Good Morning Everyone,
Yet another bright sunny start to the day here in Brackley this morning.
Today , whilst monitoring my weight , they it seems to go up and down by a kilo or more is snacking between meals and in the evenings.
Yesterday , my cycling magazine issues arrived in the post including back copies .
I am hoping my hair trimmer arrives soon , as I have tracked it from China to Heathrow and then through customs for just under a kilo in weight its been along journey .

P.S.
It looks as if we shall have a large influx of new members after Lara’s appearance on tv this morning.
Welcome to them all.

NannyMcDee Tue 12-May-20 09:47:51

Good morning all. Long time lurker but first time poster here. Lovely sunny day here in Suffolk but quite nippy. First machine load of washing ready to be hung out.

Hope you all have a lovely day.

Mapleleaf Tue 12-May-20 09:52:33

Good morning all,

It was brighter earlier, but has become grey and dismal looking now. Still very cold, too. Not a lot planned for today other than the supermarket later this afternoon.

Happy birthday to harrigran ???? and Marmight ????. I hope you both enjoy your day.

Welcome to NannyJosette and Julto.

Barclays are not showing themselves in a good light at all, gillybob and I hope that you hear something more positive very soon. Maybe try contacting someone like Martin Lewis - he's doing a weekly tv programme. People like him have a bit of clout when dealing with big organisations. They certainly need naming and shaming, as I imagine you won't be the only person they are treating abysmally. When this is all over, I'd seriously consider changing banks - loyalty counts for nothing theses days it seems.

Be careful today, marydoll and try not to overdo things. Your SiL must be a constant worry.

Keep safe and well, everyone, and may the 'lirt' be with you.?

Megs36 Tue 12-May-20 09:53:08

Annsixty, lots of sympathy from me, know how debilitating the pain is, hope the electives are fairly near.

Mapleleaf Tue 12-May-20 09:55:58

Sorry to hear you are in such pain, annsixty. I do hope you will be able to have your surgery very soon. ?

gillybob Tue 12-May-20 09:58:02

I’ve already contacted Martin Lewis thank you Mapleleaf . There are quite a few loyal Barclays Business customers who are being treat extremely badly by Barclays . Their name is mud . 26 years with them too.

kittylester Tue 12-May-20 09:59:58

Good morning all from a sunny but brisk North Leicestershire.

Its lovely to see you post Ann - I'm sorry you are in such pain.

Many happy returns to Harri and Marmight and welcome to this lovely thread to all newcomers.

I too had a bad night and was awake until 2 am. - we could have had a social distancing party!!

Sorting the roof space today so we can transfer the stuff from all the other 'sorting' out of the spare room.

gilly, I am so sorry that you are struggling with the bank still - is it time to send in the grans?

Callistemon Tue 12-May-20 10:00:26

Good morning everyone from S Wales, it's sunny but very chilly here so I haven't ventured outside yet.

Oh, were we all on the telly, annsixty ?
If I'd known I'd have tried a bit harder with my unruly lockdown hair and put n some lippy.
I'm sorry you hear you are having such a struggle to get around, let's hope it won't be too long before operations can go ahead again.

gillybob this is totally unacceptable even in these exceptional times, I hope you get some help from a real person soon

Happy birthday to harrigran and Marmight ???

And welcome to all newcomers.

I'm just wondering how long it will be before the invaders try to pour across Offa's Dyke - we're ready for 'em with our broomsticks and home-made cardboard tanks.

gillybob Tue 12-May-20 10:14:34

Indeed it is kittylester not sure where we would send them too though? The whole of Barclays seem to be working from their kitchen tables and the tech team are playing video games instead of fixing the errors . Feeling so let down . Not that they care . Huge organisations such as Barclays don’t want me as a customer anyway. I don’t make them enough ££££££££

Annapops Tue 12-May-20 10:23:12

Good morning from County Durham. A cloudy start but much warmer outside than I expected.

DH battling with our hedge at the moment, so that should keep him busy for a couple of hours.

Food shop on its way soon. Plenty of wiping and washing to come. Oh, no, plans have just changed. DH requires my help stopping the hedge cuttings blowing onto the road.

Have the best day you can all. X

gillgran Tue 12-May-20 10:38:11

Good Morning from a sunny N.,Cambs., pleased that the strong winds have dropped.

I, too ordered hair trimmers & waiting for delivery, soon, I hope, I plan to give DH a shearing!! ( if we are both brave enough)!

Pleased we will be able to drive out, hopefully, soon to get to visit our little holiday home in NW Norfolk for the day. The grass will be knee-high!!

Love your "joke", Urmstongran smile

eazybee Tue 12-May-20 10:40:29

Yes Gillybob; most of Barclays are working from their kitchen tables (and dealing with childcare at the same time), but I can assure you the tech team are NOT playing video games instead of fixing the errors.

Sar53 Tue 12-May-20 10:47:41

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny Essex by the sea.
I have a tea loaf cooking as we speak, it smells delicious. We are having coffee then off out for a walk by the sea.
Welcome to all newcomers and a happy birthday to Harrigran and Marmite.
Have a good day everyone and stay safe and alert xx

gillybob Tue 12-May-20 10:56:12

Really eazybee pull the other one . How come all the other banks have got their act together then? How come the same messages keep appearing saying this error will be fixed by 7th May . Their tech teams are absolute sh*t .

Ok so perhaps you have a relative who “work” for Barclays but that shouldn’t make you blinkered to their failures.

Urmstongran Tue 12-May-20 11:09:10

Thanks gillgran ? it made me chuckle as I thought of it!

Cathiey Tue 12-May-20 11:16:14

Hello everyone. I have joined today, so this may have been asked many times, if it has sorry. my son is a single parent with 2 under 5’s. if I meet him outside can he have the children with him? he has no childcare? thanks

GabriellaG54 Tue 12-May-20 11:26:35

A sunny day here. Cotton-wool clouds sailing in a sea-blue sky, so pretty.
Great run today with one other going the opposite way. Sat for a cuppa with the 'old man on a boat' such a nice chat and welcome drink with a rich tea biscuit. No masks or glove palaver, he just handed the mug and tin across. Normality reigned for a good 20 minutes. ?
I'm making plans for Wednesday. Borrowing OH's RR and taking it to the South coast for the day while he's in London making moolah.
I will pack a picnic and drinks and possibly a sun-hat and blanket. Ooh! Exciting times.
For now, it's sunshine in the courtyard and washing and colouring my hair later.
I hope everyone has a good or better day with lots to look forward to on a gradual basis. It's no good having all the excitement at once.
Take care, ?s to all and ?? to GNers celebrating birthdays or special occasions. ?

GabriellaG54 Tue 12-May-20 11:27:47

Cathiey

No no no Absolutely not.

Purplepixie Tue 12-May-20 11:29:57

Good morning from a bright and breezy east Midlands.

Happy birthday Harrigran and Marmight. Have the best day that you can.

I didn't sleep too good for 2 nights and slept 12 hours last night. Weird dreams though. My mam was telling me off in one and my friend was driving me to the beach. Both of them are sadly dead.

Stay safe and sane. Love ? x

Mapleleaf Tue 12-May-20 11:36:28

My understanding of it Cathiey is that you can meet one person from another household, in a public open space, still maintaining the social distancing rule of 2 metres apart, so I'm afraid meeting your son and two children is still not allowed, sadly.
Welcome to gransnet, by the way.

Taichinan Tue 12-May-20 11:37:21

Morning everyone from a cold, sunny, breezy, cloudy, maybe snowing later, Angus! I've made it in here before lunch for once, but nothing else has been done. I don't pay much attention to clocks these days. Welcome to all the newbies. Like many I sort of lurk and occasionally post, but I do enjoy it. Listening to Boris my ears did prick up when he said about going elsewhere in our cars because I live between two beautiful beaches which I can't get to other than by car. And then I remembered that UK = England only. Anyway, it's too cold for the beach just now! So, floors to hoover and ironing to do/books to read and family WhatsApp to join in with - whichever seems to be most important. Happy Birthday to the Birthday Girls, a lessening of pain for those brave souls who need it, and a good day to all ???

annsixty Tue 12-May-20 11:48:57

Gabriella
You do know RR also could mean Robin Reliant as in delboy
Would enjoy seeing that.??

Kate54 Tue 12-May-20 11:50:18

gillgran so pleased to hear about your proposed day trip to North Norfolk. I’m contemplating the same for next week but although it’s clearly allowed from tomorrow, the second home issues (first world problem, I know, hence reluctance to start a separate thread about it) haven’t really had a mention. Quite right as there are far more important things to worry about.
However, I do run the property as a business so probably it is justifiable to visit to check everything’s OK. I haven’t so far as neighbours there rightly made it quite clear we wouldn’t be welcome.
Quite ready for one of you to say it wouldn’t really be in the spirit of the easing of restrictions.....

GabriellaG54 Tue 12-May-20 12:01:27

I didn't think of that annsixty but it might have caused quite a stir if it was. ??
It's not a roller either.

annsixty Tue 12-May-20 12:04:13

Just leaves Range Rover then.
Nice one?
