I am so very sorry. My computer has died on me. Am having to use MacS's and am in a bit of a pickle. Just wanted to open this new kitchen and try to catch up later.

Maw I'm relieved to hear that you have been to the vet with dear Hattie. She looks very happy to be back in her own home. We are rooting for her. She is a VIP...very important pet. Please let us know how she responds to her antibiotic. Hoping that tomorrow's news is more encouraging.

I'm away for today. Need to do something for a pal who is to be presented with a surprise thank you gift later in the week. She and some volunteers have worked wonders around the village. Painting iron railings, erecting lovely wooden benches and planting scores of colourful flowers in all manner of attractive containers. Her efforts are to be recognised by the entire village (all standing outdoors and strictly following all the guidelines). Even the police have been notified.

Thinking of you all. Hoping to be back with you in our kitchen tomorrow. smile moon

kittylester Mon 13-Jul-20 16:45:52

Poir Hattie! And poor Maw. Hope she is ok.

cornergran Mon 13-Jul-20 17:07:06

Thank you for letting us know maw. Think you both deserve some pampering and an early night.

Grandmafrench Mon 13-Jul-20 17:13:41

Hello Kitchen peeps!

Missed you again soop. Never mind, I can't take it personally because you are doing good things for someone who obviously deserves the best from all your village. Isn't it lovely when people show they care for the place and people where they live.

What a little treasure MawB - is she Greyhound or part Greyhound? If so, that would explain her soft and gentle and calm nature. It's funny, so many think that Greyhounds should be quite mad because of what they represent. Retired ones are normally the calmest, kindest most sweet natured creatures. Do hope that she makes a rapid recovery now and stops you worrying. You will be tired - perhaps not as obviously so as your pooch but all the stress is always exhausting. Hope you can relax a little now and your mind has been put at rest. The First Aid for your wallet will hopefully be available soon! grin

Hi Doodle. Thank you for your kind thoughts. Our friends were thrilled to have visitors, but we were worried about tiring them. It was also VERY hot. The wind died on their terrace and I did eventually feel that I might be joining the wind. However, today is hotter. I have just had to have words with one of my cats who is completely flat (like something out of Tom & Jerry) underneath a deckchair. He is in the shade but it is 35 degrees so, even for a puss cat, it's a bit o.t.t. Definitely be able to fry an egg in the courtyard - should I suddenly feel the need.

Sorry to hear about your Son's job Doodle. It's small comfort that so many are struggling. I'm sure he will find something even better, but it's a worry. My Son's business hit the decks months ago. Websites, video filming, sound production and music? Forget that. That's "luxury" stuff now and all his work was cancelled in the space of a couple of days when the UK went into lockdown. We all live in hope though, don't we? As long as he's well!

Charley you make Tara sound like a commuter! My DH suggested that the lame brain people who organised your mini cab might just have booked your return journey for that time? Or not! Whatever new treatment you may be having for your eyes, let's keep everything crossed that it's completely successful. What's a misplaced mini cab between friends?
grin

I'm going to try very hard to post a pic of my Sunday friends just one year ago at their 60th wedding anniversary party. If it doesn't work, I shall try it another time.

I think it's time (here) for a "wee G & T" before supper gets organised. The dogs have just had their banquet - a portion of rice with vitamin oil, a large amount of chopped cooked veggies and a portion of cold roast chicken. Hopefully that will sedate them enough for us to sit down peacefully and have a "wee G & T" before our supper.

Have the best evening you can everyone. Thinking of you all.
Hugs from the furnace that is French France. x

What a lovely pic Grandmafrench
Hattie is indeed a greyhound, my fourth and they are the gentlest softest dogs out. She does not have an aggressive bone in her body.
The second pic is of the lovely Gracie whom we lost 3 years ago .

Puzzler61 Mon 13-Jul-20 17:38:55

Please don’t let your cats fry in the courtyard Grandmafrench. You’re having such high temperatures - is it coming from Africa by chance? Or just normal at this time of year?
Your friends look so young. They can’t be the age you said! ?
What a beautifully dressed couple. It’s just so devastating they have life-changing illnesses now.
We all need to live the best life we can, while we can.
I hope you enjoy your pre dinner G&T. Cheers! ?

I arrived at 2 pm for my appointment. Somebody had the grace to tell me the truth, that my appointment had been changed, the cab booked but somebody had forgotten to inform me. I was home just before 6 pm. No cup of coffee offered but that is not new. This carries on monthly for at least another couple of years!

I could easily organise that department but I doubt if my interference would be appreciated.

It is always an easy evening when I return because I can see very little for about 6 hours or more so I always have something prepared to pop in the microwave.

The lodger should be home within the hour and she, like Hattie will rest her eyes.

I do hope Hattie feels better after a night's sleep. If her evil mum is squirting water in her mouth so frequently she may well feel the need to tuck her head under her paws.

Grandmafrench I do not know how cats can tolerate such heat- she will be sizzling.
TOYA

How sweet she is - and Gracie. She's reclining against the chair with limbs arranged more like a Ballerina than a dog. So refined ! Presumably the joke about her eyes being closed - a lot - which Charley makes, is based on her facial expressions since she is constantly in relaxing mode! Every retired Greyhound (rescued) I have ever known has always been so quiet, so loving and so chilled. They must surely be good for one's nerves. Imagine what gentle stars they would be for pet visits to Nursing Homes!

One of the funniest photos I have ever seen was one when some animals were taken to my very elderly Mum's Nursing home for a cuddle with afternoon tea. It was such a surprise - a photo of my Mum sitting in a chair but cuddling a sheep! It was so incongruous but hilarious and went down well with the residents. I was assured that, although I couldn't see it in the photos, the sheep in question was wearing pull up waterproof pants !

Puzzler keeping up with my 3 cats requires a doorman, a chef, and a cat bed organiser. They are in and out of our house like the little people in a cuckoo clock. No one is currently frying in the courtyard - they don't even have a tan - but the little chap under the deckchair has since come indoors and is now actually snoring in an armchair with the aid of the air conditioning. The high temperatures are not unusual. Today's are from the South - North Africa as you guessed.

Glad you liked the photo of our friends. They are French and she is 85 and he is 90. Absolutely true ! Fingers crossed they have the strength to just keep on going......

I have enjoyed a G&T, thank you, but cheers/santé to you, Mr P and that little Tabby person. Ciao for now.

grandmafrench thank you for your kind thoughts. I hope your sons business picks up. That’s a lovely photo of your friends. Really nice. Was it really their 60th anniversary. They don’t look old enough.
maw hope Hattie makes a speedy recovery poor girl. She looks comfortable on the sofa though. Hope the meds work soon.
Go on charleygirl I dare you. Get in there and give them a good talking too. Schoolmarm mode. I’m sure you’d have them whipped into shape in no time ?
Hope you have a restful evening and Tara comes in to keep you company,

My DiL died peacefully in hospice this morning. Thank you for all your support over these last harrowing years. As I’m sure you will understand things have been fraught and busy. I’ll get back in touch when I can. Please believe me when I tell you that I’ve appreciated all your kindness even though I’ve neglected tell you.
