I was just looking at the pictures of Bea's wedding in the paper. Has anyone else noticed what appear to be nasty sores on the Queen's legs? Or maybe it is the light.

Looks like discolouration to me which bearing in mind her age it isn’t unusual.

EllanVannin Sun 19-Jul-20 11:51:57

If anything, it will be veins which do surface as you get older.
You should see my foot ! It looks as though I've been got-at.

I didn’t notice....I was too busy staring at that wonderful display of roses.

Calendargirl Sun 19-Jul-20 13:15:18

I have often noticed those marks on the Queen’s legs in pictures as she has aged.

I suppose even with the best attention money can buy, 90 year old legs just don’t look like 20 year old legs.

EllanVannin Sun 19-Jul-20 13:25:27

I wouldn't care what my legs looked like if I was fortunate enough to even reach that age.

It was interesting to read that both the dress and the tiara was lent to Beatrice by the Queen, who last wore the tiara on her own wedding day. The dress, the Queen wore at one of her meetings a number of years ago and Beatrice had it specially modelled to fit herself.

No but I noticed how smart and good looking Beatrice's husband is, a proper English gentleman! No wonder she didn't want to miss the chance to marry him!

Probably leg ulcers. My granny had them for years. No treatment (and she had a lot of different treatments) ever health them.

GagaJo Sun 19-Jul-20 13:28:09

Healed!

I thought Beatrice's husband was an Italian Count, not English?

glammanana Sun 19-Jul-20 14:27:14

BlueSky yes he is an Italian Count but they don't rate the such in Italy now just a courtesy name I think.
He is certainly an attractive man and she got herself a new step-son as well lucky girl.

maddyone Sun 19-Jul-20 14:41:56

I thought Beatrice looked lovely in her grannie’s dress, which had been altered to fit and be more suitable as a wedding gown. I’m pleased she managed to get married, I have felt so very sorry for all the couples whose wedding plans were dashed by the Coronavirus.

felice Sun 19-Jul-20 14:54:28

So did I maddyone, she looked radiant, and so nice to wear her Grandmothers dress and tiara, lovely.

BlueBelle Sun 19-Jul-20 15:02:40

Oh my goodness bluesky how twee a proper English gentleman what the heck does that mean Pure white skin, blue eyes a suit, a business and of good English stock ..... you CANNOT tell someone’s character by a photo I m sure her father would fit that bill too ?

felice Sun 19-Jul-20 15:35:18

Bluesky, I wanted to say that but was a bit too chicken. A nice old Etonian perhapshmm

BlueSky Sun 19-Jul-20 15:46:13

Well just what I said a proper English gentleman as in Mills & Boon! Actually his father is Italian and his mother British, I didn't know so I looked him up.

BlueSky Sun 19-Jul-20 15:50:50

Sorry Litteannie your thread was about Her Majesty's legs, I hadn't noticed but now I took another close look and yes they do look discoloured.

BlueBelle Sun 19-Jul-20 15:57:56

Hahaha I still want to know what a ‘proper English gentleman“ is ?? I thought Rees Mogg had that title

Esspee Sun 19-Jul-20 16:00:33

Since I turned 70 the skin on my shins and my forearms bruise at the slightest touch. My mother suffered the same thing particularly on her shins. So much so that I used to threaten to buy her shin guards (football apparel) for her birthday.
If any of you have found a solution for this please, please PM me.

Barmeyoldbat Sun 19-Jul-20 16:01:00

I thought it was lovely that the Queen left the wedding and made Captain Tom a sir. She didn't change outfits either.

AGAA4 Sun 19-Jul-20 16:07:07

The flowers were beautiful at the wedding. The dress was lovely too. I didn't notice the queen's legs but sadly our legs age with the rest of our body.

BlueSky Sun 19-Jul-20 16:41:54

My MIL's legs were often discoloured as if bruised even though she hadn't knocked them. The nurse said skin gets really fragile with age and with some medication.

eazybee Sun 19-Jul-20 16:54:34

Do you suppose all the clothes the Queen has ever worn are stored away somewhere, 'in case they come in useful'? There must be thousands. I often wonder what happened to all the clothes of previous monarchs; Elizabeth 1 was supposed to have left a thousand dresses, and I don't think even a part of one is extant

Calendargirl Sun 19-Jul-20 17:22:03

My goodness, if all the Queen’s clothes are in storage somewhere, they will need quite a few wardrobes eazybee.

geekesse Sun 19-Jul-20 17:26:22

The Queen was limping noticeably when she knighted Tom Moore.
