Ilovecheese you're right - Cummings and BoJo have effectively given us permission to go and see our families, and I think we should all now do so.
The perception that this would be illegal is wrong, and should not concern anybody.
What is bugging me about all the discussion and questions about Cummings in the media, nobody is asking serious questions about how the country is to get back on track and function properly.

Wasn't it George Orwell in Animal Farm, who said "everybody is equal but some are more equal than others"?

Couldn’t agree more ‘oldernewgranny’ I feel as if all the sacrifices everybody has made have been throw back in our faces. This dreadful man ( you choose which one) has unbelievable arrogance and should go.

Alexa it probably will not be possible now that we have all been given permission to ignore the guidelines as long as we follow our instincts.

Cummings holds all the cards. If the government doesn't protect him he will dish the dirt and bring them down.
The Civil Servant who sent an official tweet calling them "twisted people" will certainly be sacked!

Boris Johnson's response was an insult to those of us who have been following the rules in order to save lives. He basically told us that we had no need, we should have just followed our instincts like his puppet master.

Mr Johnson said that Mr Cummings was obeying his instinct as a parent. This does not excuse Mr Cummings for putting aside his instinct as ordinary people have to do regarding their children and other loved ones.

If everyone disobeyed lockdown isolation of covid sufferers and their contacts no testing, tracing and isolation program would be possible.

No apologies . This won’t do Boris any favours. He should sack him immediately

Does it really matter?? if he is stupid enough to risk his own health as well as his family thats up to him. Likewise with anyone else acting the same way, let them get on with it.
We are all missing birthdays and our family and friends and no matter how we feel we have to get on with it and not risk our health or our family and friends just because some idiot has done so.

Its his sheer arrogance that is making me extremely angry.

It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks, he absolutely does not believe he's done anything wrong.

I don't think he will resign but I do sincerely hope he will be 'forced out'.

What do you think of Boris’s response to the Dominic Cummings debacle? I feel really upset that I’ve spent 10 weeks in lockdown missing birthdays of my grandson, my son and my daughter-in-law. I feel like throwing it all in tomorrow and inviting everyone round for a bbq with it being Bank Holiday. I know I’m not alone in cancelling every event in my diary since March but why can Dominic Cummings break the rules and get away with it?
