I was in love with Clint Eastwood when he was in Rawhide in the early 60's
He is 90 today.

I have seen one other poster have the same crush it was Cazb:
I was only about 12 and was in love with Richard Chamberlain
otherwise known as Dr. Kildair loved him all throughout the T.V. series.

If we count pop stars then Peter Tork from the Monkees was my first crush, closely followed by David McCallam from the Man from Uncle. I remember collecting cards that came with bubble gum, with a individual picture on one side and the other side was part of a large poster. I got them all except one. hmm
Then I had a crush on Roger Moore as The Saint, but more the character than Roger Moore. I read ALL the books over and over and swooned over the TV programme.
Once I started going to the cinema on my own (instead of with my Mum to watch films like Pinocchio or Dumbo!) I fell in love with Dustin Hoffman, Omar Sharif, Robert Redford and Paul Newman.

Tyrone Power and John Payne.

I will have to stop drooling over all these handsome men. But it is still Clint for me.

Cliff Richard - only god knows why!

Another one here for David Essex! Those eyes and that voiceblush. Also Omar Sharif. I think it’s the eyes that do it for me!

NanKate Mon 01-Jun-20 15:49:51

Alexa I do remember the name Gene Autry but I don’t think I saw him in films.

What about Cary Grant who was handsome all his life? Peter Finch was on my list andTony Curtis.

Who would you fancy today if you were a teenager? The 2 provisos for me would be clean nails and slim (no large stomachs). Now I bet I will be told off for being ‘fatist’.

I fancied Dirk Bogarde too when I saw him in The Singer, not the Song. I also liked Leonard Whiling (Romeo and Juliet), Ray Brooks and David Buck (actors) and Davy Jones from the Monkees and Paul McCartney and David Essex..

I had a crush on Dudley Moore in a lot of the films he was in.

Sorry ladies but Mr Essex is mine!
BTW that's David not Joey Essex shock

When I was very young- David Hemmings. For the past 30 odd years, Sean Bean and Paul McGann. Music wise, always Marc Bolan...

Kayte Mon 01-Jun-20 16:25:12

Clint, always and ever! But also, Gregory Peck and (if singers are allowed) Sacha Distel.

Fennel Mon 01-Jun-20 16:41:25

annemarg I'm over 80 too but never took to Clark Gable - I don't think I saw Gone with the Wind until much later.
Clint Eastwood definitely. And Kirk Douglas who died earlier this year aged 103! George Harrison too.
My current favourite is Tom Hanks.
Interesting about those who were gay - in my teens the first man I fell for turned out to be gay sad - he was so gentle and sensitive.

Oh yes I forgot Elvis back in the day.
Gorgeous.

David Essex was always and still is my idol. I met him and on speaking to him my legs went to jelly and I could not say anything except a brief hello. I was a schoolgirl at the time and was sent to see him where he was staying at the time as a dare by a friend. I did not believe he was there but was shocked when he answered the door and with his lovely smile said Hello Girls - what could I say. He will be my forever star.

I had loads of crushes - Elvis, Paul McCartney, Ilya, David Hemmings, Oliver Reed to name but a few - but I adored Steve McQueen. God knows how many times I have seen his films. I read a biography and he seems to have been quite unpleasant - tight-fisted and a persistent adulterer. I could still swoon over him, though.

My most profound crush was on an unlikely person, ie. Paul Simon. When I was 13, I cut out his photo from Fabulous (remember that?) and stuck it on my wall. I used to kiss him goodnight. His little paper lips went all crinkly. He wasn't the most probable crush - I think he is only about 5ft tall - but I loved a poet.

I saw him on stage with Garfunkel, a couple of times. My DD has been to two of his more recent concerts and said he was excellent, but I prefer to treasure my memories.

Currently experiencing a serious crush on Cillian Murphy

Monica53 Mon 01-Jun-20 17:19:42

It was Paul Newman and Robert Redford for me after watching Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

Toadinthehole Mon 01-Jun-20 17:26:22

I liked Napoleon Solo from Man from Uncle when I was 10! Can’t think of his real name. Later on... Dennis Waterman in The Sweeney, and Sam Neil, from The Final Conflict, Omen trilogies, and Jurassic Park of course. Girls in my year were falling over themselves for David Cassidy, Donny Osmond, David Essex. Did nothing for me.

Buntie123 Mon 01-Jun-20 17:40:46

Christopher plummer from the sound of music x

Patsy429 Mon 01-Jun-20 17:41:39

I was totally in love with Michael Landon, Little Joe in Bonanza. I even wrote to him and received a signed photo months later.

Nandalot Mon 01-Jun-20 17:42:29

My immediate thought was James Garner in ‘Maverick’, but other posters have reminded me about Terence Stamp, David Hemings and Oliver Tobias.

Calendargirl Mon 01-Jun-20 17:48:58

I also adored David McCallum ( I had “Illya Forever” scrawled across the inside of my P.E. case lid. I also collected the bubble gum pictures, but I GOT THEM ALL!!!

They are carefully stored in the loft, probably yellow with age. If I live to be 100, they may be worth a considerable sum to a keen collector!

???

Another vote here for Michael Landon and later on Bobby from Dallas, Patrick something or other!

jerseygirl Mon 01-Jun-20 18:35:35

Captain Scarlett !!!
