The public toilets were open. Police were there to keep the queues in order.

The next wave of virus will be more difficult to handle too as the illness lasts much longer---- so says the latest from China where a new outbreak has shown signs that pathogens are changing and those affected will carry the bug for longer.

There are some public toilets open in the Southend area. At least one block near each beach area.

Just watching a cluster of six little girls, from three different families who have spent the past two days making a 'camp' under a tree on the grass verge, and a similar number of boys, again from different families, playing football on the green. But their parents won't send them to school, because 'it will be too much hassle if they can't all go'. No health worries.
