My garden has become my 'part time' job. I am out there for up to 4/5 hours a day. I am loving it but wonder how i managed before with just the odd hour here and there. I usually play bowls and the season starts this month and the garden would have taken back place. I have trays of seedlings all flourishing in the greenhouse, beets, spring onions and lettuce in the garden, runner bean sticks up and waiting for the plants i am slowly hardening off each day{havent risked leaving them outside at night yet} lots of cherry tomato plants all potted up , far too many for me but i will leave some on the front garden for passers by to take rather than waste them. Usually gave them to bowls club members and family. Yesterday i potted on 22 Dahlias and i have trays of astors, aubretia and French marigolds. I am sure my garden will be the best it has ever been, thanks to the wondeerful weather and this free time. Just planted out 6 carnation plants, these were grown from cutting from a bunch my son gave me for Mother's day last year and i have nutured them until they were big enough to brave the great outdoord. No housework done again this week so far apart from kitchen, bathroom and laundry. So like others my drawers are still messy, my wardrobe still full of clothes i dont wear and the suitcases on the top of wardrobes are still full of summer clothes i have yet to get out and wash!!!!

I'm in with the busy doing nothing club although today I've excelled myself so far by making 2 cakes & a casserole & doing a load of washing AND hanging it out to dry. Meanwhile, Graffa C has been up since 7 and outside busy in the garden and in his shed, he is never still and has always got plenty he can be getting on with. I get tired just watching him. We now have a cooked meal at lunchtime & a chat followed by Father Brown on tv when usually one but more often both of us fall asleep. Then maybe I'll go for a walk outside or do Walk at Home with Leslie & her gang then before you know it, it's time for Pointless. All makes work for the working man to do....!

I said to my ES the other day. 'I cleaned a light switch for the first time in my life recollection. Should I be worried?' His reply was that he would only ever worry if I suggested being happy dusting. So there! He is front line NHS

Lovely and reassuring thread. Forced myself to hang out three loads of washing, then tackled kitchen floor and cleaned bathrooms. Totally overcome now and, apart from a short walk with DH, plan to sit in the garden with Hilary Mantel and a clear conscience. Whoever said “the less you do, the less you want to do” had it right.

AGAA4 my washing machine plays a tune when it’s finished a cycle and b****y plays ‘Busy Doing Nothing’ - so rude!!

It's amazing what you find when /if you do start tidyng. Found a gold watch that I thought was lost some old photos of a younger me and younger hubby . Some love letters to me from DH and lots of other stuff . Plenty of junk though and nowhere to dispose of it. Garage is filling up.

Oh goody I'm glad I'm not the only one who's "busy doing nothing" - I have a daughter who is now working from home and then clearing out cupboards etc and suggesting I do the same - luckily she cant visit so doesn't know my place looks just like it did before the lockdown - long may it last !

So pleased there are so many people who are busy doing not much. When all this started I signed up for everything in sight and had so many things lined up to do but didn’t want to do it all at once in case I didn’t have anything to do if we were in it for the long haul. Well I haven’t done anything, the ukulele is still in its case, the crochet blanket is still balls of wool. I spent several pleasant mornings with Jo Wicks but I have got fed up with that now. I have started making an effort to remember what day and date it is as we hadn’t got a clue (does that count as exercise?

Today is the day to procrastinate!

We’ve sidled into a lockdown laziness. Taking the dogs for a walk is a Big Job. I’m altering some curtains that should take an hour and a half max, but it’s day 3 now that they’ve been in a state of ‘nearly there’ and it doesn’t matter that the dining table is a total tip with it all. I’ve got loads to do but I work best to deadlines and there isn’t one in sight!

I've been in the bone idle club since I retired. Fortunately DH has interited the housework gene from his mother and is scurrying around as I write.
I'm surprised that our vacuum cleaner hasn't died of exhaustion. He's just shampood the seats of the kitchen chairs - who knew that this was possible?!
Our outside paving has been powerwashed, he's watering the outdoor plant containers and is also working his way through painting the window sashes. I'm wracking my brain to think of something for his next job. Any suggestions?

Have written lists for years..... most of the items still outstanding at the end of the day
Then I found a lovely girl to help me do a 'Deep clean' She tipped everything out of drawers and off the shelves to clear away the spiders lurking behind them. Huge assorted piles lying in the centre of each room.
Then came lock-down and she had to leave. I have restarted my lists but including all the junk she had disturbed

I told one of my daughters that I felt despondent at achieving nothing each day. She agreed to help
.... and wrote 'Breathe' on the end of each list so that I had something to tick off at the end of the day

G’netters be careful about neglecting your appearance if like me you are on Facebook. Last week quite by surprise friends came through with a video call on messenger. I do my makeup and hair every day, but was very scruffily dressed and they are the sort of people who are always pristine. Luckily I happened to be sitting with a blank wall and door behind me. They havnt been to our home and would be shocked at the untidiness, no not because we are in lockdown, it’s always like that.

I've said it before (Covid-19) and I'll say it again: "Sometimes I sits and thinks; and sometimes I just sits"... Nothing much has changed...

Is there enough room on the sofa for another lazy article? I'll plump up a cushion.

Yes, lazy, that's definitely me. I've done one job today - loaded the washing machine and then hung it out - should I count that as two jobs just to make it sound more virtuous?

I've prepared breakfast and lunch and washed up but they're everyday jobs so I don't really count them. Shall I do anything else today, apart from a little walk? No, I won't. I'll do a bit of sewing and reading, then feet up in front of the telly.

Tomorrow, I will clean all of this home,
Tomorrow, I will in the garden roam,
Tomorrow, is the day that I will bake,
Tomorrow is the day I won't eat cake...
But, tomorrow: it's a long, long time away...

I had 2 cups of tea in bed. Got up at 10am and got dressed. Himself made us both a fried egg on toast and coffee. I continued to read and post on GN plus looking on line at the newspapers.

It’s now after midday (here in Spain). Wowzer!

I do the minimum housework at the best of times, and that is cheerfully offset with actually going OUT and having fun - when I can. But now all we have to do (most of the time) is housework! is it any wonder that we can't face it? I'm in the middle of doing a jigsaw which I'm enjoying, and then am going to pick out a DVD to watch tonight. And housework can wait until tomorrow - and that includes all those cupboards that "i'll get around to sorting out". I tell myself that we need to balance the boring stuff with the fun stuff (if there is any).

So pleased to hear I'm not the only bone idled person who CBA.

You see if I get some rubbish bags ready for the tip - it's not open. Some bags for the charity shops - they're not open.

I know, I know I could store them - but because I'm a bit of a hoarder, I'd probably go through the bags and rescue things.

My get up and go has got up and gone, where to? Probably hiding in all the things I dream of sorting.
