This is a fun post. Please don't criticise posters for not taking lockdown seriously.

I never thought I'd say this but I'm missing garden centres.

Friday fish and chip takeaway - my only night off from cooking usually!
Usual chippy is still open on reduced hours (they have a window on to the street that they serve through) son is working from home at the moment, so pointless for him to travel to the chip shop when he'd usually pick up the fish and chips on the way home from work

Obviously missing the grandchildren but they live near the sea and I love to walk along the front listening to the waves

GrannySomerset Thu 16-Apr-20 10:24:01

Yes, it’s the feeling that we can’t do something which is so wearing. Apart from the family, none of whom we have seen this year, I miss the garden centre, coffee out and stopping to chat when out in the village. I realise that people fight wars for these small freedoms - never mind the larger ones.

I miss just being able to go out and not worry that I may have caught the dreaded virus. Also I miss feeling free to visit friends for coffee or just go to the shops for something unimportant.
At least we are all in the same boat.

I am missing my holiday to a beach hut on Dunster Beach with my dh, dd and 2 dogs which we should have been on right now. Hopefully, next year.
The one thing I am missing like a hole in the head are the constant phone calls from our business, currently closed, with someone always complaining about something no matter how trivial such as the showers take too long to get hot etc. Just realised I have forgotten what they all were!

Chewbacca Thu 16-Apr-20 10:21:09

Normal every day life and the people who are in it.

crimpedhalo Thu 16-Apr-20 10:19:57

I miss my husband going for a regular walk when he's on his weekly steroids!! Lol I have dislocated little toe so I miss my car journey to shop with trolley to support. I usually shop alone....again to distance myself from the weekly steroid moods. But this too will end. We also miss our weekly visits to the garden centres....waiting for our newly planted baskets to grow like last year's.

Henny2020 Thu 16-Apr-20 10:17:03

I am desperate to go to Hobbycraft. I don't even particularly like Hobbycraft - so I have no idea why!

Apart from that I miss days out in my convertible car - if I could I would go to the coast, to Wisley and to Slimbridge.

timetogo2016 Thu 16-Apr-20 10:16:31

Weve already lost our free speech and loosing our freedom takes the biscuit.
But it does keep us safe i suppose.
I want to see a light at the end of the tunnel TBH.
Stay safe all.

Crazygran Thu 16-Apr-20 10:12:14

Fish and chip takeaway ?

Scottiebear Thu 16-Apr-20 10:09:48

Going out for lunch or dinner. Garden centres. Freedom.

ginny Thu 16-Apr-20 09:44:26

Family and friends goes without saying.
The freedom to go where I want , when I want. To be spontaneous.

Eglantine21 Thu 16-Apr-20 09:28:42

I’m not exactly missing it but I’ll be really, really happy if the kissy, kissy, huggy, huggy culture has gone forever!

Oh how I hate being clutched by mere acquaintances.

I gave up going to church when they insisted on the kiss of peace. I went there to get in touch with God not other people........

Missfoodlove Thu 16-Apr-20 09:26:50

Seeing my children and granddaughter. Nothing else matters.

Jane10 Thu 16-Apr-20 09:16:42

Whatever we're missing it's going to feel strange being out and about again. I think I'm going to feel odd going into crowded places like shops etc. But I'll do it. We'll really need to get out there supporting businesses as they creep open. I've saved money over the lockdown as there's been only food and the usual direct debits to pay. I'm going to force myself to spend money (which goes against the grain!) as my tiny bit to help to get the economy going again.

farview Thu 16-Apr-20 09:13:23

I'm missing "normality "...just being me and doing what I do....agree with Gabriella..re things may never really be as they were..hard to shrug off some the things we have to put into practice now...

Pittcity Thu 16-Apr-20 09:11:10

Being able to make plans.

MerylStreep Thu 16-Apr-20 09:09:03

For me, I think Lucca got it in one, variety.

sodapop Thu 16-Apr-20 08:58:21

You are right GabriellaG54 it's just missing the freedom to go anywhere and do all the usual things we enjoy. Not major things, a meal with friends, walking by the lake with the dogs etc.

TwiceAsNice Thu 16-Apr-20 08:54:10

The garden centre., never got around to getting new plants before lockdown

The hairdresser- hair beginning to look ridiculous!

My lovely farm shop and a coffee there afterwards

Browsy shopping in general

Being able to drive my car. It’s been sat in its space for 4 weeks now. Worried about it doing that!

Not being able to go back to Wales to see my friends. I feel sorry especially for my friend she had a new grandson 7 months ago and now she can’t see him

kittylester Thu 16-Apr-20 08:52:36

You beat me to it dragonfly.

I'd love to walk up the village high st, buy flowers, pop in to the gift shop, chat to people I bump into.

GabriellaG54 Thu 16-Apr-20 08:51:03

By the time this is a memory, we will have been so inculcated into some of the rules we now have to abide by, that they will be impossible to shrug off.
I, for one, will not miss hugging friends or shaking hands with strangers.
What I do miss is the freedom to go anywhere, the beach, a train ride, open gardens, sitting by the river without being moved on.
When these freedoms are available we don't necessarily avail ourselves of them, but we can if we want to...at any time.
It's the fact that we can't now do these things which makes them more desirable.

Curlywhirly Thu 16-Apr-20 08:49:56

Apart from family - oh I do miss shopping! Even food shopping, I just love to browse and see what takes my fancy. Have just made a list of food and drink that I need, as my son is going to the supermarket tomorrow for me - I'm really envious of him? Also miss being able to drive out to take the dog on one of the lovely Cheshire country walks in our area and calling into a pub for a well-earned drink at the end of the walk.

Witzend Thu 16-Apr-20 08:49:43

Ditto to the garden centre.
Apart from that, seeing the family/grandchildren is all I’m really missing. Though although I’m def. not a person who goes shopping for fun, I do miss being able to go and buy something I need (or really want) rather than ordering online, having to wait for delivery and then ‘quarantining’ the parcel.
But God bless our postmen/delivery drivers!

Parky Thu 16-Apr-20 08:47:19

Going in the car to somewhere different for a walk. Oh and the hairdresser!
