Good afternoon, one and all.
Hi Annie, bless you for remembering!

Had to go for a mammogram this morning, and was not looking forward to it at all. I had thought the car park would be less crowded, but no such luck. DH left me at the entrance and went to search for a space. I was seen quickly and able to phone for DH to pick me up. Luckily after a couple of turns round the car park, he was able to get a space. The only trouble was, the spaces are now so narrow, that once he was parked, he couldn't open the door wide enough to get out to pay; and he is the slimmer one! So he just sat tight.

Still gently raining here, and looks set for the rest of the day. To keep occupied, I am crocheting a case for my phone.

Enjoy the rest of the day, one and all.

Listening to the news. Nicola is moving into phase two. ‘Marydoll’ take care until you have been to the hospital❤️

Good afternoon all! Bit late to the morning thread! I did do my cycle ride this morning Newquay. Dry here although I do cycle in the rain if not too heavy. I left at 7.15 and it takes one and a half hours to cycle the 20 miles around Bassenthwaite. I have been doing it every day for several weeks now and I love it! I must be getting a bit fitter.

Good? Morning everyone from the Gower, where the rain has settled firmly into place. To be fair it's the first time for a good while here, apart from a few light drops. We thought that there was going to be a, thunderstorm yesterday evening but three rumbles and it was gone.

Sentia, it does sound like sciatic pain, though I hope not. It's something I suffer with both due to a deteriorative spinal condition and several nasty falls on stairs. I do hope you recover quickly ?.

???? for all of you who are feeling down in these strange times, Greyduster, Susan and harrigran .

What are these big companies playing at Marydoll! They often seem to be the ones who provide laughable (if it was not so bl..Dy annoying) service. Glad you gave them an earful ?.

No particular plans today, except my usual group quiz.

Be kind to yourselves everyone ❤️

Good morning from a very wet and miserable East Midlands.

I’m going to sort out paints and brushes for a painting day outside tomorrow, weather permitting. Social distancing and all that.

I wish DH would go out for the day and stop following me around like a little puppy dog!!!!

Take care and stay safe and sane.

Good morning from a very wet East London , haven’t posted much lately as feeling quite negative and down .I have e joyed reading all of your lovely posts though .My sleep is also very up and down and often no up and about till 8.30 .Had some disappointing news yesterday, our Cornwall holiday with my sister and husband and family is cancelled .It was due early July for one week but the company has informed my BiL that even if lock down is over ,they have to have three days between each stay ,which would leave us only 3 full days ,too far to travel for such a short time .My ever the optimist DSiL is still hoping for a Gîte holiday in France to which I am cordially invited !
It’s pouring here at the moment and noticed that the gutter in the front is leaking . I had them checked and cleaned out last week by a young chap recommended to me . I certainly won’t be recommending him on ! Must now get dressed and ready for another day, I was supposed to be meeting a friend for tea in her garden ,maybe not ... ?

Good Morning - all you endlessly entertaining peeps - from a very warm, sunny/cloudy S of ??.

marydoll you receive a gold star for your re-entry into Glasgow society, I think. They must all be reeling, especially after a bit of a break from your high standards (good luck with that, by the way!). I honestly have no idea how companies function at all when they are so stupidly inefficient. Everyone has their garage stories to tell. Give how scandalously high the charges are, you’d think they’d have got the hang of straightforward servicing by now....but no. They can’t even cope with making the necessary phone calls. Presumably the whole palaver is supposed to work by osmosis? Does this avoid you arriving when the place is closed? No! Hope that ear will require copious ice packs and that lessons are learned.

Not sure where you find your energy! I love to read how we all behave and react compared with our OH’s, for example. I’ll always give people a chance until the moment my intelligence is insulted - by one too many lies, excuses, ‘not my problems’ thrown at me.....or worse, disinterest. Then I fly. My DH compares me with one of our cats leaving the litter tray...the excitement is so intense, she does a wall of death race around the house, sometimes vaulting over the dog’s bed like a lunatic. Of course, she’s only 15 and as light as a feather - and I never use the litter tray, but I know what he means. My reactions and indignation will sometimes leave him breathless. He, on the other hand, is a lot more measured and determined. I don’t always subscribe to ‘slow and steady wins the race’ but often it’s better if it’s going to impact your health. So, although you make us laugh, you take care when setting this very flawed world to rights!

EV I need to be more like you...fire, flood, storm and tempest, irate letterbox owners and vacuum cleaners in revolt, you just get on with something else!? Hope the weather improves soon and you have good news of your little girl.

Greyduster, Susan Harri chins up.....feel stronger soon. Scentia please rest and wait for the pain to go. Nortsat so pleased you’re improving. BlueSapphire let us know how you’re doing.

Nfk rain in Norfolk? Imagine that. Here we don’t ever get pissistent rain any more, just a storm. Whenever I find out the 300 days sunshine per year is a lie, we shall move. Fine so far!

Have a safe day, GM folks - good to hear some are venturing out. Take care, be happy. Hugs ???

BladeAnnie Thu 18-Jun-20 09:53:19

Good morning all from a very wet mid-Notts. I've been having a bit of a wobble but Marydoll I had to laugh at your last post!! Bet he didn't know what had hit him!! Sainsbury's delivery this afternoon but other than that a quiet day on the cards. Stay safe everyone and may Thursday be kind to us all x

Newquay Thu 18-Jun-20 09:52:12

Good morning from a very wet Staffs. As OP said we’ve had heavy rain, thunder and lightning for several nights now but it’s going to be all day today.
Yesterday, such excitement-aHUGE lorry carrying a tanker for medical oxygen crawled past on the A road near to us. There’s going to be 3 more at some point.
We had a poorly pigeon in the garden yesterday-should think it would have had a miserable night in this rain. Hope it’s shuffled off this mortal coil by now.
Great sympathy about your back Scentia-I’ve had persistent low back pain for some time now, wear and tear. It’s proper miserable even in bed. Hope yours goes soon.
Hope everyone has as good a day as possible.
Presumably momb won’t do her cycle ride this morning in this heavy rain?

Marydoll Thu 18-Jun-20 09:39:05

We have just had a phone call from the garage, I think the caller may be regretting calling us with his lame excuses!!
He wasn't calling to apologise, just to ask us to settle the bill. ?

The service manager may need to see a doctor about his sore ear.

EBear Thu 18-Jun-20 09:31:28

Good morning from a wet Norfolk. No thunderstorms luckily, they are my worst nightmare. The strawberry plants in the garden are looking perky this morning which is a blessing.

Car in for a service today, all done very well in these challenging times, couldn't have asked for more protection at the garage.

Zoom family quiz tonight which will be nice.

Glad Gillybob seems to be having some better luck, I can't wait to see my GS.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Brunette10 Thu 18-Jun-20 09:31:22

Good Morning to all from a brighter Fife. Have taken a very long time to get out of bed this morning, will see how the rest of the day goes. I hope everyone has a good day.

EllanVannin Thu 18-Jun-20 09:28:46

Good Morning All x
Not saying much about the weather except that it's disgusting with the 5th thunderstorm last night. A watery sun now and another threatening sky---flaming June it is, with different connotations. Not a million miles from me a house was struck by lightening and set on fire Tuesday night and a part of Liverpool was flooded with a chap sailing down the road in a canoe !

A later INR this afternoon of which the results seem to be a hit and miss of late but you never know.

Not the best of weeks as my daily newspaper had been posted through the wrong letterbox-----after all these years. The regular chap must be on holiday. Neighbour in the next road was quite shirty about them going through his letterbox shock

Then, as I was about to hoover up, I switched on and clunk. The bloomin' thing decided it didn't want to work. It's not an old one but was expensive as it's a Shark and not exactly heavily used. I rang my D and she told me to leave it to her to have some strong words with the company.

I remember those " blanket men " on the shores of North Africa in the '70's and police on horseback used to chase them and use whips swinging them like a lariat ! I don't remember seeing them in Spain, unless we missed them. They are pests though.

Scentia your pain sounds like a sciatic one around the rump area. You'll have to have a go on your bicycle and see if it shifts. It's not nice though as it affects " all " of you.

The resident blackbird is singing its little heart out and it sounds beautiful against the calm and quiet atmosphere.

Must make a move and wash around the bathroom after I've visited it, then wash breakfast dishes and that's me done for the day grin----can't even hoover now.( a fine excuse )

Hope everyone's remaining well and safe with not too much damage in the garden by the heavy rain. Enjoy your day xx

Hymnbook Thu 18-Jun-20 09:21:55

Morning everyone. It's been raining here since the early hours. I couldn't sleep last night only had about 2 hours. Veg delivery lovely fruit and vegetables. Hope l will be able to use everything hate to waste anything. It's so much easier than dragging it all back from town on the bus. Better quality to. Hope you all have a good day.

Mapleleaf Thu 18-Jun-20 09:14:25

Good morning from a wet South Yorkshire.

Pilates class today. Not sure what's in store for the rest of day. The socially distanced garden chat with neighbours looks unlikely today as the rain is set to be in for the day and get heavier.

Sorry you feel low today greyduster and hope you feel more like your usual self very soon. ?

To all feeling down, in pain or sad, I hope today will bring you some improvement. Take care. ?

I haven't read all the posts properly, so apologies if I've missed anyone's birthday, etc. Will read them all properly later.

Keep safe and sound everyone.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 18-Jun-20 09:13:09

I good morning Mick and all x

We have had a lot of rain overnight, it is a very grey looking morning here in S E Essex.

After being on Grandma duty yesterday, which consisted of getting a very fractious 5 month old to sleep and when he nodded off I had to lay on the sofa with him in my arms. DD slept on the other sofa on and off until school pick up time. The joys of a teething baby ? I do hope they had a good sleep last night. (They moved in with us just before lockdown, and returned to their own home two weeks ago, so we have been in our own family bubble)

Nothing planned I would like to try yet again to visit the local garden centre but the weather is against me.

Marydoll nothing is ever simple for you is it ??

Wishing I could wave a magic wand to make all of the Morning Gangs troubles and worries disappear.?

Keep safe and well folks ?

gillybob Thu 18-Jun-20 09:10:21

Good morning from the NE coast where we have yet another dark, grey, damp, cold and miserable day. Haven’t seen any sunshine for almost 2 weeks now .

It a flying visit as I have to be at “that place” in half an hour to do an HMRC webinar . “How exciting” I hear you say. grin

Have a good Thursday one and all and thank you to everyone who commented on little Evie Button’s new shoes yesterday, she picked them herself and her mummy said they were perfect smile

Love Gillybob x

Nortsat Thu 18-Jun-20 09:09:17

Good morning Mick and the GM team, from a grey, wet east London. I must say the air is nice and fresh after so much rain.

Greyduster, sorry you are feeling low today. Hope things improve for you.?
Ginny your reference to online meetings made me laugh and was very funny. I think you have been patched into some of mine! You are right, it’s like the start of a comedy sketch... ?
NfkD I laughed at your comment that the rain is ‘persisting’ it down. That’s a clever play on words ... which I intend to pinch (I don’t think you’ll mind?).

I am feeling better today and consequently more optimistic. My meds are doing their job, sometimes I think steroids are a miracle drug because they have such an instant impact. I bless the person who developed them ...
(Of course I appreciate their misuse causes misery but for those of us who need them, they are marvellous).
Have a good day all and ? for those facing challenges.

mancgirl Thu 18-Jun-20 09:05:19

Good morning from a rainy Manchester. Had heavy rain, thunder and lightening for 3rd evening running last night. Meant to be having a garden lunch with Dil, her mum and gs's today. Already been cancelled twice. Maybe next week! Saw the oldest gs yesterday in his garden so things are getting better. I even went into a local cardshop yesterday, whoo hoo! Pottering today as the lunch is off. Have a good day everyone. (((hugs))) for those in need flowersfor those with extra cares and worries. Some days are just pants!

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Nannytopsy Thu 18-Jun-20 08:52:48

Good morning Mick and all his followers from a wet and dry Suffolk. Very wet outside and we have clearly had a lot of rain as the gravel soak away is full of water. Very dry inside, as there isn’t any mains water. It seems there is a burst main just up the lane and they hope to reconnect us by midday. Do we have our coffee now or later?? ?
You had a day of frustration Marydoll - I hope someone is on the receiving end today!
Scentia - ouch! That sounds suspiciously like sciatica. Alternating hot and cold compresses may help.
Well I hope you Scots gels enjoy the sunshine and cheery thoughts to everyone with the blues.

Good morning all from a grey and muggy Glasgow.
I must have been up at least half a dozen times in the night. I feel as if I have been on the booze! If only!

Yesterday's trip to the garage was interesting to say the least!
I was a wreck by the time I got there. I hadn't realised that the speed limit had been rescinded during lockdown.
I have never see so many impatient boy and girl racers on the road. One young man tried to overtake a bus and me, realised he had nowhere to go and was left facing oncoming traffic on the wrong side of the road!?
Remember this is Scotland and nearly everything is closed, so where were they going in such a hurry? ?

We have been using a family run Honda franchise for over twenty years and the service has been outstanding until it was taken over this year by a major car company.
My experience with my car in March was bad, but DH's was even worse.
Now DH is not a man to make a fuss and wouldn't phone to ask about the progress of his car, but when it got to five o'clock and he hadn't heard, I suggested he ring. He should have had the car back at one o'clock. ?
It was a simple service with a prepaid plan, but we had to take all the original paperwork, to prove we had one, as they couldn't access the previous companies records!!
DH couldn't get to speak to anyone and waited for a call back. Nothing!!!

Eventually I insisted on going to the garage. It was already 6pm. It's a half an hour journey, we got their and all the gates to this massive car complex ( lots of franchises) were closed and I had to drive about, trying to find a way in.
We eventually got there to find a lone salesman waiting with DHs key. No paperwork and didn't know where DH's car was in this massive complex.
DH of course, meekly accepted the key and went looking for his car.? Ten hours to do a service!!

I shall be very busy today, contacting everyone and anyone. I have the name of the managing director of the whole company, so I will be contacting him. Phew rant over! ?

To add insult to injury, I spotted TKMaxx, and all my favourite shops in the retail park, adjacent to it. Don't even think about it , said DH. We have kept you safe for fourteen weeks, don't ruin it now, when you are going into hospital.
What a spoilsport! wink

I'm hoping it will stay dry today , if not I plan to make a start on my craft room.
I'm donating my Sissix machine to my future DIL. She wanted to borrow my equipment to make her wedding invitations, but I no longer use them, so she can keep them.
A win, win situation for both of us.
One less thing for my family to clear out! wink

Kalu, you could have dropped in for a socially distanced coffee.
People in your neck of the woods are doing the right thing and being careful, unlike the people we saw in the petrol station.
We stopped off in Paisley for DH to fill up my car with petrol. DH had his gloves and mask and I stayed in the car to stay safe.
The petrol station was very busy , but not one single person wore a mask or gloves.
DH went into pay and despite the area being lined off, no- one observed social distancing. People were going the wrong way and pushing to get past. He said it was quite scary.

I'm going to cut my hair, I hope it turns out better than DH's. I thought I had picked up the thinning scissors, but had actually picked up the very sharp cutting ones. He hasn't noticed the bald patch yet!?

Have a good day all. I hope those who are feeling low perk up.?

Grandmabatty Thu 18-Jun-20 08:34:26

Good morning from Polmont in Central Scotland. It's cloudy at the moment but yesterday started off the same way and became a beautiful sunny and warm day so high hopes for the same today. I had a lovely catch up with family yesterday. We met at a park close to my son's flat and had a socially distant picnic. My aunt and uncle came and brought lovely strawberries and their enormous dog who doesn't understand social distance! It was so nice to sit outside with family and chat in the sunshine. Today I'm not going anywhere, just pottering. Have a good day to you all x

jacq10 Thu 18-Jun-20 08:24:20

Good morning from the north of Scotland. Bit grey at the moment but, as Kula said, it was like this yesterday and brightened up with some sunshine later on. I understand how you feel Greyduster and I think many of us feel the same. I am feeling more upbeat today having been out yesterday with car for MOT and I have a landscaper coming today. I have a substantial amount of Indian sandstone in my drive as work was meant to start two weeks ago. The contractor was okay to start after the first easing of lockdown but he has had a lot of work to catch up on. He is calling round today to discuss the job and at the moment I am thinking it should be postponed until autumn! I have a large sloping garden and everything (including large shrubs and small trees) is in full bloom which will make his work difficult. I will go with whatever he wants as he is in demand and I don't want to lose him. I need steps and paths replaced to make them safe as am very wary of another fall!!
