Nannytopsy how are your husband's painful legs? Has been any improvement.

I need to have a shower. I was in such a dither when I awoke this morning (blame the baby) and had a mere cat lick. Must do better. Will smarten up. Lovely to have had your company on this bright, sunny day.

Tomorrow, I shall return. Please take good care of yourselves. smile moon

soop Fri 28-Aug-20 16:22:58

Nannyt Sorry that I omitted to say 'has there been and improvement'.

Susan56 Fri 28-Aug-20 16:35:21

Congratulations soop and family.Gorgeous baby, love the name and a good weight.Your granddaughter is what my younger daughter would call a warrior woman?????

baubles Fri 28-Aug-20 16:52:44

Huge congratulations Great Grandma Soop beautiful baby and a great name.

Hellogirl1 Fri 28-Aug-20 17:13:41

Many congratulations Soop, to you and the happy parents. What a weight! I hope that most of the baby clothes aren`t first size?

Nannytopsy Fri 28-Aug-20 18:30:34

Congratulations soop! I have a nephew who is a most handsome and charming Toby! Good name ?
Got Mr T home yesterday. His legs had reacted to an ointment and a lot of the skin had disappeared. (Ouch!) letting all his juices leak out. The dressings were removed, everything washed with saline and new burn type dressings gently applied. They are quite comfortable now - the best for a couple of weeks. All good for the time being.
I have just started the Harry Potter sorting hat birthday cake - wish me luck! I also have a scarecrow to make for tomorrow morning for the village competition.
Enjoy your evenings everyone

Very late in reading the news, many congratulations on the birth of your great grandson soop such a good weight.

NanaandGrampy Sat 29-Aug-20 10:19:59

Just popping in to welcome the new baby Soop ! What a cracker and I love his name too.

Many congratulations to you all !

I am feeling much better , but a little sad as the planned family visit is off as we have had 80+ new cases diagnosed in a chicken processing plant only 5 miles away. As we have been out and about and you have no idea where other people have been we felt it wasn’t sensible to bring family into the mix. But I am a bit fed up with the whole thing now!

We shall be missing another birthday celebration ?!

I am off to drown my sorrows in the West Wing!

Bellanonna Sat 29-Aug-20 10:27:36

Congratulations, somewhat belatedly, soop. A real bouncer, and I love their choice of names. Welcome to the world, Toby!

Synonymous Sat 29-Aug-20 12:12:50

soop Congratulations on the new baby! Such a joy, he is a 'very good weight" and it is so very special to have Great Grandchildren. flowers

Our little adopted family also had their second baby and their little daughter got her wish for a pink baby. Another good weight at 8lb 11ozs ! The first baby 's name started with A and this wee one's name starts with Z so I laughed and said 'so you are making that a completion of the family" to which she replied "Oh yes, I am not doing that again!" I wonder?!?!

wine wine cupcakesunshinesunshineflowersI am so glad to say that we have now got closure on the legal stuff so we can at last get on with our lives. Himself is hoping that the other side feels somewhat as we do. He feels that it was not really enough and is hoping that they feel it was a bit too much as then it will mean that it is about right. I am sure it is as we can manage all that we need to do now. Now the hard work of house alterations starts! We are praying for energy and so very thankful that DD comes to live with us at the beginning of October.
Thank you everyone for all your support through the last few years, if feels like it has been a long drawn out busines but the worst is over!!!

annsixty Sat 29-Aug-20 13:20:39

So pleased for you Synonymous that things are settled.
I hope it means you no longer have things unfinished and always at the back of your mind.
Maybe you can put it behind you and move on.
You can now plan to make things easier for you both and make the house to suit your needs.
It has been a long time coming.

soop congratulations on the new baby, he is much loved already, a very lucky baby.

I have tried once again to find out about my op.
I feel I am hampered by the fact that I should be having it done at a private hospital but paid for by the NHS.
This was not my choice, I was very happy with my local hospital, 10 minutes up the road, when I had my TKR but their lists were closed and I was assured I would be done in 2 months.
What a false promise.
I rang the hospital, they could give me no information and once again told me to ring the Consultant’s secretary.
I told them e once again, she does not like dealing with any other than his private patients.
They told me again that is nonsense, her job is to deal with all his patients.
I rang her again and left another message, once again no call back.
I am going to ring my own surgery on Tuesday to get some clarification, I need to go on the waiting list for my local hospital, I can’t cope with all this.

Enough of me, I hope you all have as good a long weekend as you can.

Charleygirl5 Sat 29-Aug-20 13:30:04

ann it would be better for you if the surgery was carried out at an NHS hospital. A friend of mine had major surgery done on the NHS in a private hospital. After discharge there were problems and the private hospital was not interested because she was NHS and the NHS took the same attitude in reverse.

If necessary threaten to arrive in person and you will not leave until there is a satisfactory answer.

Try that method before you ring your GP surgery- you have time.

You want to be pain free and on your feet by Christmas. Good luck.

soop Sat 29-Aug-20 14:24:42

Greetings from a sun-sparkling day in bonnie Kintyre.

ann Your GP will be the best person to represent you during this wearisome stage. I had waited so long for a hip replacement, I was eventually offered the surgery at Ross Hall private hospital. It was a five star experience. My own bathroom, choice of food from a superb menu and the dishiest surgeon on the planet. Baggs visited me during my stay. I would return (if I had to) with a grin plastered all over my face.

Synonymous Bravo! Now you can move forward and get on with putting your plans into action. You've both been on a long, distressing journey. You deserve to see your dreams come true.

N&G Covid continues to scupper our plans. I feel sad on your behalf. At least I know that our family gathering is well and truly out of the question until next year. With that thought in mind, I'm happy to remain relatively patient.

Hellogirl1 Funny you should mention the size of the baby clothes. We've sent a gift of baby clothes suitable for 3 - 6 months. Lauren suggested that the baby would then have decent cold weather wear. hmm I have a feeling that I should have bought the next sizes up. Mila's clothing will most def not be handed down.

Susan Correct! Our granddaughter is a warrior woman. She was adamant that she wanted to give birth naturally, in spite of Toby not helping one little bit. wink

Nannyt Ouch and buggerations. Dear Mr T will have been beyond relieved to have the raw skin dressed with the utmost care. I'm pleased that he feels more comfortable. Give him a gentle virtual hug from us lot.

Nannytopsy Sat 29-Aug-20 15:19:25

Thank you for the hug * soop*. Good news Synonymous - enjoy designing your alterations!
Today I have made a scarecrow - next year I will have more of an idea and will do better. I have also made the Harry Potter sorting hat birthday cake. ? That has been weighing on my mind as I don’t have much experience with fondant icing. Now I can relax!

Nannytopsy Sat 29-Aug-20 15:22:41

Photos!

annsixty Sat 29-Aug-20 16:08:41

The sorting hat is a triumph.
I just hope the birthday guests don’t want to put it on for it to work it’s magic.

Grandmabatty Sat 29-Aug-20 16:47:19

NannytopsyThe sorting hat cake is an absolute triumph! Well done! Nothing to report here. I have enjoyed pottering all day, both in the house and the garden.

annodomini Sat 29-Aug-20 17:19:16

Nannytopsy that sorting hat cake is absolutely spot on!
ann, I know you have tried everything under the sun to get your hip done. Not sure what to suggest, short of writing to your MP. Nothing ventured....

soop Sat 29-Aug-20 17:23:56

Nannytopsy The sorting hat is a winner. I also like the handsome scarecrow. smile

Leaving you with two of the latest photos. Toby, and one with his big sister, Mila. Happy day.

Enjoy your evening and we'll chat again tomorrow. smile moon

Susan56 Sat 29-Aug-20 18:08:35

soop, gorgeous photos.Mila suddenly looks very grown up.

Synonomous, glad that things are finally working out for you and you can move on with getting things sorted. It will be a massive help having your DD with you.

Ann,I think you will need to go the GP route to find out what is going on if the consultants secretary isn’t returning your calls. When my daughter was getting nowhere with the hospital department when Henry was first ill,her GP was very supportive.I really hope you get a date soon,it’s been far too long?

Love the scarecrow NT and the sorting hat cake is brilliant.Your DGD is going to be so pleased.

We have spent the day cleaning and doing laundry after the family have gone home.Next week is the start of a new phase for our family. Our youngest daughter is starting teacher training, our toddler grandson starts nursery and Matilda is starting full time school. We have looked after Matilda a couple of days a week since she was 1 year old.Feeling a tad emotional that we won’t be seeing as much of her but pleased she is so excited about starting school. We will be looking after B one day a week and from January will be looking after Henry a couple of days a week and doing school pick ups for Matilda on those days so a lot of change.

We have a lot of projects to keep us busy.We had planned a few breaks away but all postponed now due to COVID but I’m sure we will manage a few days out and about.

TOYA

Charleygirl5 Sat 29-Aug-20 18:33:58

soop these are beautiful photos and I so agree, Mila is a young lady now holding her baby brother.

Synonymous please look at the other thread re VAT and disablement and maybe you will get some money off the items you will be buying soon.

NT that cake looks gorgeous and really too good to eat.

Susan I have a feeling that Henry will keep you and Mr.S on your toes now that he is finding his feet.
TOYA

.

Hellogirl1 Sat 29-Aug-20 20:37:47

Beautiful photos Soop, it only seems 5 minutes since Mila was born. Toby is gorgeous!
Synonymous, so glad that things are now working out for you.
Ann, you are not being treated at all fairly. Have youb got a good spokesperson who would go into bat for you?
Susan, life sounds to be getting very interesting for you nowadays.
NT, love that scarecrow!

Doodle Sat 29-Aug-20 20:50:15

synonymous glad you can move on and get your house sorted out.
ann I can feel your frustration with your operation. Your GP should be able to sort something out for you surely.
nannytopsy fabulous cake. Really looks good.
soop I can’t believe little Mila is a big sister now. Toby is lovely.
Sainsbury’s delivery. Must dash TOYA?

Good morning from a sunny Shire, the sounds of birdsong and the aroma of baking sourdough bread.

I made some notes yesterday, so that I remembered 'happenings' in the kitchen and in the Shire.

So firstly congratulations to soop such a wonderful addition to your clan and annesixty I certainly hope you get some help with your quest for THR. Have you tried PALS? The problem with medical secretaries is that they are often pooled and no one in particular seems to know about individuals these days.

Having looked up 'sorting hat' I realised I should have actually known about that. Nice cake btw.

Yesterday I spent in the garden constructing new crop protection during which I was party to a most thrilling aerial spectacle. We had a buzzard calling loudly and initially I thought just the one. However I noticed its partner some way away. It seemed the caller was (successfully) causing mayhem amongst the birds who were harried. The distant buzzard then pounced midflight. An amazing thing and such teamwork. This went on for a couple of hours until a flotilla of crows (I think) harried the buzzard and chased it away. Great to see the 'little man' winning the day. A pile of pigeon feathers found by the compost bins later. We always know when birds of prey are around due to silence in birdsong.

So, planting out the rest of the brassicas later, a little weeding, and preparation of moroccon tagine for dinner.

TOYA, and apologies for anyone I have missed.

Izabella Sun 30-Aug-20 13:26:12

Quite proud of the new anti pigeon crop protection.
