Good Morning Everyone,
Yet another bright sunny day here in Brackley this morning.
Last night ,I actually watched Star Wars Skywalker ,took awhile to get into it, but resolved at the end, I have been so used to seeing films sequel wise where the ending of is normally the opener for the next.
Today a small shop , cannot wait to be able to visit other shops in a few weeks time.

Good morning everyone !

What an incredibly hot start to the day here on the Med' coast in France. Wish now I hadn't promised myself that I would wash floors and catch up on the ironing today. Stopping for a coffee very shortly, so that should lift the monotony....

Was not surprised to read that the UK is having hardly any rain. I know this means some struggling with plants in everyone's newly tended gardens, but having read so many posts over the weeks which tell of seats outside, blooming flowers, sunshine and birdsong, I think everyone would agree that this is so much more important at the moment than worrying about water. It can come to an end so quickly and revert to the great greyness, I feel that everyone should snatch at a chance to just be outside.

No understanding whatsoever about what is going on regarding lockdown. Maybe I need to get back to looking at the news only once a day - just to give some time for the squabbling, sniping, and sheer confusion which abounds at present to abate somewhat. As long as everyone on here continues to keep themselves safe, life will go on until we all get used to the new life, whenever that will be.

Well done, again BlueSapphire - I'm sure it looks more as if you couldn't care less (what a little devil!), rather than you've lost the plot. Rollers on a walk? And why ever not?! grin Keep thinking positive thoughts!

I shall now sit in the courtyard with my coffee and sneeze for the UK, France and anyone else within earshot. I do know that a one-a-day anti-histamine will stop my hay fever if I get really desperate. I've not reached that stage yet.

Have a great day whatever you are doing and don't forget to smile. Big hugs from France. x

Good morning Michael and all GNs. As Mapleleaf has said, its going to be a hot one in South Yorkshire today. My hay fever was an absolute mare yesterday. Nothing seemed to touch it. We are planning to go for a walk round one of our upland reservoirs today, but it is quite remote so there will probably be no-one to sneeze on except the sheep!
I second the pineapple juice for throats, Mary. Hope you feel better soon!?. Have a good day folks.

Elizabeth1 Wed 27-May-20 14:11:13

Marydoll so sorry to hear you’re feeling poorly flowers try gargling with salt water and have a wee drink of honey and ginger it’s good for the tubes. My DH swears by drinking pineapple juice he says it’s helping his asthmatic cough

Good morning everyone another gorgeous sunny day here in East Fife.Himself is going to have an attempt to get the bbq working it’ll be a rerun of yesterday’s attempt fingers crossed, our dear neighbour offered to shop for us today here’s hoping she’ll not regret the offer. I’ve sent her the order just a few items (not ) it’s really so kind of her she’s apologised for not doing this earlier she said she didn’t think not to worry she’s thinking now wink

Purplepixie Wed 27-May-20 11:25:13

Good morning from a lovely sunny and warm East Midlands.

Another day of baking, sewing and watching TV. I am getting really fed up with it all now but at least we haven’t had any of our relatives sick with the virus.

Take care and stay safe. X

Auntieflo Wed 27-May-20 11:03:33

Good morning Mick, Annie and all.
I've quite a catch up to do with everyones comings and goings.
Sorry to hear that Marydoll has been poorly, and hope she is feeling a bit better today.
My typing is awful, since I haven't been on here for a while. Every word seems to need a correction.
I had to visit the surgery this morning, for my Vit B12 injection. While I was there, I was offered a Shingles vaccine as well.
There were signs all over the place, advising on how to access the place, and the door had to be unlocked to let me out!
We are now sitting in the garden with a coffee, and sounds of activity next door, where new tenants are moving in. Hope they are nice. The house has been empty for months and we have got used to the quiet.
Lovely to hear that Gillybob has been getting useful advice from one of the GN's, and hope and pray that her problems can be swiftly resolved.
Have a good day one and all.

Good morning from Fife. Bright dry morning but cooler today. Went for a short walk this morning which is a change from my usual routine. This afternoon will likely be doing some gardening. Having problems with the smartphone so will have to try to by that sorted. That resulted in my not being able to join my usual Zoom meeting yesterday.

gillgran Wed 27-May-20 10:30:44

Good Morning to you all.
After a sunny start, it is now overcast, here in Cambs., Forecast is for another very warm day, ( I love 20 degrees in the daytime, under 10 d., at night)

I now have a Kindle, I've never even thought about getting one as I love reading 'real' books.! This is one my DD has passed down to me, as she has up-graded hers.! So, (with no instruction book)! I'll have an on-line chat with DD on how to use it, she has put a book on it that she thought I may enjoy..!!

Take Care Folks

EllanVannin Wed 27-May-20 10:21:53

Bellasnana, I quoted your friend to the neighbour yesterday as she'd asked me about moving her son from one place to the other during this virus outbreak so she's getting in touch with the funeral directors today.

Although her sister has come to stay with her she knows that I'm also here for her too as I've known her for years and met her son as well. Her family are very good. A bad time isn't it ?

EllanVannin Wed 27-May-20 10:17:25

If my mum had been alive she'd have made matters worse by saying " look at your scraggy arms ". Mum was a " Glaxo baby " so had quite a bit of flesh on her. I've always been slim so more noticeable.

I lost half a stone over Christmas/New Year when I was ill and that's how easy it is with me. It doesn't take much if I'm off colour.

Gelisajams Wed 27-May-20 10:10:48

A late Good Morning from Morecambe Bay. We extended our walk this morning as it was so pleasant out. Need to be at a clients house for gardening so I’ll catch up later. Take care and stay safe everyone ?

CherryCezzy Wed 27-May-20 10:08:56

Just popping back, that's the trouble with losing posts - I then forget things I wanted to say.

BlueSapphire, I think you are doing really well. Keep it up but take it slowly and you'll get stronger ???

EllenVannin is right Susan this does tend to happen to many people, especially women, as they get older Susan. That said, it does seem that it has happened far too rapidly. Could it be a case that she ate well yesterday because you were there? I agree with Bellasnana, it won't do any harm for her to have a medical checkup, maybe some blood tests - a mini mot if you like. We should all have these from time to time anyway.

Susan56 Wed 27-May-20 10:08:20

Ellan,yes she has definitely shrunk!

Susan56 Wed 27-May-20 10:07:29

Thank you Ellan and Bellasnanna.
She has always been conscious of what she eats and I think is probably eating less as she is also conscious of not being as active. She definitely enjoyed her lunch yesterday.
I’m wondering if the weight loss has been gradual but because I haven’t seen her for twelve weeks it was more apparent.
She has a yearly MOT which she will have when lockdown ends and her weight is checked then.
Her face doesn’t look too bad Ellan and thank you for your post,it has stopped me panicking as much as I was.
I think I will go again in a couple of weeks and see how things are,if I go sooner she will be suspicious, and if she looks the same will leave it but if any more noticeable weight loss will contact the dr although she is not a fan of the Drs surgery!

EllanVannin Wed 27-May-20 10:01:58

By all means if you feel concerned start asking questions etc.

EllanVannin Wed 27-May-20 10:00:49

Susan, muscle is the scaffold of your body and when that starts collapsing it's only natural that the weight goes with it.

I had an aunt, who, as she got older, shrunk a lot, but a more sprightly person you could ever meet. Aw, I could have put her in my shopping bag smile but she loved her food ! She was well into her 90's when she died and this was after numerous falls and mishaps. She'd lived alone for many years after uncle died.

Mollygo Wed 27-May-20 09:58:30

Good morning all from sunny Lancashire. Today’s a painting day for kitchen doors, frames and skirting boards. Great to have the windows open to get rid of the smell. Third visit here today. There is such a lot of positivity and caring on here it’s good to read.

EllanVannin Wed 27-May-20 09:51:55

Thankyou, Susan. If your mum's still eating alright there's nothing wrong in that department and if she's never been a " big " lady, weight loss is more evident as one gets older because of the loss of muscle-mass, particularly if you're not active.

I'm going by myself here as I've always been on the slim side and also blessed with a decent appetite no matter what.
As I've got older, coming up to 80, I've been aware of the " lack of flesh " on my arms, to what there used to be. I've put it down to muscle shrinkage, of which muscle is heavy and when there appears to be loss of weight, my guess is that it's muscle.

It's more prominent in us slimmies but it doesn't mean that there's anything amiss----it's ageing.

Any visible loss in your mum's face ? Fortunately with myself, it's retained its shape and not " sunken ". Probably the only indication of my body that I eat well.

Bellasnana Wed 27-May-20 09:40:29

Good morning all from Malta where it’s hot.☀️

You are all very busy, I can’t keep up with everyone!

Had a lovely drive out with DD3 yesterday and we even managed a walk along the promenade and stopped for coffee and cake. There are very few people about since the airport and sea ports are closed, hence no tourists so it was very easy to social distance.

It was so lovely to sit by the sea for an hour, something we normally take for granted, but after so long inside I felt on top of the world!

Sorry to hear you are feeling poorly Marydoll. Get well soon.flowers

That’s so sad about your neighbour’s son, Ellan Vannin. One of my oldest friends (we started school together aged 5) lost her son (34) to suicide two Christmases ago. It is a terrible way to lose anyone, especially your child.?

Susan56, your mum losing so much weight would be a cause for concern. I hope she is fine but would still see if she can be checked to make sure nothing is amiss.

Just been to the post office so that’s probably the highlight of my day! Not that I’m complaining. I count my blessings especially when I read of so many of you who are struggling with one thing and another,

Hope you have the best day possible.?

CherryCezzy Wed 27-May-20 09:37:42

Good morning folks. It's a gloriously sunny morning here in the Gower.
This is my third attempt at posting this morning, the other two disappeared into cyberspace never to be seen again ? !

harrigran, I hope the fact that your BiL is being moved to a different hospital is a sign that he's on the road to recovery ?

Urmstongran, I've actually lost 5lbs in weight but my hair is so thick and so long now that I really think it must actually weigh a stone ?

Those films are precious Grammaretto, I have been sent several during lockdown and have watched each one over and over again ?

Marydoll, us women really must try and curb our attempts to talk for the whole of our respective countries ?. You really need to take care of yourself though as you clearly have very bad RA ?

? gillybob, you deserve justice from these sons of bs!

It was quite sad yesterday to see much of my recently deceased friend & neighbour's belongings being taken away in a van. This time it wasn't her SiL doing it, it was a hire company taking it to the tip ?. Her daughter arrived whilst they were doing it but only waved and smiled at us. She stayed maybe 20 minutes in the house.

Just the washing to put on the line this morning and then a bit of much needed housework ?. Cooking a small ham for dinner later and will make some some salads to go with it, there'll be enough left for tomorrow too I think.

Look after yourselves everyone ❤️

Nannytopsy Wed 27-May-20 09:32:40

Good morning Mick and all his followers.
Cloudy and a little cooler in Suffolk - perfect to paint the patio doors. Sanded down and washed it all down yesterday. I have plenty of undercoat but need more white topcoat.
Urmston I can vouch for the fact that is absolutely true!
I hope the day is kind to everyone.

Susan56 Wed 27-May-20 09:22:45

She’s 88 Ellan.

EllanVannin Wed 27-May-20 09:21:56

Susan, how old is your mum if you don't mind me asking ?

EllanVannin Wed 27-May-20 09:20:33

Love hearing about Grandmafrench's escapades. It all sounds so idyllic. Carry on enjoying the lovely life.

Susan56 Wed 27-May-20 09:18:53

Good morning from the Shropshire borders where it’s another sunny day.

Went to see my mum yesterday and the neighbour was right, she has lost so much weight. She was fine in herself and ate a decent sized lunch. She commented that her clothes are very loose but she doesn’t seem bothered.I really don’t know what to do.Seems negligent to do nothing but not sure what can be done as she says she feels fine.

Now we have finished the decorating and sorted the garden we seem to have settled into a pattern of spending the morning doing whatever house and garden jobs need doing and then the afternoons are spent reading (me) and pottering(DH)

You are making really good progress BlueSapphire in tackling your anxiety????

I hope things are on the way to being resolved gilly.I agree with you.GrandmaFrench is a star?

Take care, stay safe and have a good day all.
