Good morning Michael and all GNs. It’s throwing it down in South Yorkshire. We are hoping for a window to take GS out for an hour or so to the pitch and putt, but I think we will be out of luck, and anyway I seem to be coming down with a cold. We went for a walk with DS and DiL when they were here yesterday and it was one of those afternoons when you were in and out of a waterproof jacket, warming up and cooling down! It was lovely to see them. Whatever you are doing today, have a good one and stay safe.

Morning All, grey and damp here too.Not usually up and buzzing about early but we had a 7.30 Ocado delivery. All packed away now and we are sitting in the warm conservatory
( warmest place in the house) slurping tea and munching buttered hot cross buns.Yum.
Grandson here for lunch with us, then a quiet afternoon, and two new books arrived yesterday so am spoilt for choice.?

Gingster Thu 09-Jul-20 08:30:02

Posted too soon ?.

I chickened out of going to the cinema yesterday. Although I love to go, it seems a bit too soon.

About 30 - 50 bird twitchers arrived on our beach yesterday afternoon and had their telescopes pointed out to sea. We could not see what they were looking at , so DH wandered down to have a chat, with his binoculars. He asked one young chap what they had seen and was told rudely to keep his distance. I wouldnt mind but they were all huddled together. Still dont know what had brought them all out . ! We also have a huge cruise ship anchored out at sea. As no cruises are operating , the liners are just wandering around the seas.

We’ll have a cosy day , with indoor pursuits. Reading and trying to carry on with my jigsaw. It seems almost impossible, but I’m determined. My DS and family are coming soon and my DIL can finish a jigsaw in a couple of hours, so I want to complete this one before she arrives. I’ve been doing it on and off for 3 weeks now ?.

Have a pleasant day all. ?

Good morning Mick and all x

Enjoy your day Mick keep safe

Very grey here in S E Essex but it has stopped raining. I am off to my gym in the park first thing.......I still have stiffness and aches and pains from Tuesday session, which goes to prove that I must have been cheating whilst exercising at home!!!'

Enjoy the sun and lifestyle Urmstongran , Pantglas and Grandmafrench I am getting increasingly envious. Just wish I could pluck up the courage to get on a plane.

BlueSaphire ??

Wishing you all a good day

Keep safe and well folks ?

Grandmafrench Thu 09-Jul-20 08:39:37

GrannyGravy I won’t get on a ‘plane either, otherwise I could visit family and friends in the UK. Just keep on keeping fit....better weather (and your day) will come ! ?

Love your naked lady Marydoll I have one just like it in the middle of our garden. My Mum used to call her 'that hussy' grin

Good morning from the NE coast where we have yet another miserable, grey and damp non-summer day. It reached the dizzy heights of 13 degrees on the coast here yesterday .

I spent most of yesterday jumping through hoops, looking at prices, ringing distributors and pleading for discounts to pass on to potential customers in the hope that we get an order this week . One of my lads has been wonderful and if only for him and no one else I am determined that we will get some positive news this week , otherwise I don’t know what we will do.

I was very disappointed with the budget yesterday and was sure that there would’ve been a drop in employers NI which is a crippling anti job tax . As it turns out there was nothing at all on offer to help small businesses recover . Speaking as one of the “forgotten Ltd ” I feel thoroughly let down.

Well that’s my rant over for today . I’m off to “that place” in less than half an hour . I seem to spend more time there these days than ever . When my DH was well I was down to 20 hours but now back up to 36 or more.

I have a hair appointment straight from work today . Dreading it as I hate the hairdressers at the best of times . My sister made the appointment for me, I didn’t ask her to as she knows how much I hate going. I’ve been cutting my own fringe so managing perfectly well. They have put their prices up considerably since lockdown which is another reason I could do without it. It’s not as though anyone will notice or even care what my bloomin’ hair looks like anyway.

Sorry, that’s definitely my last rant of today grin

Thinking of all those who are upset, poorly or under the weather and hoping for some much needed sunshine

Have as good a Thursday as possible everyone.
Love Gillybob x

Good morning from Shropshire where it’s raining again.

A day of cleaning and laundry today. We’re living the life here?

Glad you have had a hug off your DGD Mary and how lovely that your DIL has asked you to be in their bubble.I would think you would be safe having your hair appointment at home if she is going to wear full PPE.I went to the salon on Sunday and even there felt totally safe, hairdresser in mask, visor and plastic overall. If you are having a colour,I would recommend the disposable masks, one for while the colour is taking then a fresh one for the cut and dry.

I really hope you get some positive news at that place gilly??

How do you sanitize your face masks Grandmafrench?

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Good morning Mick and the GM team, from a grey east London.

We are planning some gardening this weekend and have bought some new tools, as ours are ancient and decrepit, which doesn’t aid efficiency.

Still shielding so nothing interesting to report.
If times were normal we would be preparing for two holidays, both centred around weddings. One was to be in West Sussex and we had planned a lovely extended stay in a Country House Hotel (wouldn’t that be nice ...)
The other was in Goa ... ah well ...

Some housework today instead.
We recently bought a Dyson handheld cordless vacuum and I can report we are very pleased with it. Very handy for little bits of vacuuming when you don’t want to get the big vacuum out. To anyone considering such a purchase, I would recommend it.

Have a good day all, ?to those facing challenges and hello to Bluesapphire. ?

Good morning all. Overcast here in Devon, sun is bright behind the cloud & it's warm. Hope it stays dry as I want to get the gloss out today & need to have doors & windows open.

Had a lovely day with DD & DGSs yesterday, 3 year old pushed his big brother away when he came to hug me goodbyegrin, so funny as he usually doesn't bother.

EllanVannin Thu 09-Jul-20 09:47:07

Good Morning All x
From a very soggy Mersey bay. It hasn't stopped raining for over two days now and it's looking positively saturated everywhere. I can beat Gillybob's temp. here yesterday----it was 14. It's July for God's sake !

I keep having a titter ( is that the right word grin at Marydoll's naked lady especially as it's brazenly standing at the " front door ".
Then drooling at the thought of Urmston's ox-tail---not that she has an ox's tail, but the meal containing it. When I had that a couple of months back it was delicious and next day what was left of the soup had set like a jelly---sooo good for you.

I'll be settling for sausage and mash today.

Love hearing of Grandmafrench's escapades too, so interesting as I picture being there. Loved France and the drives around the Northern districts. Still have a sparkly T.shirt of a much visited Mont St Michel, hardly worn.

It's actually given off raining and the cats are out so an opportunity to get the hoover on the go. Must also make an effort to tidy up as well.
Gee whizz there's just been a loud bang that shook the windows. I guess whatever it was will be in the news.

Hope everyone's keeping well and Mick's all but back to normal--wish I was as brave. Remain staying safe though. Best wishes to those who aren't too good xx

mancgirl Thu 09-Jul-20 09:49:28

Good morning from rainy Manchester. Had a hair appointment yesterday, my hair felt absolutely fab. Then did an outdoor zumba class in the evening and it threw it down. Still, out twice in one day is going some! Blood donation today. Not sure how that will work but about to find out. Marydoll those little hugs are the best aren't they? Have a good day everyone (((hugs))) for those who need one flowersfor those with extra cares and worries.

BladeAnnie Thu 09-Jul-20 10:04:58

Good morning all from a damp mid-Notts. Even his Lordship the cat didn't want to get his paws wet when I offered him the terrace/catio this morning!! I ordered some pink wool which arrived yesterday so I'm going to make a start on some knitting for a little girl who is due in October. We have a sainsbury's delivery arriving at lunch time so it's always salad day when the shopping arrives. Whatever you are doing have the best day possible and please stay safe x

CherryCezzy Thu 09-Jul-20 10:46:27

Good morning from Gower. It's raining. Again ?

The long awaited plumber cried off yesterday for an emergency, yeah right, more lucrative job more like. He said he will definitely come today, so he'd better. I give people a second chance but there won't be a third!

I've got an ever increasing pile of washing to do but hate drying it indoors but if I leave it much longer it will be misbehaving and jumping out of the wash basket ?. Tomorrow is meant to be dry so I will wait and put a load on overnight no matter what!
If my shoulders let me I will clean the cooker today as that is screaming for attention. Like you Susan I'm living the life here ?

gillybob, I too hate the hairdresser's, childhood trauma ? but it's got to the point where I hate the way my hair is more. Hairdressers aren't open here in Wales until next week and I desperately want to go but am meant to be shielding until August 16th. It is only guidance ... and I am sorely tempted ?. I've got ringlets now, I mean ringlets - for heaven's sake ?
I hope you get an order today gillybob ?

It really is lovely to hear that so many of you are getting out and about, eating out and especially hugging loved ones and forming bubbles. Marydoll, you sound like you've really perked up, has hugged loved ones and it's wonderful to know that you're DiL wants to form a bubble with you. It's fabulous news that Ms Sturgeon has opened up things in Scotland, especially for shielders, like you too Grammaretto ?

Grandmafrench, we always find that after our car or the outside of our windows have been freshly washed the birds take a particular shine to them and take the shine off ?

Thank you Urmstongran for the update on BlueSapphire. ? ?? for you *BlueSapphire.

Have a good Thursday everyone, ? for those struggling or unwell.
Be kind to yourselves everyone ❤️

Grandmafrench Thu 09-Jul-20 10:57:31

Ellan Good morning! Hope you noted the time/date of "the bang?" I always HAVE to know - maybe due to being brought up in the South West when Concorde was being tested on early flights out over the Bristol Channel. My Mum's china was permanently rattling to match her nerves!

My suggestion is that it could be one of two things, so hope you find out. 1. It could be Gillybob slamming the door of "that place" and going off on a day trip with Miss Buttons. or 2. It could be an aircraft going through the sound barrier.

Some years ago when we were in our garden in Normandy, we heard the most monumental explosion. Both decided that some building or other had possibly been blown sky high in Caen or Evreux, many miles away. Imagine our surprise on hearing that on that day, at that time, good citizens of Caernarfon (spelling?) in North Wales, threw themselves to the ground in the town and a butcher's windows had been blown out due to some very enthusiastic USAAF jets crossing the country from Suffolk and "forgetting" that they needed to be well out to sea before going through the sound barrier!!! Apologies from the Air Force Base Commander to the shocked folk of North Wales. I contacted the BBC who were running a story about it, to tell them that it deafened us 500 miles away, but no interest ! Hope yours was a plane and not some disaster. Enjoy your bangers and mash envy

Gwenisgreat1 Thu 09-Jul-20 11:26:57

Good Morning all from dreary Harrogate. I've nothing really planned for today apart from hopefully a chat with my friend North of the border, and a video chat with my sisters this evening, Making lunch, walking the dog, making tea - thats really it!

Grandmabatty Thu 09-Jul-20 11:41:49

Good morning (just) All. I've been up and about for ages but got sad news that my best friend's mum had died. Although it was coming, it has rocked me a bit and I really feel for her as numbers are still limited at funerals so she will have to choose who can go, which is the last thing she needs to be thinking about. Her mum was a lovely lady who hated fuss. Anyway, I'm waiting to hear from her if she needs me to do anything, otherwise I will be going to another friend's garden for a chat. The weather here in Polmont is bright with blue skies and some clouds so fingers crossed it stays nice. Yesterday I visited my mum for a chat and she was on good form. Then I bought toys with wheels for my little wolverine to play with at my house. Have a good day all.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 09-Jul-20 11:59:57

My condolences Grandmabatty ?

We had a new kitchen fitted 10 years ago and this morning I have just realised that the racks in the two larder cupboards are not only removable but adjustable.......I have been struggling all this time to clean the bottoms of crumbs and vegetable detritus ???

Late good morning from a sunny start in Glasgow.

My car was booked in for a service this morning which I was wary of doing but I had no need to worry as every precaution was in place as I followed their guidelines. All staff wearing masks.

Feeling brave we ventured to B&Q, no queue, not busy. On to Sainsbury’s, similar experience. Many people were wearing masks but I was pleased to hear Nicola Sturgeon has made it compulsory for everyone, as from tomorrow, to wear masks in shops to help stop spread the virus. Good news for those who are shielding too. How lovely it is to have that special cuddle Marydoll

Some new plants to pot and DD1 and girls popping in for another picnic later. More cuddles in store. ?

Have a pleasant day all and best wishes to you BlueSapphire and all who are having difficult times.

Urmstongran Thu 09-Jul-20 18:10:08

Me too GrandmaFrench GrannyGravy I won’t get on a ‘plane either, otherwise I could visit family and friends in the UK.

We are the same as you GG13 - but in reverse!
