Marydoll that's disgusting that someone in the queue at Morrison's got fined, it's ridiculous! There's a Tesco store a little (and I mean little) nearer than Sainsbury's is to us and if I could go out and shop it certainly would not be in that Tesco store. Many years ago now I had a seizure in the store and the way I was treated by security there was tantamount to criminal. I refuse to go back in that store.
My group quiz to enjoy today, a 3 way "marathon" text ( not my words, my great nephew's) and a long (always long) phone chat with my WP'S sister today. Making a quiche for dinner later and I'll see if I've got the time, and inclination, to finish my latest non-artistic artwork.

Good Morning All from the Southside of Glasgow where the sun is shining if rather chilly. Just back from my morning walk around the park where the swan is still on her nest and my favourite dog (bar one) is playing hide and seek with his owner which amuses me greatly. My Border Terrier is too old now for a long walk with me so she has to have her exercise before I attempt mine. I hope I get the duster out today but I am not holding my breath. We are actually shielding (my husband) and following the rules set down in the letter, not been out since 17March when he was rushed to hospital, fortunately for just a week, also not seen anyone other than lovely post lady and on line shopping delivery people at a recommended distance. Why do I get the feeling other people don’t think this is how it should be interpreted. Also sleeping apart after nearly 60 years?) This was supposed to be for 12 weeks so now 3 weeks extra , do we add that on, I’m confused, help.......

Oops sorry I forgot to say from Fife it’s a little chilly this morning it usually gets a little warmer here in the afternoon fingers crossed

Cool and cloudy here on the Costa Mersey. A bit of a come-down from the beautiful mornings we came to expect. Ah well.

Much the same day as any other except that there's no need to visit the corner shop. Marydoll reminded me about how the police are more visible everywhere, looking out for those who renege.

When I'd nipped out yesterday a police van came out of a side road as I was about to cross and my legs went to jelly in case I was stopped. It was quite unnerving and made me feel a bit " off " for the rest of the day---guilty conscience. For shopping ! My nerves will be shot after all this I felt like a naughty child.

Ah, Dragonfly, that poor dog. I don't like to see poorly animals it upsets me. I do hope he improves during this worrying time for his and of course for your sake.
The old stray Tom that lives in a kennel outside has got an injured front leg and it just " waggles " without touching the ground, but doesn't stop him from eating ! Probably hit by a car at sometime. He's quite old now.

Hoping Gillybob and Co. are alright. This lockdown isn't doing anyone any good at all, though admittedly, better than the alternative, but times are hard for many.

Elizabeth1, I don't eat beyond 6pm for the reason that you mentioned, it's not worth the discomfort etc. digestive system slows down. You'll be okay later.

Good morning from green trees but grey skies in Cornwall. Still trying to recover from seeing DD breakdown last night on FaceTime as she had a baby one week ago and none of us have been able to see her?????? she is having a bad time with breastfeeding and I’d so much like to go over and give her a big hug.
To distract myself I’ll be finishing off some gardening, mainly planting kale and doing a bit more mulching.
I made more nettle beer yesterday so I’m going to put this in a demijohn for fermenting.
Tonight there is the big Family Quiz to look forward too with crisps and beer at this end. We are then going to start watching Killing Eve from the beginning.

I love the scrambled vegetables too Urmston. I do think you should give them a try.

Morning Everyone ! Seems as if everywhere is promising rain, or just grey skies today. Well done for being organised, Mick - curry almost always cheers!

It's warm here in the S of F - well, it was yesterday too but in the p.m., we lit the wood burner for a bit of cheer when the sun disappeared! It's overcast today, unfortunately.

Do you think that your delivery service would class us as being in their neighbourhood, Urms ? Could always do with some "scrambled vegetables"
Sounds as if you are in a better frame of lockdown mind today. Do hope so. Think you are particularly strong to cope with being cooped up for so long, not your main home, with no outside space, no walkies, and sometimes.....no food! So, very 'well done' you - and hope you enjoyed your 'steak'. (See what I did there?)

It's filet for us today with a special bottle and all the trimmings. Last ate steak maybe a year or more ago, so that'll make a nice change. Maybe some smoked haddock pâté for starters and certainly my widely-promised (on Gransnet at least!!!) Banoffee Pie. Just off to make the pastry. Couldn't get digestive biscuits so some shortcrust will do just as well. And so we will have a feast to celebrate DH's birthday today and toast our continuing bravery in the face of the unknown....and we'll vow to do something special whenever/if we escape.

Shopping went well yesterday - apart from the digestives. I received an Easter egg in the bottom of one of the bags! Don't laugh...I have been banging on about Easter eggs since we had nothing to share over Easter. We also now have extra chocolate. For some reason too, a wonderful bag of 15 lemons. What? I asked. We can always drink more G&T's, I was told. Lemon meringue pie will be involved soon, I think. Also, some lemon curd for scones. Your description of your labour intensive/scary shopping trip had me in fits, Pantglas. Doesn't it just take forever ! That'll be it now for another 2 weeks, I think.

Really upset to hear about Dexter, dragonfly - that's awful. Keep hanging in there, and hopefully the Vet will have assured you he's tried everything and given it his all, before making any drastic decisions, don't you think? Please get well, Dexter, and be a very good boy during your treatment.

Sad to hear about Brunette, Marydoll. No one needs to be made miserable - especially for their opinion, especially if they are not 'troublemakers' .....and especially now! We all have enough to be upset about. I never read or contributed to that thread but read it from start to finish yesterday. I didn't think it was nasty - some stuff on GN is horrendous. However, Brunette's complaint seemed to have been taken as a wind-up and people responded accordingly, maybe. Or that's how it seemed to me. And of course things in print can get so out of hand unless people are very careful as to how they choose their words. It appeared to be - in the main - comments about the joys and benefits of horse poo for the garden. If you know that she's a sensitive and kind soul, it's sad that she feels she can't post again. Give it a go, Brunette, it's not like you've behaved badly and have something to apologise for. Don't feel belittled or excluded - you expressed an opinion, that's all. And it was about horse poo, nothing even slightly confrontational. Please post again, there are some lovely people on this thread who would love to know that you'll change your mind.

Glad that gilly surfaced. Shame that she's probably been to hell - and back - so many times in the last months, that she possibly feels she's run out of steam and comments. So hard to make supportive noises to people when you just can't change or take away the problems. Feel better and take comfort from your lovely family, gilly

Megs, as long as you and your DH have not been in contact with anyone else, you don't need to stay apart.
I have been sheilding since the beginning of March and DH and I have had no contact with anyone, no-one has been in our home, parcels and shopping are left on the door step and then sanitised.
The sheilding letter states that if you are sheilding and you live with someone who has to go out, then you must stay apart, sleep in separate rooms, use a different bathroom, towels etc.
However, if you and your husband have been alone for weeks, with no outside contact, there shouldn't be a problem.
My husband has chosen not to go out, in case he compromises me, to keep me safe.
This sheilding is causing so much anxiety for people.

There are lots of groups on Facebook that your daughter might find helpful with breastfeeding advice.Not the same as having her mum but both my daughters got lots of encouragement and support from these groups.Not sure what the groups are called but if your daughter can’t find them let me know and I will ask my daughters which ones they recommend.

The bike ride went well, no pain in my calf and I didn’t fall off. The pooch was glad to get out until she realised it was raining then she wanted to come back in. We did 20 minutes so that will do for today.
I love reading this thread in the late morning when everyone has posted, what a friendly, active thread it is. What a variety of people we all are, probably never the twain would meet in ‘real’ life. ?

That shielding sounds horrendous, though it must be done. I can't imagine not doing what I do and that's nipping to the corner shop as and when. I'd feel really restricted beyond words.
It does make you appreciate that you're not in the same situation yourself, in every way. I'm so thankful.

Good Morning from a rainy Black Country,

Decided to go for a walk yesterday, first time out since 18th March. It was weird, everything so quiet, hardly any traffic etc. We walked to our local park and back. Took just over an hour.

Had a WhatsApp from my niece who is in Australia till October. Because of the time difference she managed to get a Tesco slot for my 90 year old Mum for 8th May! I am amazed really that she has had no contact from anyone in officialdom? At least my DD is only 10 minutes drive from her. Nieces Whats App's came through at 3am, luckily I had my phone switched off.

NanKate I would like to be a fly on the wall in your house today . When we have anything new in technology, it takes us a while to figure everything out. Even the new Dishwasher had us flumoxed for a while!

Good morning from a grey and chilly Newcastle. My day has just been made considerably brighter by a long-awaited parcel delivered by our wonderful postie dressed as Spiderman. Yesterday he was a ladybird complete with fairy wings. It is a small but heart warming thing to do.
I slept badly last night and found myself thinking about gillybob and how unfair it is that she is going through such a very difficult and stressful time.
dragonfly I do hope Dexter's eye heals - poorly animals are so upsetting.
I hope everyone has the best day they possibly can - I've decided to be a bit lazy today - well it is the weekend.
