Good Morning Everyone,
Have woken up to a grey but dry start here in Brackley this morning.
Weighed myself prior to shower etc, and since lockdown the urge to have between snacks , mainly because of the boredom can vary my weight.
What I noticed yesterday in the skies whilst waiting for the supermarket , was a Red Kite , which was more interested in making a meal out of a blackbird , due to lack of food outlets maybe one reason.
Take care and Say safe ,
Mick

Good morning from the NE coast we here we have another cold and grey start to the day, rain on the way again later.

I went for a little walk yesterday with my winter duvet coat and scarf on it was so cold. Hard to believe it’s June.

Oh what I wouldn’t give for some sunshine and a swim in the sea Urms I hope you have a wonderful time at the beach?

Had the first proper laugh we have had for a very long time yesterday when DH insisted I cut his (very thick and unruly) hair. It’s been months and he was starting to resemble an aged hippy.

I only had kitchen scissors and made a cape out of a black sack. Sat him down in the middle of the kitchen and we both had a fit of laughter. Anyone watching might not have appreciated how much we needed that little moment . And his new hair cut isn’t half bad at all. grin

I’m meeting one of the lads at “that place” in about an hour so will have to get a shift on .

Have as good a Monday as possible everyone.

Love, Gillybob xx

Good Morning Everyone

Very warm and blue here this morning. Just off to the Vet with the dogs. One has ear problem, the other just likes any social event! Will probably be different today from the norm. Too much chat difficult behind masks - even for me! Thought as I was putting on make up.....first time in weeks....I could save money and only make up the part above the mask? Yep! Silly.
Then drop off dogs and raid the Pharmacy for meds. Then much needed coffee chez nous! Have the best day everyone! ???

Morning All

I enjoyed reading Urmston’s posts when it was hot and sunny here but today it’s cold, overcast and not very nice in the north of Norfolk and I’m just a teeny bit envious. A hot beach sounds absolutely wonderful!

Listening to long range DGD3 read at nine on FaceTime so I should get dressed I suppose and look respectable.

Oldbutstilluseful Mon 08-Jun-20 08:28:33

Good morning from Hampshire/Surrey borders. I rarely post but love to read all your plans, or none, for the day. It really sets me up. Today though I have something special to look forward to. I haven’t seen my son since C.......s and he’s coming on a visit for my birthday and bringing lunch. My daughter is also going to be here so I’m hoping it won’t be too cold in the garden. If it wasn’t for the dreadful virus I wouldn’t be seeing them on the day as usually they are such busy people it has to wait for a free weekend.

Silly thing, even though they can’t come inside, I’ve been cleaning the house! Old habits die hard I guess.

Thinking of all who are so brave in coping with their ongoing problems ??

Good morning everyone,

A drier morning today, but chilly as the heating came on automatically this morning.

I was ready to climb the walls yesterday - just one of those days I suppose, so must stir myself and try to get outdoors today.

14 years since I lost my dear Mum today, maybe that's why I felt so miserable with myself yesterday?

Washing is on the go so I hope the rain holds off today so I can get it outside to dry. I got fed up of running in and out on Friday to bring washing in and out. In the end I dried it on the heated airer, but much prefer it drying outside when possible.

Enjoy your day on the beach, urmston. Definitely not sun bathing weather here today. ?

To all with plans for today, enjoy what you do.

Hoping today is ok for you all. Stay safe.

Lins1066 Mon 08-Jun-20 08:21:27

Good Morning Mick and all. A bright morning here on the S Welsh coast. Washing to be done and I'm going to make some soup with whatever veg is left in the fridge.
Good news about your son grandMattie bet you can't wait.
Stay safe everyone.

Brunette10 Mon 08-Jun-20 08:15:59

Good Morning from a dull Fife. No wind though so that helps a bit. Marydoll hope you enjoy your peace and quiet for a while today. Our lives seem to be getting more and more quiet, I can't wait for the day we can get back to near normality. However tbh can't believe we have been more or less stuck in for 77 days, who would have believed it but here we are. Have managed to get a lot done that otherwise would not have had time to do so really can't complain. Not sure what today brings, no baking I shall maybe batch cook though. Hoping everyone is well, try your best we are just about there.

GrannySomerset Mon 08-Jun-20 08:09:05

Up and about early because chiropodist (in full PPE) is due at 9.00 for a long overdue visit. Washing in machine and about to get DH ready to face the day. These days not usually so ahead of myself because there is no reason to rush, but today we actually have an appointment in the diary.

Sunny and warm in North Somerset at the moment, though that may well change. Have the best day we can, everyone, even though we won’t be as glamorous as Marydoll or as luxurious as Urmston.

Grammaretto Mon 08-Jun-20 08:07:08

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. We had summer in May. Not sure what this season is called.
It would have been my DF birthday. Every year I plant a geranium in his memory but haven't been able to buy any this year due to us shielding.

Friends in Spain say that they must leave soon due to immigration law and now that other European tourists can travel they are coming home!

Enjoy your empty MaryDoll
Same old, same old for us
Hoping everyone's day goes well

kittylester Mon 08-Jun-20 08:07:00

Morning all from, as dragonfly says, a grey North Leicestershire. It is also quite chilly.

We are off to the South of the county today to sit in DD3's garden and see Bertie, Persie and Wolfie- can't wait!

We also have a carpet on order though ours was only ordered on the day before lockdown. When ours is laid we need to buy 2 more chairs and some side tables. Scary prospect!

cornergran Mon 08-Jun-20 08:05:55

Morning Mick, morning All. Bright, sunny start to our corner of Somerset. Trying to get some enthusiasm for the week, sadly lacking. Mr C is due a call from the GP at some point today, Laundry to do. With luck a pleasant walk later. Be gentle with yourselves everyone.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 08-Jun-20 08:03:13

Good morning Mick and all x

The weather is not much better up the road Sar53 have just put the heating on!!! (Ha Ha H broached the childcare subject on Saturday as due back to work in September)

Ironing and washing today, not much else planned.

Keep safe and well folks ?

Sar53 Mon 08-Jun-20 07:53:03

Good morning everyone from a dull and wet Essex by the sea. What a difference a week makes when it comes to the British weather.
A quick garden visit to DH's eldest daughter yesterday to give her the news that he has taken voluntary redundancy. Her first words ' childcare', his first words ' I dont think so' !!!
No plans today, we will have to see if it stops raining.
Have the best day you can and stay safe everyone xx

Gingster Mon 08-Jun-20 07:41:39

A grey good morning to all, from Essex. Drizzling a bit and I have a friend coming for coffee in the garden ☔️. Oh dear I suppose we’ll have to cancel. ?

We also have the SKY man coming to update our system. We’ve been waiting since February. He’s due between 8 and 5. ?. I hate hanging around but nothing else to do.

Scentia where do you get your energy from? 25 miles walking a day? I think you did jolly well doing 12 on Saturday. I love a walk but 5 miles is my absolute limit.

urmstongran how our weather has changed with you having a rainy spring and us basking in the sun.. Now the complete opposite. Hope our sun returns next week, after rain refreshing the gardens ?

Did anyone watch the last of Killing Eve? . I’ve loved this series but thought last nights episode was very weak. My friends DH was in it as an extra, sitting in the betting shop. ?. I think there’s another series in the can.

Enjoy your days. ?

Nortsat Mon 08-Jun-20 07:31:40

Good morning Mick and the GM team.
Your days sound lovely Urms.
Apricot and strawberry jams in your pantry Pantglas - yum.
Gosh, you’ve got plenty of energy Scentia, I think your fitness levels are admirable.

Grocery delivery today and veg box delivery.

My ‘wretched phone’ is fully operational and is now restored to just ‘phone’ status.
I have ordered a box of cheese for my nephew, as a surprise. The company is based in Northumberland and they make hampers and parcels of cheeses and chutneys. I hope it’s a nice surprise.

My day will be a bit of housework, some cooking and some tapestry stitching. I was saying to a friend yesterday my (shielding) world is small but quite happy. Let’s hope that continues.

Have a good day, all and ‘let’s be careful out there’. ?

brook2704 Mon 08-Jun-20 07:28:12

Good morning everyone from a sunny Inverness - yeahhhh the suns come back at last !

The earlier posts made me smile this morning from the birds chirping away with panthlas , beechnuts new outdoor lights, grandMatties DS coming home and not to mention urmstons idyllic lifestyle - I so much want to get on a plane to Malaga right now ! And of course Marydoll will be looking lovely for the camera ?

Never mind I’ll make the most of today, the sun is shining so will get back out in the garden - I might even message DD2 and see if I can pop round later !

What a shame though scentia about your coast to coast ! It’s on our list to do too

I hope everyone finds something to enjoy today and has the best day they can

Take care ?

Urmstongran Mon 08-Jun-20 07:26:19

I’m not too keen on sand either Marydoll! I can well recall the days of lying on a towel .... ugh! Nowadays I’m for the comfort of a sunbed with a big fat cushion with my beach towel on it. I do love swimming in the sea though!

Puzzler61 Mon 08-Jun-20 07:20:01

Good morning Mick and all from a bright Worcs. Everthing in the garden looks so green from my window , and it’s all growing madly after the short showers of the last few days.

Yesterday was very relaxing, and DH was in football heaven as he watched the rerun of World Cup final in ‘66. Sir Geoff Hurst, Glen Hoddle, Chris Camara and several other pundits were guests from their homes commenting on it. Himself sat in his chair with a couple of Brew dog beers with a smile on his face (knowing that England won) and I had complete peace. ?
Today we’re preparing for a carpet fitting tomorrow. The original fitting date was day after lockdown was announced and so was cancelled. At that point the room had been emptied. Since then the furniture has gone back in and so it needs to be brought out. I’m stretching my muscles in readiness to help. ?
I wish all who are jamming, washing the car or sitting on a beach a really good day. Stay safe grans ?

Bellasnana Mon 08-Jun-20 07:19:59

Good morning from Malta where it is looking like another sunny day is in store.

Today is DD3 and DSiL’s first wedding anniversary and I honestly can’t believe how the year has flown. Thank goodness it wasn’t this year as it wouldn’t have happened.

I’m going to have to force myself to get out of the house today as I’m becoming a recluse.

Wishing you all the best day possible.☀️?

Marydoll Mon 08-Jun-20 07:15:40

Good morning all from a cool and cloudy Glasgow.

DH is playing golf, so hopefully I will have peace this time to enjoy my empty.

A pretty busy day yesterday. Cooking, baking and some social distancing of 2 metres, as my wee DGD kept reminding me. It was so lovely to see her.

My lovely neighbour picked up some goodies at Home Bargains for me. She said she tried to imagine what would appeal to me and came back with a bag of random stuff! grin.
She actually was pretty spot on!

I never managed it into the garden yesterday, to do my transplanting, so that is my plan today.

Realising my Blue badge is due to expire, I went online to discover I should have done it 8 weeks ago, no excuse for not doing it, I've had plenty of time! I was sure it was eight weeks before!
The dilemma was how to get a passport size photo for the online application, so I have installed a passport photo app on my tablet. Watch this space: I'm going to wash my hair and put on full makeup for the first time in twelve weeks, as of course I don't want to look like an old biddy in the photo! wink

Grandmattie, you must be so excited to have your son coming home.
No jam making for me this year Pantglas, as I usually make it based on what fruit is cheap in the shops and of course, I can't get to the shops!!!
I have an electric jam maker, which has been great over the years, no stress trying to get the perfect setting point.

Enjoy your day on the beach, Urmston. ?? For once I don't envy you, that is my worst nightmare, I hate sand! grin.

Sending hugs to Bluesapphire, I hope she is ok , as she is very quiet again.

dragonfly46 Mon 08-Jun-20 07:10:23

Good morning from a dull Leicestershire.

Ocado delivery today with no substitutions and then a blood test at the local hospital.

Hope everyone has a good day.

grandMattie Mon 08-Jun-20 06:56:09

urms I used to confuse Casado with Cansado! ( married and tired) I’d often be very married indeed... ?

Scentia Mon 08-Jun-20 06:53:49

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire. A little grey out there today. A day at the factory today before I go on a night shift at my other job tonight. I have some deliveries to do this morning after the dog walk and they happen to be near to DD’s so I may get ‘stuck in traffic’ and pop in the garden for a coffee if it isn’t raining! (Not sure the traffic jam excuse will work on DH as there is still very little traffic around here.?)
It is the day my dog and I we’re supposed to be going to start the Coast to Coast but that is all off now. After my 12 miles at the weekend I am sort of glad as I was to be doing 25 miles a day and my foot is only just recovering after 12 miles on Saturday?. I think I need to re evaluate my fitness!!
Have a lovely day today everyone and stay safe?

grandMattie Mon 08-Jun-20 06:53:05

Morning all from a grey chilly E Kent. We’ve got the heating on to take the chill off the morning. In June!!!
Ooh, Pant, sounds delicious. I haven’t seen inexpensive local strawberries here yet. We grow fabulous ones. Apricot jam! Love it. Can’t jam for another two weeks as the painters are now occupying the kitchen, etc.
Beech, our car would die of shock if washed...?
Fiddling about today, wishing time away until the decorators leave.
Fabulous news. My DS1 has got himself a ticket home from Delhi for Saturday. Can’t wait for him to come back (after quarantine, of course).
Have a serene day. Carpe diem...
Stay well, stay safe.

Urmstongran Mon 08-Jun-20 06:47:14

Very dry humour Mick!

Sun’s up here! ?
Good morning everyone from Malaga ?

We are off to spend the day on the beach today ? Yay!
I need to dig out a swimsuit and a beach dress. We will take sandwiches I think. Buy chilled water from a kiosk. Himself is just off for his walk first.

We spent the afternoon on the paseo and ate lunch at a chiringuita. Not all of them are open yet - about half I’d say. We sat outside - it was so hot we were glad of the huge white parasol over our SD table! Himself had mussels and a small rack of BBQ sardines. I enjoyed roasada a la plancha with sliced Spanish potatoes cooked in oil with peppers.

I used to get confused between rosada (fish) and rosado (rose wine) until I decided that the ‘o’ is like the circle of a wine glass ...
?

I had to put my lipstick in the fridge when we came back up as the metal tube was hot!

Our eldest daughter starts a new job today (speech & language therapist) in Yorkshire and our youngest daughter returns to work full time as a teacher in Trafford - she’s been setting up classrooms most of last week in preparation.

Hope Monday is good to us all. Keep safe everyone that’s the main thing. x
