Do you have any 'off the wall' unusual talents?
I thought about this having just captured in my hand, a tiny tiny flying midgy thing.
I'm good at catching flies, bees and wasps by hand and once caught 19 flies mid-air (not all at once ?) during an outdoor meal.
I'm pretty good at catching anything in the act of being dropped too.
I suppose my reflexes are good.

I’m just clumsy and read ArtySue’s post and thought “that’s me too”.
In fact my legs do similar, and all 4 limbs are constantly in conflict with door jambs and furniture - it’s a rare week I don’t have bruises somewhere.

I can roll my tongue - and all my DC can too, but DH can’t.

And spread my toes and hold a pencil between my big toe and the next and write legibly (but I’m definitely right footed).

I used to be able to pull my thumb back to touch my arm but I just checked and can’t do that anymore.

Anybody else now lying in bed trying to lick their elbow? I think I’ll pass on the leg round the neck thing. The NHS has enough on at the moment.

I can roll my tongue, touch my nose with it, spread my toes and wiggle my kneecaps. All the attractive traits. I’m not one to brag, but I’ve got a very impressive hitchhiker’s thumb as well.

I can do the tongue thing, twist it up and touch my nose etc etc

My husband is good at your trick , GabriellaG54

I can still wrap my left leg behind my neck. A talent I don't tend to use often

And my youngest daughter can lick her elbow

Which is quite tricky

nina I can, but neither of my sisters could. It’s genetic, like being left handed or crossing your arms L overR or vice versa!

ninathenana Sat 09-May-20 06:31:31

A few toe spreaders I see. Can anyone else do the tongue "thing" ?

NotAGran55 Sat 09-May-20 06:09:23

I can wiggle my ears and also pat my head and circle around on my tummy with the other hand ,
all at the same time .

My party piece was saying the alphabet backwards at speed
ZYXWVUTSRQPONMLKJIHGFEDCBA
I can also make other people wink just by telling them that I can't. I can't wink

I ve never done any yoga or formal exercise classes but I can touch my forehead with my toe when sitting down and do a full lotus with my legs fully crossed
Isn’t it strange never done anything to make this happen just something I ve always been able to do completely useless trick

I can waggle my ears and make my eyes roll in different directions.
I can also spread my toes and pick things up with my toes - my Dad used to say I had feet like a chimpanzee!

I can do the nostril wiggle too Minimoon.

I have just had this vision of GN'ers all over the world sitting trying to waggle ears, wiggle nostrils and spread toes etc grin

MiniMoon Fri 08-May-20 22:58:23

When standing up with my legs straight, I can wiggle my kneecaps.

I can also spread my toes.

I can wiggle my nostrils without moving any part of the rest of my face.

Elegran Fri 08-May-20 07:55:21

Phoenix I can sing that too, so I can vouch for it being possible! We could do a duet. Ready now . .

ArtySue Fri 08-May-20 07:49:30

I can knock my, and anyone else's, mug of coffee over without even trying, and frequently do. Embarrassing. Ever since I was a cbild my hands have had a life of their own. My eldest son is equally clumsy. When we're together it's a nightmare though very funny.

Furret Fri 08-May-20 07:28:43

I have the amazing ability to hang onto something for years ‘in case it comes in useful’ and then the week after I decide to chuck it I find that use,

Similarly when I’ve lost something and searched and searched in vain for it and give up and order another, the missing object is spotted in plain sight.

ninathenana Fri 08-May-20 06:46:10

I don't know if it's an odd thing but no one else in my family can spread their toes. I can do both feet.
I can also fold my tongue in half length ways which apparently some people can't do.

MissAdventure Thu 07-May-20 23:35:28

Don't be offended, but my predictive text wanted to call you Gangrene.. I wasn't going to say, but it made me titter.

MissAdventure Thu 07-May-20 23:33:32

I say! Steady on!
What do you mean by chewing on objects, Gabriella? grin

GabriellaG54 Thu 07-May-20 23:21:40

That was to MissAdventure

GabriellaG54 Thu 07-May-20 23:21:19

I kinda knew you'd do that missy...?

GabriellaG54 Thu 07-May-20 23:20:13

Well you can't prove that on here but we'll take your word for it phoenix ?

MissAdventure Thu 07-May-20 23:19:43

Oh, I've never met anyone else who can do it, Sussexborn.

I did have to check I could still do it before I posted. The old tongue doesn't feel as flexible as it used to be.

GabriellaG54 Thu 07-May-20 23:18:37

Good grief! MissAdventure ???
I bet that saved you money...not having to buy tissues.
Er...have you ever chewed on some 'foreign object'?

Sussexborn Thu 07-May-20 23:16:16

MissA: You have stolen my one talent! Must admit it’s years since I attempted it.

My Dad could wiggle his ?! A skill much admired by the grandchildren.
