Good Morning Everyone,
its dry but cloudy here in Brackley this morning .
An easy day today , small shop as Waitrose are open at 730 today.
And then at 1100 I have a eye appointment at opticians as to annual glaucoma , it will be interesting to see how much the face mask plays in it as to wearing during the eye check .
Take Care ,
Mick

Marydoll Wed 29-Jul-20 07:52:28

Urmstongran, they are tiny little safes, where we keep passports etc, easily available to buy on the high street.
We are not millionaires!!! If only.?

Greyduster Wed 29-Jul-20 07:53:08

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. A bit of a grey start in South Yorkshire; not quite what I expected today, but we have to wait in for a courier anyway so nothing spoiling. DD et al are coming for a late evening meal. She has managed to get a hair appointment so we have had to put eating back an hour to accommodate it, but no matter. I will be stitching the dreaded cardigan together today. Never thought it would be finished. I wonder if it will still fit, it’s been so long in the making! Safe journey, Corner. Have a good day folks.

Puzzler61 Wed 29-Jul-20 07:56:31

Good morning Mick and all. It’s a cloudy start but dry and warmer. I hope your glaucoma review goes well Mick. Our eyesight is so important.
My stomach has not been happy for the past 12 hours, I hope it eases as the day goes on. Unfortunately it isn’t due to ? - your afternoon/evening sounded a lot of fun Urmston - unsure what has caused it.
Gillybob good news from you, very pleasing to read yesterday evening, and I hope Mr GB’s operation happens - he has waited too long already.

Marydoll, now the wedding jewellery has been found, please take it easy. R&R is the order of the day ?

For all meeting or looking after families, GC especially, have a wonderful day.
A little heatwave is coming Des the man on TV said in his cheery way ☀️ ?
Look after yourselves today ?

Urmstongran Wed 29-Jul-20 07:59:32

Aw Marydoll you’ve just shattered my impression!
?

Gelisajams Wed 29-Jul-20 08:14:23

Good morning from Shetland where the wind is howling! Hoping it calms down as we sail later!
Packing, cleaning the little Croft, saying goodbye to our friends, a bit of gift shopping and a last walk round Lerwick before we board the boat.
I’m feeling quite apprehensive about returning to England!
Great news for Gilly and so pleased Marydoll has fewer side effects. Take care and stay safe everyone ?

Nannytopsy Wed 29-Jul-20 08:28:05

Good morning Mick and all his followers. I have managed to wake earlier this morning!
There is some cloud about in Suffolk this morning but I think it’s due to improve for the rest of the week. Gardening today - as others said, the rain has brought the weeds on and we are inundated with courgettes. They work successfully in marrow chutney, so I have added other ingredients to the next click and collect.
Only 4 more days to my haircut!
I hope today is kind to everyone.

MellowYellow Wed 29-Jul-20 08:31:43

Quick good morning from a bright south Cornwall as I have a bouncy 3 year old boy about to arrive and I need to do a check for saws, wire, nails and other potentially painful items, and hide them away before he arrives! A good day to all, where possible.

gillybob Wed 29-Jul-20 08:33:14

Good morning from the NE coast where we have a bright start to Wednesday .

I am still a bit up in the air after the whirlwind of yesterday and my DH’s appointments in preparation for his very long awaited operation on Friday . He has been well and truly “gone over” and with the exception of his high BP everything seems okay to go ahead. Waiting for the call on Thursday afternoon to confirm Covid clear and that the operation will go ahead. I am not allowed to go in with him and I don’t think I am allowed to visit either.

On another positive note (blimey 2 positives in one day, that’s not like me) I had a long chat with one of our customers who tells me we will get the order eventually he just needs to dot some i’s and cross a few t’s with the money people before putting pen to paper and giving us the actual order number . So I am crossing my fingers ?that it’s soon .

My best boy 10 year old DGS has been offered a last minute weeks training at a football camp in August . He is desperate to go, so I am trying to raise the £270 he needs . I’ve got a few bits on eBay and my emergency fund then I’m going to my dad and sister with my cap in hand . I’m asking them to sponsor him with the promise that they will be paid back 3 fold when he plays in the premier league grin

I’m so pleased your second treatment is over with Marydoll and you start seeing the benefit very soon . I’m amazed how you stay so positive all the time . So glad you found the weeding jewellery some times you just can’t see for looking grin

Your tapas sounded lovely Urms I am so envy. Enjoy your day at the beach and the lovely sunshine too.

Well that’s me off to “that place” I mopped all the floors on my way out yesterday evening so I hope the lads have wiped their feet on the way in or they will get “the look” . A big shop for my dad on my way home later.

Thinking of our missing friends BlueSapphire, dragonfly and CherryCezzy .

Thank you to everyone who have wished my DH well. Here’s to this time next week !

Hope Wednesday is kind to all of us.

Love Gillybob xx

harrigran Wed 29-Jul-20 08:35:57

Good morning from a bright but still windy NE.
Phone consultation for DH was not the best, he has to go for more tests and scans.
Pleased your DH is going to get his operation gilly, such a long wait.
Tired this morning, did not sleep well, brain in overload.

Newquay Wed 29-Jul-20 08:41:35

Morning all-especially Mellow Yellow. Well, we took the plunge and drove to Cornwall from the Midlands on Staurday-journey was uneventful and the 3 wee breaks were excellent. Everyone keeping their distance, loos all spotless (as usual!). We’re now in our mobile home which hasn’t been occupied since last season, been thoroughly cleaned and aired before our arrival. We had a click and collect supermarket delivery-like at home. We’re visiting pre booked enormous NT properties and big beaches so only mixing with our family bubble-it’s doing us all good especially DGC who have been stuck at home.
Gill Gran-Was talking to DGS last night-why is The Wash called that and why is it the shape it is, do you know?

Grandmafrench Wed 29-Jul-20 08:45:10

Good Morning everyone.

Usual ??? in the South ??

Totally lazy day planned - swimming, reading, stretched out on our steamer chairs. But first need to clean all the air conditioning vents while DH vacuums the pool. A friend has a very handy pool robot to do that job...’Robotcop’ she calls him. Fascinating to watch it scramble up and down the pool walls like magic, doing all the cleaning. Our pool, unfortunately, is an irregular shape with a big shallow area, so it wouldn’t work. In this house sadly, DH has to be Robotcop !

Glad you’re back to mischief, Mary; so pleased that Mr Gillybobs name has finally been pulled out of the NHS Lucky Dip. Very best wishes for a successful outcome. Sorry you’re feeling rough, Puzzler.....with a bad tum, you can feel bad all over. Take it easy and think calm and soothing thoughts in case it’s stress-related? And your head, Urms - feel better soon and maybe stop letting your chums lead you astray?

Stay safe all. Wishing you a safe crossing, Gelisajams and success at the Optician, Mick......only thing that will irritate is how many times the testing equipment steams up because of your ?. So frustrating but what can you do?

Have a happy day, everyone, with stuff to smile about.
Hugs x

Anniebach Wed 29-Jul-20 08:50:11

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Nortsat Wed 29-Jul-20 09:04:18

Good morning Mick and the GM team from sunny east London, where I am being serenaded by drilling, as the pavement is being taken up, again, for who knows what purpose.

I feel groggy this morning as I woke up late. I had a peculiar dream, where I vacuumed the whole garden, with the little handheld vacuum. When I was finished, the garden looked no better, so I started again...
Boy, that must be my unconscious mind trying to tell me something significant...

I was complaining recently on another thread about how many kettles we seem to get through. Our 14 month old Russell Hobbs has begun to switch itself off mid boil. I rang Russell Hobbs customer service for technical advice, to be told that the kettle ought not to be doing that and they will send me a new one.
‘Do you need to see my receipt?’ ... ‘No’
‘Do you need me to post the kettle back to you?’ ... ‘No’
‘We just need your address, to send you the new one ...’

I know that is the level of service which should happen, but it seldom does happen.

Urmston what a lovely way to spend the afternoon, drinks and tapas.
Pant it took me a while to work out who the ‘Bar Stewards’ are, but once the penny dropped, I fully concur. ?
Have a good day all and ? to Bluesapphire, Dragonfly and Cherry and all those who need them. ?

gillgran Wed 29-Jul-20 09:12:45

Newquay, you prompted me to look up, (on google), about "The Wash", Having lived in Norfolk +20+ years, & Cambs., +50+ years, I still have a lot to learn..!! blush.

Nannytopsy, you prompted me to book my first haircut in 5 months, good luck with your appointment. I did as you said the other day, googled hairstyles for fine hair, all the "models" were many years younger, & half my size..!! wink.

Puzzler61 Wed 29-Jul-20 09:25:16

Gelisajams will be thinking of you and your sea crossing back to mainland. Fingers crossed the winds are not too strong to make it choppy. I know my stomach would definitely not cope with a sea crossing today !
Doesn’t time fly - it’s no time since we were all bidding you “happy holiday”.

Froglady Wed 29-Jul-20 09:27:16

Hello to everybody from a sunny Blackburn! Can't believe I have typed those words! Not a lot to do today: I've got British Heart Foundation coming to pick up a couple of pieces of furniture that I no longer need. Might try and tidy up my garden and get some weeds up and into the garden recycling wheelie bin as that will be emptied this Saturday and there's not a lot in it at the moment.
Hope you all have a good day.

BladeAnnie Wed 29-Jul-20 09:38:03

Good morning from a dull mid-Notts - fine atm but looks like it could rain any time. Corned beef hash for tea tonight which I usually make during the day then just pop it in the oven for 20 mins when Mr BA comes out of the office for the day. Other than that a quiet day as my eye is still sore and stingy. I've got an eye wheat bag which I can warm up - find it lovely and soothing. Hope your poorly tummy settles down Puzzler61. May everyone have the best day possible and please stay safe x

Mapleleaf Wed 29-Jul-20 09:44:15

Good morning all,

The sun keeps trying to shine today and it's a tad warmer than yesterday. I believe it's going to gradually improve with a really hot day on Friday (a little too hot for me, but never mind - mustn't grumble ?).

My wash load has just finished so I will peg that out later.

Fingers all crossed for you gilly.

urmstongran that sounds a wonderful way to spend an afternoon!

marydoll so glad you found the missing jewellery, now you can sit back and relax. ? I, too, imagined large his and hers safes! ??

Good luck with the eye test mick. I'm sure they'll have everything worked out regarding your mask wearing.

Enjoy the day, everyone. ? to all feeling sad, under the weather or lonely.

GrannySomerset Wed 29-Jul-20 09:50:30

Just about to do battle with Tesco as need to stock up for visit from DD, SIL and GD1 who are with us from Thursday till Monday. I am so used now to catering for just the two of us that I think I may have forgotten how much five people can eat so will have to take a list for once.

So pleased by the news from Gilly and hoping all goes to plan, and for Marydoll who seems more her usual valiant self.

Spangler Wed 29-Jul-20 09:59:32

grandMattie

Where’s everyone? Pant you usually come at about the same time as me. Chamber pot not available? ?

grandMattie, one of the joys of living off the beaten track is that getting a signal can be frustrating at times, but at least it prevents me from spending too much time in front of my computer. I was up at silly o'clock, the sun is out, it's a glorious day and I have just got back from a five mile cycle ride.
Stay safe.

EllanVannin Wed 29-Jul-20 10:03:28

Good Morning All x.
My giddy aunt, this weather would give you the pip. Today is what it's been for the last 6 weeks or so, cloudy and not so warm. I'm gearing up for Friday----the one hot day that's expected here, then no doubt all downhill until next Spring.

D will possibly pop in today after speaking on the phone yesterday. I've saved her a heap of newspapers for the bottom of the parrot's cage.

My GD went to see Ruby-Lou in Durham/ Darlington last Saturday and got a train direct from Liverpool ( not very frequent ) and arrangements are being made for D and the children to go next month and stay overnight at a Travel-lodge as they want to spend a full day with her. Her family liaison officer from here also travels to see her in between times. How's that for care ?

We can't get over how everyone has been so kind as though the girl belonged to them. It's about 290 miles round trip !
A lovely place I believe with her own en-suite---communal sitting room and dining room, like a home from home in the countryside with only 5 other children in the place and plenty of staff. Our minds are at rest anyway, knowing that she's getting the best of care and so well looked after.

I feel for Marydoll having " one of those days ", it's horrible and I think we've all had them at some time when you end up in a flat spin looking for something. I hope you don't have too many of them x You've had so much on your mind you see.

D-Day getting nearer Gillybob, it's a start and can only bring good results after all this time x

My programme is on now--Murder Mystery and my Family, so will round off by hoping that everyone's okay and staying safe. xx

You two Senorita's, don't be eating and drinking so much today, or you'll go off with a bang.grin
Grandmafrench and menagerie, enjoy your lovely life.

Legs55 Wed 29-Jul-20 10:14:47

Good morning all, mixture of sun, cloud & wind here in Devon. @FrogLady my DM is in Hospital in Blackburn, glad it's a sunny day, maybe I'll get good news later

Legs55 Wed 29-Jul-20 10:25:06

Posted too soonhmm. DM was taken into Hospital on Monday, waiting to hear exactly what the diagnosis is. It's so difficult as I live in Devon, 300 miles away, no Hospital visiting so no point me travelling up there at the moment. I will phone again today & find out if she's now on a ward & hopefully get more news.

Quiet day at home planned, trying to get on top of everything in case I've to suddenly drive up to be there when Mum comes home. Luckily I only have Cat & my neighbour will look after him. Car needs checking & filling with petrol. Fingers crossed she can come home as going into a Nursing Home is one of her fears, she's 91 & very independent smile

Gwenisgreat1 Wed 29-Jul-20 11:06:19

Good Morning all from sunny'ish Harrogate. DD is getting her car titivated so is borrowing ours for a few days. Today will be reasonably relaxing ready for the onslaught of looking after GD tomorrow - a 4 year old whirlwind!
Marydoll, I wouldn't worry about your brain fog - I'm like that all the time!! Think it started as baby brain!

Hope all are well.

CherryCezzy Wed 29-Jul-20 11:07:56

Good morning all from a grey gloomy Gower.

Just popping in to wish Mr gillybob well for his long overdue operation and to say to gillybob that I hope the order number comes in very soon. You've worked so hard for it gillybob, you so deserved a good outcome.
Thank you too for your daily well wishes ❤️

Thank you too Nortsat ❤️

Marydoll, I hope the hacking cough subsides quicky and the treatment works well for you ???

It's lovely to read that so many of you are getting out and about, having breaks away and above all seeing loved ones. Enjoy ☺️

To those, including BlueSapphire and dragonfly, going through difficult times my thoughts are with you ???

Take care and be kind to yourselves everyone ❤️
