I've discovered my "default" setting.......

And I'm ashamed to say it's "bone idle" combined with more than a touch of CBA blush

Yes, I clean the kitchen, bathroom, Hoover etc, but have I sorted out the spare room? Have I buffalo!

Have I used this extra time to up my non existent "beauty" regime, by applying moisturiser after my shower? Erm, judging by the dinosaur skin on my arms and legs, it would appear not.

Have I sorted through that drawer full of photos, or the one with various odds and ends of make up, or that glass pot on the dressing table full of earrings?

No, no and no again!

I am hopeless!

I don't know!

I've been peeling the last of the veg ready for tomorrow before the grocery order comes later today, making an attempt at onion bhajis, Bombay potatoes for tonight.

I've only made them once before and can't find the recipe. And have no more onions until the order comes - will two be enough?

I might attempt to trim my fringe today, but then again...........

However I have cooked & mashed the swede, made a broccoli cheese, ready for Sunday lunch.

Why do I spend time doing stuff on Saturday, so that I don't have to do it on Sunday confused

Callistemon Sat 23-May-20 13:10:57

?

I can't even be bothered to touch my toes today!

Marmight Sat 23-May-20 12:51:18

Mea culpa. I have sinned. I hacked down a hedge yesterday, teetering on top of a step ladder and then I de-weeded between paving slabs on the hideous patio I inherited with the house. It took me all afternoon, but I am atoning today. Still in bed. A lot of nothingness in prospect although I will have to get up soon for food. I may even touch my toes - because I can ?

Callistemon Tue 19-May-20 14:49:30

Did a bit, not didn't!

Callistemon Tue 19-May-20 14:49:02

I didn't bit of weeding and deadheading, tied up a clematis.

That used up about 15 calories.

I haven’t moved from the sofa since eating breakfast 3 hours ago. Chatted to DH, had another cuppa, FaceTimed dd2, browsed internet looking for possible replacement for my iPad mini and I have lengthy WhatsApp call this afternoon with my two best friends. Oh and I’ve also checked the news, Facebook and Gransnet! I think I’ve been really busy this morning!gringrin

Well, I've tried to touch my toes twice now! So much effort...

I think I'll make a coffee and have a rest.

Callistemon Tue 19-May-20 10:31:31

Yes, I can Missedout I was getting DH to try too as revenge for him laughing when I pitched forward to help his back.
He has never been able to. I think I have long arms!

You have to come up very slowly, Marmight, slide hands up shins.

Witzend Tue 19-May-20 10:28:22

Me too, Marmight - arms like an orang-utan.

Marmight Tue 19-May-20 09:29:42

I can touch my toes with my legs straight but I have very long arms. (Anyone remember Twizzle?) I do have a bit of a problem becoming upright though

Witzend Tue 19-May-20 09:28:53

I did briefly emerge from my default setting yesterday and shampooed the sitting and dining room carpets - long overdue.

The colour of the water in the dirty water tank was not a sight for the faint of heart - so I saved it to show dh (just emerging from his lair aka study for lunch) before pouring it down the sink. ?
Hall carpet is also long overdue for shampooing, but I didn’t want to overdo it, shall do that tomorrow.

Missedout Tue 19-May-20 09:22:52

Callistemon, can you touch your toes keeping your legs straight? I have never been able to (not in living memory anyway), my hamstrings have always been tight.

I've been practicing Pilates for some time but my toes are always just out of reach!

Callistemon Mon 18-May-20 23:00:02

Ps I can still touch my toes!!

Re the garden yoga incident, Callistemon

Bellanonna Mon 18-May-20 22:55:38

?

Callistemon Mon 18-May-20 22:52:28

I dd think I'd have to make DH a loaf today to keep him quiet but only have GF bread flour - he looked at me in horror.

Luckily, nice next door neighbour came to his rescue and brought him one when she did her shopping.

phoenix Mon 18-May-20 22:48:28

Loving your style, Callistemon! grin

Callistemon Mon 18-May-20 22:43:28

I did some yoga yesterday in the garden ?‍♀️

It wasn't intentional, as I went to bend over to pull a weed I seemed to pitch forward so thought I'd lie there for a bit, stretch and reach some weeds. Then had to do 'the dog' and shuffle a bit to get up again.

Sunny82z Mon 18-May-20 22:34:53

Absolutely Phoenix, with due care and crampons it could be reached, however closing the curtains could be entirely another matter involving a rope and hoistwine

phoenix Mon 18-May-20 21:28:55

Sunny82z Your mention of the spare room, I'm fairly certain there's a bed in there, well, somewhere..........

Sunny82z Mon 18-May-20 21:02:08

Thank heavens for those who aren't doing dawn 'til dusk yoga/bread making/zooming. I started this LD with the best of intentions, honest; sort attic, do something with Mother's extensive sewing kit (she's been dead 10 years) and "pleased to see me" wardrobe in spare room. Sadly some time around week 2 of LD my get up and go got up and went.

I have cleaned the inside of the conservatory windows but frankly with the prospect of not actually being able to see out of them it was a bit essential, problem is I can now see the garden and this is not good. I did go and have a look at the spare room and decided in an emergency a guest could get to the bed with caution. On another day I pulled down the ladder to the attic stuck my head above the parapet when I got to the top had a think and came back down again. I did some washing hung it out on the line and then put it in the laundry bag and then in shed for collection by the ironing lady and retreated to the sofa with tea and Turkish delight for a well earned lie down.and

I fear this indolence maybe rubbing off on the dog, on today'swalk
when I threw his favourite fetch toy Mr hoppy, he gave me a why sort of look, finally picked it up and trotted off in the direction of home. Spent the rest of the day in his basket.

Good heavens. It’s the 17th already. I had my bike serviced last week ready for use but I’m not quite ready to stir myself. I need a trial run, on my own with nobody about in case I make a fool of myself blush. Yesterday I attacked my bedroom which was becoming a bit of a hovel and I’ve just ironed a huge duvet cover which was washed on the 5th. Apart from that, & ‘celebrating’ a lockdown birthday, not much achieved in Marmight Mansions. Another week of nothingness ahead. As my body expands, my brain is atrophying.

gulligranny Tue 12-May-20 22:12:42

NanKate, yes it was absolutely gorgeous thanks! Lucky to have inherited my mum's "pastry hands" ...

NanKate Tue 12-May-20 21:55:03

When you finished the ironing Gully could you make me a chicken and leek pie you were telling me about on the phone today. I have been thinking of your supper ever since. Was it delicious, I’m sure it was ?
