Good Morning Everyone,
Its a bright sunny start here in Brackley this morning.
Do a small shop mainly to get weekend meals sorted for Sunday.
The weather forecast seems to be changing later in week I see.
Its case of the old wives saying do not class doubt until May is out.
Hopefully some mail , and watch TV, etc.
Mick

Good morning all from East London , chilly but sunny . Scentia yesterday I also had a bad wobble . I am fortunate that I see my family from a distance as they live near . But the smallest DGS fell off his bike yesterday whilst visiting at the gate, and had grazed hands , he was screaming his head off , I just wanted to bring him into the house to wash his hands and give him a cuddle ☹️. I was in tears on and off all evening, everything was emotional on the TV from the news “news” to “life and birth” ! Missed DH a lot yesterday too . So today will be a better day , gardening and a walk . A friend has mentioned she and her DH had a lovely walk by the river nearby, so may try it . I am always a bit cautious walking alone in some of the areas near us , but my friend said that there were a number of families around .

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny east Kent.

Not sure of the temperature as haven’t stuck my nose outside yet. Online delivery coming later which is the main excitement today. Yesterday’s was cutting DH’s hair. Felt quite pleased with myself as did a reasonable job without any blood or marital discord ?

Have a good day everybody

Good morning everyone from a bright Essex by the sea.
DH is still asleep so I am sitting reading, hopefully he will feel better today.
Some ironing, making a casserole for dinner and hopefully a walk later are on the cards for today.
Have the best day you can and stay safe everyone xx

The saying is: Ne'er (never) cast a clout till May is out. It means, do not shed (cast off) your winter/warmer clothes until the month of May has ended.
I think you probably misheard it being said.

Good morning from east London, blue sky, sunshine but cool at the moment. 5.15, early morning alarm call, the refuse bins were being lined up, 5.45 collection; I am not moaning, great that they’re still weekly. Dance class (last one, Viva Las Vegas) this morning then a safe distance trip to see DSD and her mum to drop off a bag of compost and some tomato plants. She is very keen to give us some computer games for GD1 and has mentioned something about us taking her trampoline away as well. With a bit of luck, it won’t fit in the car. The list of symptoms for Co-vid seems to be getting longer and longer; I felt compelled to check my temperature after listening to a programme on the radio. I feel fine, but needed reassurance. When I was out for my walk yesterday, I treated myself to a latte; rarely drink it but was my first one since shutdown. Very nice. It was from a small takeaway place in a local tube station; while it was being made, a tube came in and there was the usual stampede down the stairs although as the exit gates (at a safe distance from the coffee shop) are open there was no hanging around for people to get out. I was surprised at the number of people given this was outside the normal rush hour times; then again, what is normal anymore. Hope you have a good day.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. The sun is shining in South Yorkshire but it’s a cool start. I am sneezing, wheezy and blowing my nose. I hope it’s just hay fever or a cold.
Made leek and potato soup yesterday which we will have for lunch today, then the rest can go into the freezer. Maybe a short walk later. Have a good day folks.

Good morning from sunny Colchester. There was a cold wind yesterday that has dropped so it'll be warmer.
Virtual coffee meetup this morning.
I am the same age as Gillybob and the state pension is a distant dream....

Good morning from the Shropshire borders.A cool start but due to warm up later.

Not a lot planned today as we have been overdoing it with decorating and gardening and am aching all over today.

The deli delivered two family sized quiches yesterday instead of individual ones. They weren’t able to take them back so looks like quiche on the menu for the next few days!

Marydoll,I’m sorry your DIL’s parents behaviour means that your DGD can no longer come down to see you even if it was from her car seat.No wonder you are furious.I hope your little granddaughter is well,I often think about her.Our oldest daughter has chronic asthma and I remember how hard it was when she was a little girl.

I hope you get somewhere with the phone calls today gilly. There has to be a breakthrough one day, let’s hope it’s today.

Sending good wishes to all for the best day possible and thinking of all our good morning friends who don’t feel up to posting at the moment.?

Morning All

A lovely warm, sunny, spring morning here in the north of Norfolk.

I’ve just been outside to put some lamb fat scraps on the bird table and a blackbird accidentally landed on my hand in her eagerness to get to it! She didn’t stop. Not sure who was most surprised! We have rooks who visit the table as well and one, which is tamer than the others, came down while I was still outside. They obviously have very demanding young.

I woke around quarter to four this morning, so came down and booked a Tesco slot and then stood in the garden listening to the dawn chorus starting. It puts things back into perspective a bit.

Nothing exciting on the calendar for today.

Marydoll Wed 06-May-20 08:33:28

Oh I have spotted a spelling mistake, despite previewing! blush
HERE in Glasgow, not hear.

Urmstongran Wed 06-May-20 08:27:32

Can I just say Marydoll that your posts can never be too long! They are a joy to read.

Urmstongran Wed 06-May-20 08:24:10

Hi jacq10 ?

Scentia Wed 06-May-20 08:21:58

Marydoll. Your phone story made me giggle. Everytime I call my mum all I get is “oh for goodness sake, Brian, how do I answer this bl^*%y phone”?

Grammaretto Wed 06-May-20 08:19:14

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where we have the perfect day. Blue sky, sun shining, birds singing and nowhere to go.

I also need the fitness app Bartsmaw though I have been running up and down stairs searching for a badminton racquet to lend a friend who has DC at home.

Great news for you Urmston yay!

I feel your pain Scentia, for me it's when I realise I won't see the faraway ones this year at all and will we be spared anyway, but then I giggled at the cyst.

Virtual yarn group today and more gardening,
Hope everyone has a happy day.

Marydoll Wed 06-May-20 08:16:58

Bartsmaw, how lovely to see you posting, I often wondered how you and your husband were getting on.

Everytime, I watch Molly and Mack with my granddaughter, I think of you, when I see the bridge.

That's on my bucket list, a visit there, when I'm released!

jacq10 Wed 06-May-20 08:14:48

Lovely sunny morning up here in the Highlands. Nice to see a post from you Bartsmaw. I remember meeting up with you in Glasgow. Over a couple of years now - where does the time go? Glad you keep up with Gransnet. I don't post often either but get a lot of strength especially at this time from everyone.

Marydoll Wed 06-May-20 08:13:30

Good morning all, it's a beautiful morning hear in Glasgow, but only 2 degrees, quite deceptive.
The sunshine does lift your spirits. ?

Scentia, I know how you feel. We are used to seeing our granddaughter at least three times a week and missing her dreadfully.
We were getting a glimpse of her once a week, when DIL brought down essentials, albeit she was strapped in her car seat. It was such a boost for us.
However, DIL's parents, who are neighbours of ours, have been having family members and the other granddchildren in the house for hours and are defying the lockdown regulations, refusing to social distance. It is so galling, but I need to keep quite, as I don't want to cause any friction.

My son, rightly so, has said that they can no longer come down with shopping, as DIL's parents ignore requests not to hug DGD, who is a chronic asthmatic.
Myself and my neighbours are absolutely livid ? at them, as we are all trying so hard to do the right thing, by not seeing our grandchildren or children.
Even the recent visit from the police, hasn't made them change their ways. sad

My DD has been in Morrisons since 7am, bless her. She was getting a few essentials and my phone hasn't stopped ringing, as she see things she thinks I may need, but needs to check first. grin
I cannot get the hang of my mobile and every time she phones to check, I cut her off. blush. She then phones the house phone, as I'm trying to ring back on my mobile, so I'm juggling two phones at the same time! She is an absolute star. ? I have turned into an old biddy!

Great news about your pension, Urmstongran. I too am a WASPI. I am 65 next week and DD was going on about not opening my presents until I get my state pension. I said that that was a long time to wait.
She thought I would be getting it next week. ? If only!!!

I think a pottering about day is in order, rest is the key, since my angina has been really troublesome. The last place any of us wants to be at the moment is in hospital??‍⚕️!
We seem to be a virus hotspot here, I know of a number of people who are very ill with it. sad

Best wishes to all and especially hoping that Gilly makes some progress today.
A special shout out for Auntieflo, who hasn't been about recently.

PS: Grandmafrench, do you think this post is too long? winkgrin

Urmstongran Wed 06-May-20 08:11:20

X posts gillybob

This is beyond a joke for you. I read yesterday that Barclays website can’t cope with the enormous demand and that its customers are furious.

Get your head down for a couple of hours and put it on the back burner for 48 hours. Give Barclays chance to sort themselves out and give yourself some respite before you make yourself ill.

I think Barclays ought to be reprimanded and fined. This is government money after all.

Urmstongran Wed 06-May-20 08:06:14

Good morning from a bright but very cold NE coast .

Yesterday was yet another wasted day of my life spent clicking, calling , clicking calling ......... eventually spoke to a real person after being on hold for almost 2 hours only to be told the same cr*p “just keep trying ” . This went on all day and well into the night and I have been at it again since just after 5am again this morning. 26 years of business banking with this bank and this is how you are treat .

I really can’t take much more . My eyes are bloodshot from lack of sleep and my head is fit to burst. Breaking point is not too far away now.

Hope everyone has a good day .
With love
Gillybob x

Good morning Mick and everyone from Cheshire. After a brilliant moonlit night the sun is shining and yesterday's high wind has stopped. There was frost on the rooftops first thing.

I have to focus on the end of this or I would get very down. I know it's going to be a very long time before I see my DD and DGS as it involves flights (or an extremely long drive) so I have to be realistic. I have contact with them throughout the day because my DD and I have to check work related things, but my GS brings his paintings or school work to show me and we chat.

I'm going to bake today and use some of the fruit to make things for the freezer as I don't want to waste a single bit of it!

Take good care of yourselves and special wishes to all who are struggling. It's hard, but we can do this. flowers for all.
