Chewbacca, I have quite a few serving spoons for various things from Robert Welch but whenever I make a casserole or tagine or something like that I realise that the only ladle I have is a black nylon one which is useful for my big nonstick casserole pan but is not really very presentable for the table.

And, of course the only time it dawned was then I was putting things on the table.

I love it - the design of the stuff is fabulous. I keep my salad servers on the sideboard - just to look at!!

We are not buying anything that has to be posted. Our post office delivery site is overwhelmed with parcels and the posties are working overtime trying to get on top of it. I really feel for them. Our usual postman is really unhappy.

I DID however, along with the grocery delivery, order DGS a tiny paddling pool. He's been plodging (when it's warm enough up north) in a plastic storage tub of water. He'll love the paddling pool.

I must admit some adverts are very tempting.but I have resisted. I really can’t fit any more tops and trousers in my wardrobe.
I have succumbed to treating myself to books. I usually wait for the paperback version of a book by my favourite author but this time , I have gone for the hardback instead.

I'm to buy an ebike

I'm thinking of treating myself to a fold-up bicycle so I can get around whenever I drive somewhere.
I've just treated myself to the Game of Thrones DVDs, all 8 series of it, and the Harry Potter DVDs. This present to myself was my treat for achieving 27 years of being sober!

I may buy myself an ebike. Good exercise for me

I totally get the psychology but am really finding it hard to buy anything for me as a) I have more than enough clothes - and could wear something different every day of the lockdown and still not run out ?, b) am aware I have gone up pretty nearly a size since last summer, but most importantly,c) I am conscious that 2 of my DDs are more than feeling the pinch - one has no work for the foreseeable future, maybe 2021 as she is in the theatre, and the other missed out on being furloughed as she was due to start a new job in March after a years maternity leave and her previous employers rejected her request. The new job didn’t start because of the lockdown starting before she was on their books and in any case the future of the company is precarious. She is getting a very little part time work from them on an ad hoc basis, just to tick over.
Both have refused financial help from me and are being very independent tightening their belts, so no way could I justify treating myself.

Thank you FlyingHandbag, I am very proud pf myself and I was advised to try and mark each successful year with something special.

MawB why don’t you send them food deliveries if you really want to help them, they can’t do anything about that.

My stepson has bought me a fire stick. Well, I order and pay and he says oh, I’ll send you the money. I say you keep it, treat yourselves ? all down to me. He would send.
I hope I can set it up. I do buy things I could watch for cheaper on Prime.
I am a fiend for handbags. There is a beautiful Radley with a narrowboat design. It’s delectable. Just can’t justify it right now.
I ordered a lovely looking set from Loccitane on QVC last week.

They are grown up people and I have offered help which was appreciated and kindly turned down. They are far from being on the breadline but being careful. So I respect that.
I can still send treats (books etc) to the little DGSs ( 4 and 1) courtesy of nice Mr Amazon though!

What a lovely idea! It is my Birthday on Sunday and there are a couple of things on my list that I know people probably won't buy so I am going to treat myself with them!

Flyinghandbag, I just want it placed on the table in front of me then someone else cleans up. I am a retired Chef and doing lots of stuff for the family.
Also they get Irish Sausages and Bacon which are like gold dust here, especially at the moment.

I treated myself to a mask from the Radical Tea Towel Company. radicalteatowel.co.uk/face-masks/ ....the strawberry thief version but they are all sold out just now. A bit pricey but the home made ones I bought kept pinging off! The company is donating a plain mask to a charity for each one sold... I might buy one or two more if they fit better...

For years I have bought flowers on a Saturday and indulged in some me time when arranging them.

The florist now delivers but they are getting more and more expensive so I think they are my treat.

None of ours have been furloughed maw but all of them seem to be picking up the slack from those that have been. DD3 particularly writes for an on-line brides magazine and seems to be doing all the work.

Oh dear I shouldn't have stumbled across this thread. Ive just opened an account with BrandAlley. Never heard of it before- this could prove to be a bad idea with regard to my bank account...
