I dont understand, why I'm so tired when I'm doing far less than I've done for well over 40yrs...I'm not picking up/dropping off/minding/playing with/outings with grandchildren etc...I'm not flying to the middle east 3-4 times a year helping my daughter for 3-4 weeks at a time....not doing my voluntary work..seeing friends...ete etc...doing less than I ever have...but am so tired...off to bed now..sleep until 6.30ish...Why? Anyone else finding they're doing less..but shattered ?

I'm busier than ever, looking after my grandkids at their home 40 hrs a week instead of less than 20 in school times, (both parents are key workers.) Can't hop on a bus to shop daily as I used to, take the kids to the park, or cook from scratch every morning, it seems like everything has to be planned days in advance, frail deaf husband unable to deal with the simplest phone call, money or household chores. I've always been insomniac & it certainly hasn't improved. I'd love to even get six hours sleep a night.

I’m tired and a bit demotivated and to cap it quite emotional, even at some of the adverts on the telly. However I’m grateful too for the kindness of most and the wonderful essential workers. Looking forward to getting some small steps in the right direction.

Nope, still fighting fit. At the beginning of this I decided to do all the white paint work ( only a bungalow) I'm coming to the end. I helped OH with painting the outside of the property.
Today, as the weather is lovely I decided i wanted a lovely old wrought iron dining table cut down to coffee table size and then I sanded the wood surround and painted the iron a deep navy.

I suppose I'm lucky in my outlook as I've never, from the start of this pandemic had a moments worry, fear, anxiety.

I’m feeling exactly the same. Jobs needing to be done but I seem to be just pushing them aside . It’s not a good feeling , in fact right this minute I’m going to go for a social distance walk . Glad I saw your post, the spirits have moved mesmile

Marieeliz Sun 17-May-20 15:11:00

Yes. Can't be bothered syndrome is very tiring.

Skweek1 Sun 17-May-20 16:04:51

Normally a lark and early to bed person, but currently sleep pattern gone to pieces and permanently exhausted - usually bouncing out of bed at 6 in summer, but at present staying in bed till 8.30 or even 9. No reason, but just tired, lethargic and generally fed up.

moggie57 Sun 17-May-20 16:07:31

Greciangirl Sun 17-May-20 16:31:24

Yes, another one tired more than usual. Having done very little.

Never asleep before midnight, then awake by 6am. Really have to push myself to do stuff. I’m turning into a lazy old s.d.

The lethargy is sometimes overwhelming.
Feel a little better today as had short trip to the seaside.

Kim19 Sun 17-May-20 16:40:34

I certainly rise later but full of resolve and, sometimes complete achievement. However, today I managed to drop everything, some midstream, when I discovered 'Paint your wagon' was/is on 2. Cannot believe I am doing this. Totally out of character. Wonderful........k

I usually sleep badly but since lockdown I’ve slept much better and wake feeling like I’ve had a proper sleep - I guess we have no outside stresses going on at all...no timetables etc. Having said that yes I’m tired in the day despite rising late. Getting a bit can’t be bothered as it’s all a bit repetitive now gardening/cleaning/cooking and repeat. Three meals a day every day ?

grannyrebel7 Sun 17-May-20 17:09:06

Yes, I fell asleep watching Millionaire one day last week and I love that programme. DH doesn't sleep very well and often growls around the house in the middle of the night and he disturbed the dog we're looking after the other night. Apparently said dog was barking outside bedroom door to be let in and I slept through the whole thing!

grannyrebel7 Sun 17-May-20 17:10:11

That should have been prowls! Made it funny anyway smile

Hi I can resonate with many of the other posts I've read here. Personally I find most days are like groundhog day, would love to do more exercise but arthritic feet and bad back hold me back. Also overactive bladder is problematic as they say lifes a bitch and then....... hey ho the virus at least hasn't struck must be thankful for that.

Missgran Sun 17-May-20 19:47:46

I find that I am sleeping better do not know if it’s because of lockdown or because my yoga class was cancelled when leisure centres closed i am doing yoga every morning at about7.30 it sets me up for the day

Joyfulnanna Sun 17-May-20 19:52:06

Tired beyond belief too. Keep needing a day time nap but it doesn't affect my normal sleep.

Barbs1 Sun 17-May-20 19:59:06

I’m with washerwoman and Katyj in that I’m so chilled I feel much more relaxed than usual - seemed very bizarre at first but when I think what I did before, always work work work, I’ve now had time to sort things I’ve never had time for. I’ve knitted for the nhs, helped collect donations of toiletries and finally met neighbours I’ve never seen before. I live alone and off work from one of my jobs as am vulnerable and the other as an agency childrens nanny where work stopped almost overnight. I moved house 2.5 years ago and never had time to sort things out. I’m 62. Am now thinking of changing jobs for the future (if possible) for something where I’m more appreciated and valued, due to lack of support. Every cloud...............

Sillhnanny321 I have the same feeling as you. Live on my own no close family. Neighbours all have families although I live in over 55 property, they have visits. I have 2 friends in the same situation as me but we cannot meet. I feel so isolated. So there are a few of us about.

jerseygirl Sun 17-May-20 21:10:29

lack of stimulation and boredom i think has hit us all. There's no motivation to do anything. Its going to be hard for everyone to get back to normal when all this is over. I sleep ok but dont want to get out of bed in the morning.

Joesoap Sun 17-May-20 21:26:38

I am generally quite relaxed, but get a very tired period each afternoon not having done anything to tire me.I have disturbed nights, but can sleep like a log when its time to get up.
I sometimes get stressed having nothing to stress about, if anyone knows what I mean.
I dont read the newspapers, and dont watch much TVas I get to know everything anyway, from various people, most people. I think boredom makes us tired to be honest

Peaks and valleys ..

I was all gung-ho washing windows and suddenly became disinterested .. So took a nap, got up, and drove around listening to the Beach Boys ..

grannyrebel7 Sun 17-May-20 21:44:34

Love the Beach Boys rosecarmel!

NanKate Sun 17-May-20 21:58:03

I’m missing my friends, short tempered, missing my grandsons and generally pretty miserable to live with. I keep waking between 5.00 and 5.30am, no wonder I am knackered.

Oh and I am sick to death of preparing meals.

GreenGran78 Sun 17-May-20 22:45:40

I don’t feel any different to how I was pre-covid, and my sleep patterns are much the same. I thought that I would miss all the social activities that used to take up quite a lot of my time, but, surprisingly, I don’t miss them much. I take a walk most days, and keep myself amused very well.

However, I take part in a Zoom quiz night on Saturdays, and feel absolutely shattered after 90 minutes of social interaction and using my brain.

Getting back to ‘normal’ again is going to take some time and effort.

Replying to those of you who suffer with restless legs: have you tried pramipexole? I suffer too, one of the many joys of fibromyalgia, but at least one that is treatable. Three little tablets a day, courtesy of my doctor, plus a magnesium supplement and 3 of 4 glasses of tonic water every day and I am pretty much symptom-free. Sadly, one of the other symptoms is tiredness, to the point of exhaustion, and another is poor sleep. Chicken/egg?! Here's to better times for us all, stay safe xx
