Andrew the pompous Prince

In the newspaper yesterday was a story about when Andrew first joined the Navy. When he was posted to his first ship allegedly on meeting the Captain he said " Hi I am Prince Andrew but you can call me Andrew" to which the Captain replied " And you can call me Sir." A reminder to him that perhaps his Royal status was not relevant but that the hierarchy on the ship was. Well done Captain!

Excellent response from the Captain Judy54 Andrew really does not seem to have any redeeming features does he.

I read that too yesterday Judy54 and thought ‘well said that man!’ Such a stellar response! A sense of entitlement follows PA around. Not a popular member of the RF right now is he? Not so much Randy Andy or Air Miles Andy more Toxic Andy.

I don’t think this is true, the Captain would have met him before he boarded the ship and Andrew served with the
Naval Air Squadron as a sub lieutenant, equivalent to a
lieutenant in the army.

Security would have been involved too.

If true then Harry is doing the same with his ‘call me Harry’.

I also read that his mother doted on him more so than the others. The Queen must feel very let down and disappointed with him.

When I lived in Pompey, a naval neighbour who had served with him told us that Andrew had no interest in the social life of the other junior officers of similar age and rank, but preferred the company of higher-ranking officers.

Perhaps he had reasons then for not socialising with young men his own age. 22 year old sailors !

I wonder which paper this appeared in ????
