and it was only by some deft manoeuvring with my Argos old biddy grabbers that I stopped him.
However I still don’t understand how even a cat as smart and streetwise as this old rogue could manage to undo the zip on my bag.
My money is still on The Swizz. And I’m sure it’s his fault the downstairs loo is broken !
Not a handbag story, but one about the logic of very young children. A while ago when I was visiting DD, my son-in-law couldn't find his rail season ticket. He was really worried as it was in a wallet with all his credit and debit cards. This was around 9.00pm, and he had to leave to catch the 6.00am train for London. We searched the house to no avail, so eventually we pooled all our cash and he bought a day return. When DD came to make DGS's bed, she found the lost ticket in the wallet with the cards under his pillow. On being questioned, he said he'd put it there to keep it safe.........
Oh Yuk Jackie. I usually have a few golf tees and ball markers - what a saddo.
As my mother got older she had less interest in eating, but I discovered that if I took her to the John Lewis at high Wycombe, not only did she love the drive there but, after a little look around we would go upstairs and have lunch. She would finish her lunch and ask (every single time) if I was going to finish mine. The staff would kindly wrap the other half of my (baguette, sandwich or something) and she would happily put it in her handbag for later. On several occasions I found horribly mouldy leftovers in her handbag. Thank goodness the food bags were sturdy!
Had a clutch that I used for special occasions. Got it out for one such evening to find a napkin full of fillet steak bits I had ferreted away at my last "special occasion" for my dogs and cats! Rather green with mould! Needless to say that was the end of that clutch bag!
Years ago when I was changing my teenage daughter’s bed I found her filthy muddy rugby boot in it. It hadn’t bothered her one bit, in fact she hadn’t even noticed it was in there!
I've found a cooked sausage in the bedroom, courtesy of one of the grandchildren I hope.
I used to keep a spare pair of knickers in my bag, you know, as a 'just in case' precaution. Until one day visiting relatives and having put my bag on the floor, their dog was seen dragging them round the floor, having gone on a visit of exploration in the dark depths of my bag!

It's a good thing the police weren't stopping and searching grannies that day!
Gangsta Granny
This is the best laugh I have had all week - thanks everyone!
Before I was married I got home from work, started to get ready to go out and found a bus ticket inside my tights, on the back of my leg against my calf. I had travelled home by bus but as I hadn't got undressed during the journey and certainly didn't have any kind of 'special' relationship with the bus conductor I cannot fathom that one to this day!
Reminds me of when my DD was toddling. I used to carry one of those oversized handbags that were all the rage at the time. One day it Dawned on me that said hand bag was heavier than it should have been. On looking inside I discovered a whole lot of stones and pebbles at the bottom. My DD had a habit of picking them up and the prettiest of them she handed to me to save for her. I’d put them in my bag thinking I’d get rid of them later since as soon as they entered my bag DD promptly forgot about them as of course did I, hence humping around half a ton of aggregate for weeks. Strangely enough the bad shoulder I had developed at the time suddenly disappeared soon after I emptied the bag!
Apologies - neither mine nor DD's
Cheered me up no end ladies!

I found a large table knife in my shopping bag. It's neither mine or DD's, so unlikely to have been put there by DGC. It's waiting to be claimed in my cutlery drawer.
On a bit of a different note. Received a grocery delivery in these uncertain times - no fresh fish but a box of 30 fish fingers. Haven't had any for years, will make a nice change. Maybe it was the fish finger fairy!! Love all the posts.
My husband, as a joke, thought he’d put a crabs claw he had found on the beach in my handbag while on holiday. It took me three days to discover it by which time it smelt so bad I had to throw the bag away. Another time he put a potato in my bag which I carried around for a week !
Mine's very tidy.
?????????
Only because I cleared it out recently on the paracetamol hunt. I found six!
And I haven't been anywhere since.
I must admit the contents nearly filled the kitchen table.
I found a few missing items.
I carry a small handbag so am unlikely to find some of the items you lovely ladies have discovered.
Although, I haven't used handbag for 3 weeks since being banished to work from home, so wonder if I should check the contents just in case
I cleaned out my bag one November morning . I found 5 substantial smooth pebbles collected from the beach that summer ..
