Good Morning Everyone,
It bright and sunny here in Brackley this morning.
Will do a shop shortly after breakfast .
Will be interesting to see what the VE Day will be like locally will see a solo singer on the Piazza in the town singing or what.
What is noticeable is the still air ,and its surprising noise can be heard , due tto the lack of carbon being burned off from vehicles effecting the air.

Morning all

It's still a bit cloudy here, though the sun is trying to come out. Hope it makes it for this afternoon as we plan to eat in the garden then and have our own little celebration. (Not much sign of bunting or flags about).

Happy birthday Cornergran ???

gilly I hope today brings you a little peace. Easier for me to say than for you to do, but try to give yourself a break from the phone and email today. ?They might not even be manning the phones today, it being a bank holiday?

Take care everyone.

Good morning from a warm cloudy still Morecambe Bay. Am just back in from the morning’s walk. My energy statement has arrived by e mail, but it’s totally up the creek! I have definitely not used £800 of electricity since 7th April. Of course the office is closed to discuss this with a human!
Special ?for Gilly who must just be so exhausted.
Take care and stay safe everyone ?

Good morning Mike and all 52 of you wonderful early birds ahead of me. It's a cloudy start on the Angus coast so before doing anything else I have been out and cut the last of my grass before the 'return of winter' this weekend. So I can now sit on my laurels (which I'm very good at doing!) and read all the posts ahead of me. I've been trying to think if I have any memories of VE Day - I was three and a half at the time - but can't remember anything. I do have a memory, which must be from about that time, of some aircraft overflying over us and everyone in the house dashing outside and cheering and waving and someone shouting "They're back! They're back!". I don't know what that was all about as there's nobody left to ask. We lived not far from RAF Leuchars where there were Dutch and Check (sp?) aircrew and I suppose we may have had some billeted with us. Wish I'd thought of asking more about this when there was still somebody left to ask!

Good morning all from a cloudy day in my part of Glasgow too. Cloudy last night too and I thought we may not see the last super moon but as I walked into the kitchen later a window appeared to have a light shining through and I went outside to see such a beautiful moon. GDs want to share the moon too with DD2 and myself. What a soppy bunch?

Dear gilly , if only I could do something to ease what you are going through I would be there like a shot. Try to have a nap later and rest, taking care of yourself this weekend. Switch off and give yourself a well earned break. Learn to tell others, I can’t do that just now, it’s amazing how they cope leaving you to deal with your own life?

I had a FaceTime chat with both GDs yesterday as GD1 wanted to show me her latest beauty treatment. Avocado and honey face pack and through her hair. I told them I was thinking about temporarily dyeing my hair pink! The look on their faces followed by do it Granny???. I will have a go with the hair chalk they have left here. Anything for a giggle?

Happy Birthday Corner??. Your plan for your special day sounds perfect. Enjoy?

Best wishes to all for a pleasant day and for all who are struggling, I hope you have a better day today.

Good morning from a sunny and warm East Midlands.

Happy VE Day to everyone! I feel really sad this morning and not my usual self at all. Having only had a few wobbly days this is not good. I miss my grand kids even though we keep in touch through WhatsApp etc. It’s just not the same.

Some of the neighbours are gathering on the green today to drink and eat and hopefully keep 6ft apart from each other. I just dont feel like going yet DH is all for it. My youngest son has said that I should go but keep well away from everyone. Fed up.
Sorry to sound a misery but I want to spend the time with my family and not neighbours, especially some that have recently had the police called to them!

Stay safe and sane and hope you all have as good a day as you can. Take care.

Good Morning All x
Beautiful first thing---about 5am but I wasn't going to rise with the sun at that hour. 2 hours later the sun had gone and it's now overcast and eerily still/silent.

I've been watching the various "celebrations" etc. All well and good if you have that type of neighbourhood.
I knew a dear lady many years ago who worked at Bletchley Park during the war and she was multilingual , a very clever and unassuming person. I was friendly with her sister who was a nurse and became a district nurse.

My heart goes out to Gilly and her sh*t life of late. x It's the only way I can describe it having experienced my own D's past which was coming together before this damn virus when everything has had a knock-on effect.
Try and stay strong girl, it'll sort itself out somehow. x.

Now from the sublime to the ridiculous as I've been trying to fathom out why my INR was so low and it began with the lockdown when my diet changed from fillet/rump steak and all the goodies of supermarket shopping to shopping from corner shops----no comparison really. Changes in diet can affect the way warfarin reacts and I can only reach this conclusion as I've been fine in myself and quite surprised.
"Making do" is not an option for me, foodwise grin

It's the cash shortage that 's getting to me with no ATM's around as the butcher and greengrocer take cash and not debit cards. What's one supposed to do ?

Just about to have 11's's so I stood in the back kitchen for the 2 minutes beforehand, I've got it now smile

To all who are unwell and to Cornergran on her Birthday flowers, I send good wishes and the usual stay safe message. xx

EllanVannin Fri 08-May-20 11:24:30

Purplepixie I feel the same as you today, we'll have to cheer ourselves up somehow x flowers----to us both.

Good morning from a sunny Market Harborough.

Have a happy VE Day and stay safe and sane. X

Happy Birthday cornergran ??? and enjoy all the celebrations everyone. All very quiet round here. Can't believe what a lovely day it's turning into though - I shall now go out and sit beside my little pond, feed the fish, and reflect on something good. ???

A late good morning from me. It was strange getting all dressed up this morning to take part in a zoom VE dance celebration, but worth it all the same.

The sun is out and oh what a beautiful day. It's hard to imagine sometimes how dangerous our wonderful surroundings potentially are.

I'm really missing my family today, like so many others. Some of my dolly peg fairies will be flying into my GC gardens today. A little something to make us all smile.

Happy VE Day everyone and take care. X

Good afternoon ladies ?from bright, still, Godalming where the sky is a pale blue wash with some sun.
A lonely run this morning but it's amazing how light it is at 5am.
I like the towpath run as I like seeing the narrowboats and today was offered a cuppa on the return leg. I sat on the bank, drank tea, chatted with the owner and patted his dog. So calming and we talked about his upbringing in Leeds and travels in Canada. I hope to hear more tomorrow.
My favourite thing is talking to 'the man on the street' and learning about his/her life yet I like being alone.
Had a great telephone chat with a customer services advisor working in a Halifax call centre. She told me they sat at desks in triangular formation 6 feet apart and she loves her job, had a 3yr old at home etc. We were talking about savings accounts, so not just a chat.
I think my sense of smell and taste has become more acute during incarceration and I definitely appreciate nature and the outdoors more than ever...and the silence descending after 8pm as if the world sleeps.

Well folks, after a that waffle I'll stop here. Baked potato with cheese (Tesco, 2 in pack) plus coleslaw and a huge salad at 6ish then watching CH4 series with Alex ? choosing a head chef for a restaurant in the lakes. I don't think she looked in the mirror before filming started as you can see her bra under the yellow jumper and it's a terrible fit.

Wishing everyone with a birthday, the happiest day possible ?????? and to everyone everywhere, be kind to yourself. GN cares about you. Until tomorrow...??
