Good Morning Everyone,
Its grey and wet out there in brackley , with the remains of a tropical storm than has come across i gather.
Anyway today will be Bicester , I want to check out the bakery cafe hoping I can get a coffee and something to eat as well.
Will give me about an hour there as well plus a look in Sainsburys .
They are building in Sainsburys here and its looking good in away of progress.
Take Care ,
Mick

Good morning from a grey E Kent. Hope promised rain materialises. No point being dark and grey for nothing...
Wow, Mick, almost back to your old routine with all this gallivanting!
I’m meeting a friend for coffee this morning. We do see each other at Tai Chi every week, but never have a chance to talk when we have coffee afterwards - several others are either more assertive or needier.
Otherwise same old, same old.
I do count my blessings, that I manage well on our pensions, we own our house, we’re both in good health, but goodness - we need different conversations!
Have a peaceful day for those in need of peace (mind and body), a calm dat to the rest.

Good morning all! Dry start in Cumbria. Yesterday met some friends in Arnside ( Morecombe Bay) and had a walk and meal in pub garden. We had a lovely time. Day at home today except for morning cycle ride shortly. Wishing everyone a peaceful day especially those unwell or with worries.

Morning from Cornwall. The window next to my bed is open and a very soft rain is blowing in. Lovely. Today I'm trying out Wetherspoons for the first time since reopening, meeting a friend for coffee, then to my allotment to pick peas. Our (very popular tourist) town centre was packed with visitors yesterday, you couldn't easily distance from people. But the atmosphere was nice. The local ferries are starting up again so I'll be able to get on the water, yippee. Have a good day everyone who can.

Good morning Mick and all his followers.
Still raining in Suffolk - that’s enough now thank you!
Today we have a Click and Collect to pick up and the Granddog to walk but not much else going on. I must get on with the patchwork Christmas stockings I started.
I hope the day is kind to everyone.

Morning Mick, morning All from a damp corner of Somerset. Slept well so much more cheerful. Very lucky yesterday, our trip out coincided with two hours of dry weather. How lucky were we? Back to faffing today, hope for a walk, need to build stamina again. Be gentle with yourselves everyone, be careful out there.

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire. Wet and grey out there today. Sounds like Mick and others are slowly entering some sort of normal life. That makes me posit about our factory maybe picking up some more work soon, even though we rely on manufacturing to liven up it is an indication that life may be returning to normal.
I built my DGS a new bed last night, ordered it at 5.00pm from Argos and it arrived and was built by 9.00pm unbelievable! Hope he manages in a bed as I think he may be stopping next weekend ? but he is just too tall for the travel cot!
Off to the factory today and then out to see friends tonight, this will be the first time we have visited anyone but my DD in 4 months!! I am a little anxious about it, I hope they are as careful as we are at wiping down.
Gilly I hope you have some good news in the order front at “that place” soon, I know from experience just how stressful little or no work is and it must be worse for you as you employ people, my DH only has me.❤️
I do hope, despite this wet weather we all manage a smile at least once today. Take care everyone and stay safe.

Morning everyone from sunny ☀️ Andalusia where I’ve only just woken up to a chamberpot ☕️ - DH turn to be up early unable to sleep!

Lovely to see you all going out and having coffee/lunch etc - I’m refusing to cook for the first week in mi Casa to make up for not eating out for the last six months! And of course it’s important to support the little bars/bodegas who haven’t had as much support as those in the UK.

Have a great day, regardless of the weather folks x

Mythbirtthedragon Thu 09-Jul-20 07:01:38

Good morning from A grey east London, where the rain has stopped for the moment. Yesterday, the weather was kind enough to allow me to play tennis then later in the afternoon, we took the GDs out to the Lea Valley. There’s a lot of tarmac paths there so GD1 was able to cycle her way about and it was easy to push GD2 in her buggy. DD stayed behind as she wanted to go shopping and fed us when we returned. Today is Thursday so foodbank this morning then last choir of the term tonight. It’s the big reveal of our surprise to our choir leader, just relieved I’m not having to cope with all the techie stuff. Have a good day.

Grammaretto Thu 09-Jul-20 07:07:56

Good morning Mick and all from the Scottish Borders. I was woken by the sun streaming in . must fit a blind .
Pub gardens were open here and busy which bodes well for businesses.
I hosted our knitting group in my garden although only 2 came and no knitting was done. I think we miss our chat more.
I must make more facemasks. It will be compulsory to wear them in shops from Monday when most shops reopen, even charity shops.
Hope today goes well for everyone.

Sar53 Thu 09-Jul-20 07:24:00

Good morning from a cloudy but brightish Essex by the sea. We had a lot of rain yesterday afternoon and it looks as though we had more during the night.
Food shopping is the order of the day here, nothing else planned. Each day seems to blend into the next.
Have a pleasant day and stay safe xx

Pittcity Thu 09-Jul-20 07:25:53

Good morning from rainy Colchester. Looks like another indoors day.
Jay's pub quiz with my family online tonight.
I feel no need to visit shops yet as I've grown so used to getting things delivered.

Brunette10 Thu 09-Jul-20 07:30:25

Good Morning from a bright Fife, quite pleasant out at the moment. Have some shopping to do today so will get on with that. Everything /everybody seems to be easing in quite a bit here in Scotland, notice a big difference in roads and public out and about. Bit strange for me yet. Will take it easy I think for a while yet. Met DD and DGS's yesterday and was such a joy to join them in the park. All DGS1 wants is to come for a sleep over, give it a while yet but try and explain that to a 4 year old sad. Hope everyone has a good day. Chin up.

Puzzler61 Thu 09-Jul-20 07:32:14

Good morning Mick and all from grey, wet Worcs.
With rain most of the evening I could practically see the grass growing, at least the bald patches are picking up where I dug out weeds and put grass seed down. It will all match up eventually.

I must get up swiftly today as my car is due at the dealership for its service and MOT. I said I’d drop it off at 9. AM
Then a supermarket delivery 11 - 12 NOON and DH is having a visit from his good friend. They’ll have a coffee and a natter in the Conservatory, Weather forecast indicates it won’t be a day for sitting in the garden as they have enjoyed in previous weeks.

Thinking of all who are at a loose end today, feeling low or suffering in any way. I hope you find solace. ?

Good morning Mick and all who follow. It's only 12°C here in Glasgow, with cloudy skies and a ray of sunshine poking through.

Nothing much to report apart from Nicola Sturgeon changing the rules for shielders. Shielders, living alone can form a bubble with one other household. The infection rate in Scotland is seven times less than in England, so the risks are now much lower.
I'm getting closer to freedom.

After a phone call from my son, who had been listening to the Scottish daily update, we went up to visit my granddaughter and had a lovely time in the garden. My son and DIL asked if we wanted to form a bubble with them and they would continue to distance from DIL's family since they have totally ignored Lockdown from the beginning.
Not wishing to put pressure on any of my family, I had decided not to mention a bubble and just shield until it was all over. I felt this was too much to ask of DIL, but she insisted that it was her choice.

The best part was that I got a hug for the first time in sixteen weeks. DS and family have allowed no-one in their home or garden and have been mostly isolating for the whole of lockdown, in order to keep me safe, when the time camefor shielders to form a bubble. I wept tears of joy! ?

The second bit of good news was that my hairdresser phoned offering a hair appointment. Of course, I can't go, but they suggested coming and cutting it in my garden with full PPE. I must admit, I'm sorely tempted!!! I will need to mull that one over.?

We (DH) spent yesterday morning thinning out the trees in our garden, to make DGD's den. No amount of nagging would have encouraged DH to tidy them up. It was only when I mentioned my wee granddaughter, he was out like a shot, without a complaint. Nothing is too good for her. ?
I employed the skills I used with reluctant pupils. A bit of a psychologist, am I. ?
DH positioned the half naked lady statue in the doorway of the Andy house and sent DDG a photo. She was outraged and told her papa to ask me to put clothes on her to cover her up!

Today DH is building my raised vegetable beds, I've only waited ten years for them. We shall see how that plays out.?

Hoping that Bluesapphire is making some progress and hugs for all who are struggling.
Have the best day you can everyone.

Beechnut Thu 09-Jul-20 07:34:40

Good Morning everyone from a dull, dismal and wet Severnside.

Upstairs cleaning and some admin for me to do today then I think I’ll do some sewing. I’ve seen a scarf type face mask and want to work out how to make it. I’m going to try it with an old sheet.

Take care all and have the best day you can ?☔️

Urmstongran Thu 09-Jul-20 07:39:12

Sun’s up here! ?
Good morning everyone from Malaga where it’s forecast hotter than yesterday ?

The beach was busier yesterday and around me I heard a group of English, a family from Ireland and another family who were German or Belgian. All on sun loungers and milky white skins so not locals!

I chipped my tooth about two months ago. It’s not sensitive and I’ve waited until dental surgeries have been up and running a while before making an appointment to have it repaired. Himself’s drinking buddy recommended one on Avda. de las Palmeras (Palm Tree Avenue). It’s a tidy walk - it will take us over an hour to stroll over there but hey, what else are we doing? I have an appointment at noon.

When I made the appointment I forgot we had arranged to meet friends for dinner tonight at 9pm. Hopefully the repair will be set enough! I’ll ask the dentist as we may have to reschedule if not.

Our table is booked at La Taperia. A traditional Spanish restaurant - all heavy dark wooden furniture and if we go I shall not need a menu. I always have Robo de Toro (oxtail). The meat just falls off the bone.

Hope Thursday (? already or is it just me) is kind to us all. Best wishes to you BlueSapphire you’re getting there (p.m. yesterday folks). Keep safe everyone that’s the main thing. x

brook2704 Thu 09-Jul-20 07:44:31

Good morning everyone from Inverness. Still dry, cloudy and not raining so I’ll settle for that. The sun actually turned up yesterday afternoon so I was very happy pottering in the garden. For me being outside is really calming, the minute I step out of the door I somehow just feel better, even if I’m just in the garden ?
Wow marydoll how brilliant! I was thinking of you and all the other shielders yesterday when listening to the daily update. I’m so pleased you got your long awaited and thoroughly deserved hug ❤️
I’ve got my mask ready too grammaretto ? DD2 ordered two cute ones for the DGC - a superhero and a pink unicorn!
Hope everyone finds something to enjoy today whatever it is, and for those with worries and troubles I hope the day goes well and please take care ?

Justwidowed Thu 09-Jul-20 07:55:56

Good morning Mick and everyone. Lancashire is dismal today but at least it's fine.
Am having an early breakfast as I'm going out for lunch with my neighbours. They have saved me hundreds of pounds by clearing the garage and not needing to hire a garage clearance comoany or even hiring a skip.
Our meal is booked for 12 noon when the restaurant opens so we should be pretty safe.I am so tired of cooking for myself so it's a big treat for me.
What do other GN's think of the 50% off for August diners. As long as we haven't had a second spike I shall certainly be using it even if I have to dine on my own.
Hope every one has a good day and that Marydoll and Gillybob improves soon .

kittylester Thu 09-Jul-20 07:58:26

Morning all from a wet North Leicestershire. We were supposed to meet DS1 for a picnic today but will have to put that on hold again. It is our 3rd attempt. sad

Sainsbury's delivery this afternoon.

Puzzler61 Thu 09-Jul-20 08:05:55

Marydoll your photo of the Andy House has made me smile, I think if I were inside and looked out at a half naked woman I’d be disturbed so I understand where your wee DGD is coming from! I think today you should find a nice piece of fabric and drape it around her like a toga ?
The news about getting a hug (and more to come) is Fantastic !

Grandmafrench Thu 09-Jul-20 08:09:05

Good morning everyone from the sunny South (???) where blazing summer days continue. Slept through the dog walk this morning - DH managed to sneak out whilst it was relatively cool and take the terrors for a walk. They always get home so excited - today I found that this is for breakfast, not for me!

Wonderfully positive post, Marydoll. Looks as if all your weeks of worry and care and following the rules have paid off and how wonderful that you should be chosen to ‘bubble’ with your DiL........made me smile.

Urms hope that the dentist works out well and tender oxtail may be easily consumed as planned and so pleased that Blue Sapphire is giving you better news now. Onwards and upwards - however slowly.

DH will be off to the hairdressers later and we are then going to wash the car before the sun swallows up the last bit of shade on our parking area. Normally like to use the car wash but if it means a queue and then, as is normal here, you aren’t allowed to sit inside the car whilst it’s cleaned...so that means standing around in the heat, we’ll do it so much more easily at home. The gulls, little fledglings, swallows and swifts have obviously been using it for target practice recently, it’s a disgrace, so efforts must be made.

Then out for the day - no shops, thankfully, just beautiful countryside. But first need to brush that pool and sweep up the last of the jasmine blossom which dries and gets into everything here and send a mail to an elderly French friend about Sunday. She/they invited us for Sunday lunch. We’re not yet doing indoor eating in other people’s houses, she is now having dialysis, has very bad Arthritis and his heart problems have increased since we saw them last. We said no to Sunday lunch but that we’d love to come and sit in the garden for tea, cake, coffee, an aperitif, just to chat and catch up later in the day. Thinking very hard about her current ability to do the whole French lunch thing, as well as social distancing. This morning received a message to say they are expecting us as 12.30 for the whole works! Now I have to write and say no, again!!! Wish people would listen. However wonderfully hospitable they feel, however keen they are to meet up, sometimes it’s a good idea to listen to what others want and are willing to do, as well.

Stupid to make a fuss, but it should be so easy!

Now eating a late breakfast and sterilizing a mask in preparation for the haircut later.

Seems as if the UK needs some blue skies very soon again . That’s enough water, I should think. Garden days should be back this weekend for some parts - or is that just a rumour? Whatever you’re doing, or not doing, keep safe and find some fun in your day, good people. Hugs x

Gingster Thu 09-Jul-20 08:13:12

Good morning all. Oh what a grey day! As Larry Grayson would say ?.

We’re having our septic tank emptied today , also neighbours one too. So our masks will come in handy. ?

harrigran Thu 09-Jul-20 08:15:53

Good morning from an overcast and damp underfoot NE.
Click and collect this morning, I have been eating a little more this week because the drugs require a full stomach.
Expecting a delivery for DIL's birthday which is next week.
Getting very bored with TV now, thought I would watch The Luminaries, dear me what a load of tripe. Another series dumped after one episode.
Take care all those who are mixing with others.

Gelisajams Thu 09-Jul-20 08:17:43

Good morning from a damp Morecambe Bay. DH is out running leaving me in bed with my cup of tea. Until yesterday I had a three quarter pint mug for my first drink of the tea. I must have had it for 30 years. It had Peter Rabbit decals on it and cost a fortune when bought! Yesterday it was consigned to the bin as it acquired a sharp chip. Possibly the victim of assault when the spice jar leapt out of the cupboard the other day. Anyway it’s replacement found in the back of the cupboard just isn’t the same!
Not a lot planned for today, just odds and ends maybe a visit to the bank to deposit a couple of £20 notes before they become museum pieces.
Nice to read Marydoll sounding more upbeat, take care and stay safe.?
