Do you vacuum every day

Every day in my twenties
Every other day in my thirties
Twice a week in my forties
Once a week in my fifties
Once a month in my sixties
I'm now in my seventies!!!!

No! I ripped up all the carpets 20 years ago, and have wooden floors all round the house. Other half is mildly allergic to cats, but I love them, so I have a Devon Rex - doesn't shed. He is mad as a bag of frogs and very full on - the cat, not the OH . As there have been no visitors, and it's just us here, the floors get done as and when! Loving lockdown!

Yes , whole house everyday, it’s the one household chore I love! Obviously a bit weird, I’ll get my coat!! ( Am weird, looked for a hoover emoji, there isn’t one!) ?

I dont mind untidy but I cant abide it not being clean.Kitchen and bathroom floors get steam cleaned daily too here I dont mind magazines on seats or worktops and theres always things living on the stairs to be taken up.My OH pet hate is anything except a kettle and toaster on the kitchen worktop,everything else lives inside cupboards and drawers .

shadieladie - are you sure that verse refers to vacuuming? ?

I used to have to before my elderly cat was put to sleep. She was an indoor cat in her dotage and ‘walked’ the cat litter everywhere. I’m surprised how infrequently it needs doing now that she’s gone!

DD2 has learnt to crawl and EVERY little thing goes in her mouth so it’s vital that the floor is clean as possible .

I use the Dyson cordless once a week and, though, it's always full of dust, the carpets never look dirty. I have no pets so there are no hairs to clear up. If the downstairs needs it, I do a quick swoop through with the Dyson to put the stripes back on the carpet at the weekend.

I just read that James Dydon is now at the top of the rich list. He deserves it. My four bed house used to take 40 minutes to Dyson with the old, heavy, plugged version and now the cordless takes 20 minutes it is so light and manoeuvrable. It is more like a game than hard work.

Er..... no! Next question please. Seriously though, I hate housework. Always have, always will. When lockdown started I walked around with some lethal spray and a cloth, wiping down every surface anyone might have touched. But even that has faded to a couple of times a week. I Hoover when it looks like it is needed, usually after we have been eating biscuits or crisps. We have a brand new very light coloured carpet in the lounge so I guess I do Hoover a bit more often, but not much. There is only me, DH and two cats so there is nobody here to judge us if we look a bit slovenly.

mcem I vacuumed downstairs today. Goodness me, was it tedious and thank goodness that's over for a while!
I even flicked a duster round, thank goodness DH still has some birthday cards up - I didn't move them.

Absolutely not just as and when it needs doing. Probably about once a week more if we have a lot of company ... but as that is not happening ...

In a word no I dont vacuum everyday and I am glad I am not the only one who says when it needs doing!

Vacuum - what's the point as once its done you need to do it again some time.

DH picked up a few dead flies this morning in the conservatory, I vacuumed it thoroughly again late am, walked in just now and there are two dead flies on the floor.
What is so attractive to flies in here?
They find their way in through open doors but can't find their way out again.

Usually dirt! You must have heard of fly screens!? Good for keeping mozzies at bay, too!

Perhaps once a week, and use the cordless one in between if needed. got better things to do than vacuum ..having said that we have no pets at the moment and nobody coming into the house!" Must admit, I don't like bits on the floor and will vacuum them up

I have a Golden Retriever. Ten times a day wouldn't be enough to avoid golden hairs everywhere.

Most of my bungalow is hard floor which gets dusty/crumbs and what my hubby calls tumbleweed. Bedrooms and snug have carpet. Bedroom carpets two to three times a week - bit OCD but they do look better when they’ve been hoovered. Hard floors sweets or hoovered whenever they look like they need it and mopped when I think about it! Only two of us and no pets. I hasten to add though that I’ve just purchase that famous brand of stick cleaner - how sad to get excited about a vaccuum. Omg - when you use it the first few times it’s astounding what it picks up?

Rufus now then , now then. There is no dirt in my pristine conservatory. They fly in through the open doors but then bash themselves furiously against the windows trying to get out - although the doors are still wide open they tend to forget how they got in.

Yes, screen doors are wonderful and essential if you live in Queensland or NT where there are ten times as many flies as here, the only trouble is that cats like to run up them and hang around grinning.
