Here we are again...all good pals and jolly good company.

WELCOME. Enjoy the treats on offer. All food virtually calorie-free. No washing of dishes permitted. Please relax and we'll raise a glass of cheer to each other. brew cafe wine Cheers!

soop Sun 24-May-20 13:11:31

I have thanked you for your uplifting message, Izabella, only for some strange reason, the screen went blank and the message disappeared into the ether. So, thank you yet again.

Susan It's when sleep evades you that any concerns are magnified. Your family have every right to be furious. I certainly am on little Henry's behalf.

Doodle Perhaps the very thought of being admitted to our poorly male ward helps to speed up Mr Doodle's recovery.

Smileless flowers. I am happy for you.

soop Sun 24-May-20 13:14:42

Here is last night's silver-lined cloud for you lovely lot.

dragonfly46 Sun 24-May-20 13:20:39

Sorry to hear about your DH's accident Doodle I too must have missed it.

Maw that comment was indeed uncalled for and insensitive but I believe there is an apology further down the thread. You are right to be upset, however.

Izabella I hope you find Alexa useful. We have one in the kitchen which we studiously ignore. It seemed a good idea at the time.

It is very quiet here in the Dragonfly cocoon. I have cleaned the kitchen, hoovered and washed the floor knowing there will be no little doggy coming in bringing leaves etc. We are missing him but realise that getting a dog full time would curtail our very few activities in the long run.
Dexter was not as happy to go home as I expected and apparently took sometime to settle but I am sure he will be fine.

annodomini Sun 24-May-20 13:46:08

soop, I hope that silver lining brought you a better day as I understand the NW of Scotland was taking a beating. Yesterday my trees were swaying left to right which meant a south wind; today they seem to be doing the opposite!
Still haven't made that orange drizzle cake, Izabella. My oven was occupied by my bread, which has worked out very appetizing.
As I couldn't find anything else to add to my (weekly) bath, I put in a glug of teatree oil and now the house smells of it, and so do I. I wonder how long it will take to wear off. hmm

Susan56 Sun 24-May-20 14:17:34

Poor old Dexter probably realises you spoil him dragonfly!Glad he is settled now.

I thought I would share this picture with you.My daughters met up yesterday and as you can see little B was very happy to see his ‘big’cousin Matilda??

Smileless2012 Sun 24-May-20 14:54:43

Afternoon ladies.

soop could be right about Mr. Doodle's recovery being aided by the thought of going to the kitchen's 'poorly male ward' Doddle. The suggestion worked wonders for Mr. S. when he came back from hospital following surgery; he came on leaps and boundsgrin.

Thank you soopsmile.

It's good to hear that Dexter's settled back home dragonfly. You're bound to miss himsad. Dogs without a doubt impact on doing other things. If we want to go out for a day, we're fortunate that our lovely girls next door pop round, take them for a walk and give them cuddles. Holidays are never booked until arrangements for them have been made.

I bet your skin is lovely and soft annodomini having added tea tree oil to your bath; lovely.

What a lovely photo Susansmile

We had a lovely chat for an hour with our son in Aus. gosh, I really miss himsad.

soop Sun 24-May-20 14:56:13

Susan Thank you for sharing the delightful reunion between "little B" and "big cousin Matilda". It is a very special moment, captured for all time.

dragonfly You and the vet saved Dexter's life. You have a special bond. He's now where he belongs and you have your memories.

anno The following photo of a wee wood mouse, rootling between the paving stones for fallen bird seed, certainly made me grin

soop Sun 24-May-20 16:36:51

I've a pain that suggests a UTI. The prolapses are as bad as ever. The appointment to see the surgeon who did a temporary fix it procedure, is on hold. It was scheduled for some weeks ago. A minor buggeration but one that I would so love to be free from...if only for an entire day.

The sun is shining. The sky is clearing. I am therefore going to say farewell until tomorrow. Please take good care of yourselves. I wish you a relaxing Sunday evening.

TOYA smile moon

Susan56 Sun 24-May-20 17:16:57

Oh soop?that really is a buggeration.Hope you can get antibiotics for the UTI tomorrow.Take care?

Charleygirl5 Sun 24-May-20 17:28:40

dragonfly I did suggest thatDexter would not be 100% happy to leave his lovely temporary home where he was so well cared for.

Susan that is a lovely photo of the two little ones delighted to see each other again.

Izabella I have 3 Alexas and love them. I have sight problems so they are great when using her as a timer. During the night, instead of switching on the light to look at the clock I just ask her for the time and she keeps me up to date with whatever the date is because I forget that frequently. The more you use it the more you will find how helpful it is- taking a shopping list for example. Just ask, many of us on GN use them.

soop I would be on my bike if I saw that mouse!
TOYA

annodomini Sun 24-May-20 17:37:41

I have an Alexa who is also useful to me when I wake up and want to know the time. I fall asleep listening to music, having told 'her' to stop playing in half an hour, by which time I am always sound asleep. I think I can use Alexa on my phone and tablet but haven't worked it out yet.

Izabella Sun 24-May-20 18:14:42

Thankyou annodomini Apparently it will have a screen so I can be reminded of things visually as well as things you mention. I am having a tutorial when it arrives!!

In the meantime a bit of loveliness from the garden.

Dreamkeeper Sun 24-May-20 18:50:27

A warm hello to my kitchen friends.

The sky is now cloudless in a blue sky with a warm sun, however it has not been this kind until later this afternoon.
Looks promising for the week ahead.
At least we can book ourselves a timely stroll!!! but the call and sounds of the sea are calling me daily!

Our one bit od excitement was the lunch time fire alarm and the arrival of the Fire engine whom actually were not needed as whomever was the guilty party here,it had been resolved sharply!!!
Not before costing a rather large sum of money for the call out though!!

Talking about the men`s poorly ward, I was about to ask permission for my poor man to join with mr Doodle there. The tooth extraction itself did cause a few issues and he suffered yet more the following day, whilst even today he has shaky limbs........but of course like most men he coins the same old phrase "I`m fine!!"
He is due his chemo this thursday so I hope he will be feeling stronger by then. There always follows a week of being grossly unwell. Many of you know the score all too well.
He takes it with a smile as he feels each time how fortunate he is to be still here receiving it.

There are occasions when posters leave you truly gaspin g and undoubtedly Maw that insensitive remark was going over board. Please do not let it ruin one more moment of your time. You did your Paw proud, end of story really.Cost is totally immaterial, and anyway I am sure you asked no one to contribute to the cost.

Always a pleasure having you join us Izabella you manage to bring a special sunshine with your words.

Not only are you a bonny lass now Soop you were certainly a stunner at an early stage, with many romantic tales to boot!!!
Sorry about yet another UTI and further prolapse problems, hopefully both will be short lived.Such a bind when these problems become almost a weekly event.

Such a lovely photo too SusanThey are obviously delighted to meet up!!

Of course you will be missing Dexter Dragonfly and he you too I suspect. They are such darlings and you will feel that vacancy in your home awhile I am sure.

Time to call it a day I think,so a fond farewell to you all, keep safe and hopefully have yourselves a pleasant week ahead

Doodle Sun 24-May-20 19:32:50

Well thank you all Mr D is now turning a delightful shade of yellow an brown on his back. HiS nether regions are not visibly bruised but he assures me are quite painful. He thanks you for your kind concern ?
Sorry Mr P is still a bit shaky. Hope he’s better in time for his chemo.
soop oh no not another UTI. You have been through enough. Have you antibiotics at home that you can start taking?
TOYA?

annodomini Sun 24-May-20 20:09:35

Lovely clematis, Izabella. I'd love to have one like it. What is its name? I made the promised orange drizzle cake and very successfully, I'm relieved to say. Mind you, it's more like a 'downpour' cake because that was a very large orange with a remarkable amount of juice! I had a slice with custard for pudding but there is some left and it's on the side for anyone who wants to risk it. If I can get some brown sugar, I'll make some flapjack. My kindly neighbours' little girls really liked the last lot. I only ate the bits that got stuck to my non-stick baking tray.

annodomini Sun 24-May-20 20:21:15

Dreamkeeper, sorry, I missed your post somehow. How could I? I sympathise with your longing for the sea. Although I've been living far from for most of my adult life, I still miss it and if I lived anywhere near you I would pick you up in my old banger and take you to the promenade.
soop, I'm so sorry to hear about yet another UTI. I had cystitis a lot in my 20s and 30s until I discovered that gin had an unfortunate effect on my bladder. So - no gin, not ever!

CherryCezzy Sun 24-May-20 20:58:16

Evening Kitcheners ?
Doodle, I've joined Mr D in the accident "club" ?. I took a bit of a tumble in the garden; not seizure related. Before dinner I decided it would me a good idea to refresh the flower vase. I pottered round the gardens, carefully selecting just the right blooms. After gathering them together, with some foliage for good measure I decided something was missing and I knew just the specimen I wanted but it's planted in a tricky place for a short a..e like me. Did I ask my WP for help? Umm No. I stood on top toe on the stone edge of a flower bed and reached. The stone wibbled, it wobbled. I couldn't lean forward any more than I was so I stepped back. Wrong idea. One leg went east and one leg went west and all I could do to try and retain stability was flap my arms like a bird. I then spun 180° and wham! For heaven's f..k sake I heard myself say as I scrambled around sat myself up on the gravelled surface (the only gravelled area in our garden). I don't do life by halves ?

dragonfly, it will be strange for you and Dexter for a day or two. Better that he's home now though.

Cute little photo of the wood mouse soop ?
Thanks for the loveliness Izabella

Susan that photo is an absolute delight. The sheer joy captured in that one magic moment. That's a memory to treasure ?

Off to watch Killing Eve ( even though I don't think this series is as good as the first two) now all but leaving you with some crumpets.
TOYA ?

Doodle Sun 24-May-20 21:49:55

Ouch cherry I bet that hurt. I hope you didn’t get any gravel stuck in you. Hope you are not too bruised. Perhaps you and my dear DH could partner each other in a ballet class. You both seem quite adept at twirling round at alarming angles. ?

Grandmafrench Sun 24-May-20 21:53:10

Hello Sunday Kitcheners

Bet you do miss that little dog, dragonfly and after all this time and such loving care, he would find it a bit strange to be going back home, I should think. Give it a few days and he'll settle - you can't expect him to forget how you loved him ...just yet. Look on the bright side, clean floors and less work, maybe.

Lovely happy babbas, Susan - so pleased you had a good get together - after all the recent problems. Bet it did you all the world of good.

Cherry just stop it. You are incorrigible - and you clearly don't bounce. You must have bruises on your bruises by now - but suppose lovely flowers have to be gathered just right !

An Orange Downpour cake - how fabulous Anno - and you don't touch it yourself? Wow, what restraint ! I have made some wonderful (well, the best I've tasted) chocolate cookies today. I have already tried some (in the interests of research, you understand). Nigella Lawson's recipe - not keen on her, too much simpering, I feel. However, I do have two very good cookery books of hers.

Poor Sir D, Doodle. Hope he has designs on a completely different dance partner once his bruises have gone. The last one sounds very high maintenance. Hope he's feeling better and that you both have had a good day today.

Hope the Fire Engine incident was resolved without any bad feeling, Dreamkeeper ? I am joking, of course. I expect that if there was a genuine error on someone's part, they would prefer that to the real false alarms and aggravation that all the emergency services fall prey to from time to time these days. Shocking, but it happens. Mr D probably felt quite battered after his tooth extraction, poor man. And Chemo on Thursday. He's very brave and uncomplaining you say, but it's just as well that his tooth pain has been almost resolved, otherwise that would be quite a lot to cope with in a couple of weeks, wouldn't it. Hope he feels a lot stronger and ready to cope again, very soon.

Izabella fabulous clematis. Well, you certainly don't let the grass grow under your feet, do you? I am for the first time looking up and looking into the advantages of having an Alexa, Google, Siri or similar. You are clearly starting a new trend on this thread. All you have to do now is try train your lovely new "assistant" when it arrives, to work on keeping the crumbs down ! grin

How lovely to have a long natter with your Son, Smileless. I love it when I have that chance. Sometimes, though, it makes me feel slightly sad after the call is over. Maybe, because we're on rations, we Mums just always want a bit more.........grin

Soop dear. What is happening? Even though you have good reasons for yet another UTI, I expect, it must be time that the delays/excuses/waiting lists etc., were all set aside and your turn for surgery be coming soon. Do they need a bit of a nudge, do you think? You really don't need stuff like that to spoil your days. Hope you feel better v. soon and as Susan (?) said, hope you have a little store of antibiotics to kick start it towards recovery.

Warm hugs (it's really warm here) to you all. Cookies on the worktop to go with Toddies or hot drinks (should Purplepixie turn up with her drinks trolley!!

Sleep well, stay safe and love from France x

Susan56 Sun 24-May-20 21:53:55

Cherry?ouch.Hope you aren’t too battered and bruised.
Doodle, the thought of cherry and Mr D waltzing around did make me chuckle?

Dreamkeeper Sun 24-May-20 22:31:38

Coming along with a warm bath and lotions to ward away any bruises Cherry,my word don`t say you too are competing with poor Mr Doodle as his bruises are now appearing as different shades of the rainbow.
I bet both of you will have had "Must take more water with it" said and that does rather irritate me.....I simply hope no real harm done and both of you will soon be back very much better.

Night all.

Daisyboots Sun 24-May-20 23:33:01

Ouch for poor MrD Doodle as I have done the same on my office chair and the resulting pain and bruising went on for quite a while. I hope it eases soon.
There is nothing worse than a UTI soop and have suffered a lot of them over the years. One recommendation is to have a large black coffee as soon as the first twinges appear. Mum suffered with them in her 90s so I did some reasearch and cranberry tablets taken every day stops them starting apparently as it stops the infection clinging in the the bladder wall. Once she started taking them she didnt have another UTI. So I have them for myself now.
Susan that is such a lovely photo of Matilda and B. My grandson sent me a photo of my GGS Flynn cuddling his new baby sister Ruby today and looking so proud of her.
Mrs D I do hope the last twinges from Mr. Ds tooth exreaction disappear before his next chemo on Thursday as there is nothing worse than not feeling good when having a dose of chemo.

Sorry I havent mentioned everyone tonight but have just noticed the time. Better get bedded down as I have to be at the hospital at 8am for the blood test and then hopefully the tablets for the next round of oral chemo. Fingers crossed.

TOYA

You won't find that on here, thankfully. Can never understand that amongst an exchange of views, opinions, news, sadness, laughter etc. there will often be just that someone whose day is incomplete without confrontation. Easy to see why lots are scared away from forums. But, as we all know, it takes all sorts.............

Smileless2012 Mon 25-May-20 09:28:34

Good morning ladies. It's a beautiful morning here and knowing that we have week of good weather has really lifted my.

It encourages me to get up and get going with the day's jobs so I can make the most of the lovely weather.

How are you feeling this morning soop? I hope you'll take it easy today and sit back and enjoy your beautiful gaden and all your hard workflowers.

That must have been a bit of a shock Dreamkeepershock, did you have to evacuate or was it all sorted before such measures were taken? I hope your DH is recovering from his tooth extraction especially as he has his chemo on Thursday.

Poor Mr. D. Doodle; he must have gone down with an almighty wallop to have bruising on his back.

Ouch!! If only you hadn't fallen down on the gravel Cherry is the specimen you wanted to pick still in the garden? If so I think you should leave it there just to be on the safe side.

I did feel a bit tearful after our lovely chat Grandmafrenchsad. We went to Aus. in January but it seems such a long time ago now. As you say, we're always left wanting a bit more.

Hope all went well for you at the hospital this morning Daisybootsflowers.

I've left some home made biscuits for elevenses; short bread and choc chip cookies do dig in everyone.
