Good Morning Everyone,
Yet another bright blue sky this morning over Brackley.
It is also less windy as well at the moment.
Any way yesterday , I did attempt to scan some photos, of my late Father.
We have a Facebook page dedicated to Memories ,and the ones I eventually managed get into the right area , posting 3 items on the page .
Today ,small shop, and see how the day develops.
My hair trimmer as now arrived at a courier in UK , so will be interesting to see when I arrives.
Take Care
Mick

Me too kitty well said. Life is tough enough for many at present and certainly too fragile for squabbles!
?

Hello to you Nhjr nice to have you join the gang! Looking forward to hearing from you in the morning. Please tell us Where are you from? And your weather. Always nice to know what it has in store for us!

Marydoll Wed 13-May-20 17:53:50

I totally agree Kitty,

Hi all, I’m new to gransnet
I’ve been for a walk and to see my mum who is 94, I’m allowed to visit but keep to meters apart.

My husband died last August so I have had to get used to being on my own. Done some gardening and reading. A bit cold for gardening. By

A couple of us have wondered how she is Llamedos.

It's not about taking sides its about support and I, for one, hope she comes back.

Llamedos13 Wed 13-May-20 17:28:10

Here’s another vote for Gillybob, pay no attention to the poster who called you uncouth!

She will be scared to show her face here again after her mean comment, don’t see anyone giving her support.

Tillypuppy Wed 13-May-20 13:53:30

I don't usually post on this thread but always read it. GILLYBOB please don't be put off posting, you have been through so much. There will be a light at the end of the tunnel just hang in there! I have always believed nastiness says more about the poster than than the target. Stay strong.

My windows are sparkling Rufus. I was a cleaner in a previous existence but fortunately I’m retired now so usually do only the minimum. Usually my house is the messiest, most untidy, spider friendly. I may take pictures to show how nice it looks now.

Rufus2 Wed 13-May-20 12:50:35

The house is spring cleaned
Nfk Expect your windows are the cleanest in your street, after 7 weeks of TLC! grin How's your window-cleaning business coping with these difficult times?
Being self-employed, probably OK.! grin
Take care and don't fall off the ladder again!
From your friendly "blended in alien"!
Good Health

Thank you both, I needed that and it means a lot to me.

Back to trees. In our area trees that become a ridiculous height for suburban gardens are well pruned back thankfully.

Years ago a particularly nasty neighbour who ignored our pleas to remove his tree which was pushing against our wall and in danger of landing on our roof if the next storm uprooted it. The next storm found most of his tree dangerously in ours. Planning acted quickly and ordered him to remove it and pay for damage to our wall. Had he been more understanding, we would have paid half the costs.

Marydoll Wed 13-May-20 12:03:03

Kitty, it's all about getting a balance, isn't it.
A year ago, one of the trees had to be cut down, as it was badly diseased. It had to be done for safety reasons, it would have flattened a few houses, if it came down in a storm, it was the correct thing to do.

We got a shock when the foundations for extension were dug and there were tree roots everywhere. We hadn't a clue that there was a problem.

kittylester Wed 13-May-20 12:00:11

See, that's what I said! grin

kittylester Wed 13-May-20 11:58:50

You didn't upset me Kalu and I bet marydoll wasn't upset either! grin

On the tree front - Next door's wall (Victorian, school playground wall in conservation area) is being pushed over by their neighbour,s ENORMOUS sycamore, which has a TPO. Our neighbours are fighting the council who say the tree must stay. From my point of view, we will have more light and sun if it goes and fewer blessed sycamore seedlings in our garden. But, I'm saying nothing!! grin

Marydoll Wed 13-May-20 11:57:09

Kalu, stop it! I'm certainly not upset. Why would I be?
You were trying to see both sides, which is what we should do. We never know what sorrows people have.
Having met you, I know what a lovely person you are.

Now I have more important matters to attend to. Matt the postman has just brought two lovely surprise packages. I suspect they are early birthday presents, but as they say Fragile, I can't shake them to see what they are. ?

Kalu Wed 13-May-20 11:56:17

It was GD2’s 11th birthday yesterday and I am not in a good place today.

CherryCezzy Wed 13-May-20 11:54:58

Good morning all from a bright but fairly cloudy Gower. Not that far away from you Goodbytoallthat.

Woke up in pain yesterday, which increased throughout the day so I dosed myself with pain killers last night and slept until 8:30 this morning. I woke up in even more pain this morning so am well dosed up again. I think the falls our of bed two nights in a row has caused some kind of injury, strange how the effect was delayed though.

Marydoll, I'm glad that there will be action taken over the trees. The tree vandal surgeon should not be allowed to operate ever again.

Don't, whatever you do, stop posting your usual posts Gillybob. Nortsat, your comment is absolutely right and great sarcasm Grandmafrench. It could be that the case that the poster (I do know who it was) ^ is^ having a tough time but there is no need to snipe at you. I don't think you were uncouth, I think Barclays are being pretty s....y in the way they are treating you and other customers! You have our (the vast majority) full support here.

BladeAnnie, I think you have the perfect plans for your non-wedding day ?

I understand those of you missing your visit to see the dreaming spires of Oxford. It is indeed a beautiful place. My WP has very fond memories of his time in University there, despite not exactly being the most affluent of students back then. It is quite an expensive place to live. He wanted to stay there after his completion but I started my studies in London a year later than him and he came to London to be with me instead. The rest is history as they say ?

I think I'm going to have to rest up today, I just hope my internet doesn't go down again ?

Take care all of you, be kind to yourselves ❤️

Kalu Wed 13-May-20 11:50:09

Oh I sincerely hope I haven’t upset anyone or either of you kitty/*Marydoll*. Goodness knows, I can ramble on and also share my moans/down days. We are all different in our ways. I didn’t for a minute mean my post to have a pop at anyone who shares whatever is going on in their, lives.

Re the trees, I was pleased to hear what your neighbour did. Well done her?

All I was trying to convey was, even in my darkest days, I wouldn’t take it out on others with a nasty insult. That’s not who I am. Oh, I’ll stop digging now?

Urmstongran Wed 13-May-20 11:46:46

That was nice of you kitty as I too think eazybee might be feeling a bit exposed by all this today. I don’t like to think of anyone feeling ‘got at’ - neither her nor gilly.

Taichinan Wed 13-May-20 11:44:50

I've just done it again! I could scream!! Somehow I have lost a post I was about to send. Dyslexic fingers strike again ?. Anyway good morning all from an extremely chilly Angus coast. Was just saying, before I so rudely interrupted myself, that it's been good to see the support for gillybob. The support she has had I am sure is what has given her the strength to keep fighting. But, like Kitty, I feel a little concerned for eazybee who also let off a bit of steam. We don't know what lies behind that, do we, but whatever it was, the last straw was located. Sending ? to you too. Marydoll nothing surprises me about people who have spent every last penny to achieve their dream home and think they have also bought the right to perfection - as they see it. But a respectable company of tree surgeons should have ensured all permissions and paperwork were in place before laying saw to wood. Sounds more like a firm of cowboys to me. Heartbreaking, because it will take many years for the trees to recover, if indeed they ever do. I am still studiously ignoring the clock, so next stop is coffee break before I clear up the breakfast things - everything will eventually get done! Have a lovely day everyone, one way or another ??

Dear gillybob I am not a regular poster on this thread but I do read it occasionally. I read yesterday’s thread and saw nothing at all wrong in what you posted. Most of us have had experience of trying to get through to a so called help line and the frustration of not being able to get through or talk to someone with some common sense is something most of us can sympathise with. However, what you have been through recently and the urgency of your needs goes above and beyond frustration. You have every right to say how you feel and how disgusted you are with Barclays non response. I hope and pray you get the help you need soon. Someone (I think it might have been Kitty) suggested Twitter. We had a problem with John Lewis a while ago and as soon as my DH said he was going to put a comment about it on Twitter it was resolved. It may not work in this case but it could be worth a try. Take care and keep posting.

CaroleAnne Wed 13-May-20 11:35:55

Good morning Michael Kitty Easybee and all who follow this thread. It is grey and rather dismal here in Warminster.
Dear Jilly. You who has given so much to everyone in your life now needs help yourself. Do not hold it all in. We are here for you without judgement. Life is not fair but you have had an overdose of it all lately.
Thinking about you and sending you energizing thoughts. One day you will hopefully look back on this nightmare and be able to put it where it belongs.
Many years ago we went through something similar. For encouragement there is a light at the end of your tunnel.
We are not living where we would like to now but have a roof over our heads and have our self respect.
Keep going if you can and see that shining light at the end of the tunnel. It might not be shining at this moment but it will eventually.thanksflowers

Good morning from north of Scotland, 4 seasons in one day again. Spent yesterday sorting out someone else’s hiccups. Someone who would normally coped and not needed any help just hit a wall because of the isolation. It actually distracted me and the day flew past, finishing with me actually achieving something. I have a zoom fun quiz tonight so will “see” my friend. I might have to wear a hat because I have exercised the hairdressing scissors. Never mind, it will grow back.
marydoll I am in high dudgeon about the trees. I could write a book about Neighbours v. Trees. I won’t as it would be full of uncouth words and phrases.
gillybob. Come here and be yourself. Part of visiting this post is to support and be supported. I wish I had a magic wand to help you.
Have the best day you can everyone.

Marydoll Wed 13-May-20 11:16:58

Welcome from me too, why, why, why. Glad to see you posting again.

Kalu, I too wondered if the poster who upset Gilly was upset about something in his/her life and the uncouth remark was a knee jerk reaction.
Not everyone (is like me), blabbing their stress all over the thread, we don't know what others are enduring.

As for the trees debacle, every resident in the two developments bordering the common ground and lane, will be lettered by the local authority concerning the protected status of the tress and we have been assured the police will press charges.
The trees are well marked on a map of the town, as protected. So there was no excuse for the destruction.

kittylester Wed 13-May-20 11:03:54

Kalu, that was my point really. We are here for gilly as I'm sure she knows.

I was just wondering if all was well with eazybee.

Urmstongran Wed 13-May-20 10:59:05

Morning whywhywhy ?
Good to have you back! x
