Good Morning Everyone,
Up early partly packed to start my journey up to Harrogate this morning.
Weather wise a clear blue sky here in Brackley this morning , just a tidy up before I go , which is a bus and train situation .
I will be meeting up with GN member and GM regular who lives there , have a chat and coffee before I do my planned break .
Will return to post on Tuesday , so my usual posters you know who are can take over .
Take Care ,
Mick

Good morning from the NE coast where we have a bright but cloudy start . Yesterday’s so called heat wave turned out to be around 19 degrees tops and then it became really windy followed by black skies and torrential rain .

Dropped DH at the hospital at 10.45 but I wasn’t allowed in with him so I shot across the city (and a couple of towns ) to pick little Evie up to bring to mine . DH rang at 12 to say operation planned for 12.30.

I filled the paddley pool up for Evie Buttons and she got about half an hour play before the wind got up and we were forced to abandon our water play and play in the little tent instead which turned out to be good fun anyway .

Had a call from DH at 5pm to say back on ward and operation went well (thank goodness) they were monitoring him until 7pm when they said he might be able to come home .

Dropped little Evie back home at 8pm in her PJ’s and ready for bed and just made it back home when DH called to say he could stay overnight or come home at 9.30pm . I was shattered but needless to say ended up driving another hour to bring DH back home . He had a tiny supper and then went straight to bed . We have to be back at the hospital at 9am on Monday where they will hopefully remove the catheter etc. It will mean a very early start and my right hand man has a days holiday booked in for Monday which leaves me in an awkward position . I might have to ring my other lads and tell them not to come in until lunch time (if at all) which will mean I will have to pay them to stay at home . I’m not sure what else to do. I can’t be in 2 places at once and would need to leave the house to get DH to hospital half an hour before they will be starting work. I could try and get a key over to one of them but there’s the alarms etc. Oh why do things have to be so complicated ?

Anyway more than enough of my ramblings . So glad DH’s operation is finally over. I can’t thank everyone enough for their prayers and good. You are truly wonderful people.

I hope you enjoy your trip to Harrogate Mick and that the weather is kind to you .

Battery about to go so just want to say I’m thinking about our missing friends dragonfly and BlueSapphire as usual and it was so good to see CherryCezzy posting again.

Have a good Saturday everyone. Love Gillybob xx

Morning Mick and All.

Another hot day in prospect in South Bucks.

Have a fab hols Mick in Harrogate. Oldgoat hope you beat the rush to the shower block. No access to facilities would be a nightmare for me. Have you ever tried a She Wee device ?

Going to our first outdoor film tonight at the local Garden Centre. We are taking our own picnic. We will sit in a designated, numbered bubble, and a waiter will take drinks orders - sorted. We are seeing Rocketman.

Good morning all from a very warm North Leicestershire.

Not a lot going on round here today. I will water the garden while dh watches the football but that's it, so a lot of pootling and faffing on the cards.

Sending love to the gillybobs and anyone else who needs it.

Yes Gingster Cornwall is busy! It feels like a normal summer season here. I saw pics of St Ives yesterday (my favourite place out of season) and it was too busy for safe distancing but I see that in Falmouth they've sensibly closed the main street to traffic 11 till 4 so at least you can walk with a bit of space. And the cafes have extended well out onto the wider pavements so that helps with the atmosphere. At least when it's not raining!

Grandmabatty Sat 01-Aug-20 08:31:16

Good morning All. It's fairly cloudy at casa mia in Polmont. mick have a lovely break. pantglas, Urmstongran and grandmafrench I so envy your blue skies and heat, even a wee heat haze. I do know that I wouldn't cope for long in the heat though as my metabolism is wonky and doesn't regulate heat effectively but a girl can dream. Living in Scotland has its plusses, however whenever I'm abroad it's the moment of pulling open the curtains to see almost guaranteed sunshine. Sigh. We had some thunder and lightning last night and a very stormy sky. It wasn't much though. I enjoy a good storm. I'm having a housework day. I have a bit of ironing as well. Then dinner will be a family pizza takeaway at my daughter's minus my son and his partner who are heading to North Wales for a last minute caravan break. I hope everyone has a good Saturday and that MrGillybob is recovering nicely. Take care all.

Good morning from sunny Colchester. Suffering from yesterday's heat, so hydrating in a cool garden this morning. We didn't get the forecast thunderstorm last night so will need to water today.
Already looking forward to an afternoon nap.... maybe we need to embrace the siesta!

Gingster Sat 01-Aug-20 08:09:53

Enjoy your trip to Harrogate Mick.

DS1 and family have now left after a lovely few days with us. The weather was glorious and they spent a lot of time In the sea. We have a week on our own and then more visitors the following week. We love having them but also enjoy the peace when they’ve gone ?.

Is Cornwall as busy as they are reporting Mellowyellow?

My DH and DS2 are lifelong Arsenal supporters * Dannirae*And DS1 is an avid Chelsea man, so the text messages will be flying this afternoon.

We didn’t have a storm last night but could see the lightening flashes out at sea. Lighting up the sky! Spectacular!.

Hope all went well for * Mr Gillybob*. ?.

Have a good day all ?

harrigran Sat 01-Aug-20 08:06:47

Good morning from a sunny NE.
Lovely day yesterday but too windy for the parasol so had to decamp to the covered terrace.
The sky was a horrible colour at 8pm last night and thought we were going to get a massive storm. It actually missed us, just a few lightning flashes, but Yorkshire had some houses struck.
We have a Cote at home order coming today, lobster and frites and french apple tarts. We have also ordered some pork loin which we will cook tomorrow and some pastries for breakfast tomorrow.
I watched neighbours loading their cars and going off on holiday yesterday, I do hope they stay safe but they have never really observed any social distancing despite one of them workng in a care home.

Good morning from a damp Morecambe Bay. It’s getting back to normal here, DH is out running leaving me in bed with a cup of tea and my iPad. I’ve just lost my post as I attempted to add a pic of my garden. It’s thrived while we have been away and there Is definitely more plant than garden and needs cutting back which I will start to tackle later if it dries up. I’ll try again but the pic may appear sideways.
I understand your concerns about your son grandMattie as my DS2 works 12.5 hour shifts in a warehouse. It’s soul destroying.
My DS1 is in Spain, he drove there before things changed. He’s in for a shock when he gets back as he lives in the new lockdown area and will have to quarantine as well on his return. Think he may stay where he is!
Enjoy your trip Mick and here’s hoping for some good news from Gilly
Wishing everyone a good weekend, stay safe and take care ?

Grandmafrench Sat 01-Aug-20 08:02:38

Good Morning everyone - another South of ?? scorcher.

Off early to shop in the hope of avoiding too many other souls. (ha! we can but hope.). Have a lovely time and a change of scene, Mick. Beechnut the pillion ‘thing’ never occurred to me. I never held on until my Son, while we rode along a mountain gorge in Greece, pointed out that I was giving him the creeps....how was he supposed to know I was still there? I held on firmly after that. Hope it was fun, Scentia

Hope Mr Bobs sailed through the op’ and that life can finally start moving forward again. Take it slowly. Is it gillgran’s OH who’s currently having treatment? If so, all the best in such a worrying time. Continue to make progress, Marydoll - however slow - you will get there.

Got my new door, thanks, Grandmabatty. Fitted and I’ve agreed to paint it. Yesterday had a flying visit from our electrician because the courtyard lights wouldn’t switch off! He wore his mask, DH walked behind with cleaning spray! I keep thinking......along with everyone else.......when will it ever end?

Have a good day, especially if you can be outside. 1st August already - we need to snatch back every day we can this year.

Wishing you everything you wish yourselves and PLEASE
stay safe.

Hugs ?????

Urmstongran Sat 01-Aug-20 08:02:33

Sorry - I don’t know what I did there!

Mythbirtthedragon Sat 01-Aug-20 08:02:10

Good morning from Dymchurch, little bit of cloud with blue sky and sun. Very pleasant afternoon on the beach yesterday, breeze was just enough to stop us sweltering. Have to pop out and do some food shopping today, only problem will be getting back as there were queues into the village yesterday.
Hope you have a good day.

Urmstongran Sat 01-Aug-20 08:01:22

Forgot these!

grannysyb Sat 01-Aug-20 07:59:36

Hot night here as well, fan on all night. Going to walk to butcher before it gets too hot. We haven't had the promised thunderstorms, could do with the rain! Hope Mr Gillybob is doing well.

Urmstongran Sat 01-Aug-20 07:59:17

Good morning everyone from Malaga where it’s very warm but (not yet) sunny. Strange. Is it a heat haze over the sea?

1st August. These months are flying by. We’ve been here for five of them already!

I turned the calendar over to see a view of Plockton - my stepfather’s village. Not many of us have our street featured in such a way! He’s hoping to sell his house there this summer. C-19 put everything on hold.

Himself is off to a bar at 1pm with two neighbours to watch the Rangers match. It’s the first one of the Scottish league I am told. Not sure what I will do yet with my empty!
?

Enjoy your holiday in Harrogate Mick. Well done to you for your positivity.

Hoping mr.gillybob had his operation, that all went well and that Saturday is kind to us all. Keep safe everyone that’s the main thing. This virus isn’t going anywhere yet. x

oldgoat Sat 01-Aug-20 07:56:49

Morning all from an overcast Fife caravan site. I've been up since the crack of dawn to beat the rush to the toilet facilities; it's all tightly controlled to allow social distancing with only two people allowed in the whole block at any time, so two people using the showers means no one can use the lavatories.

Today is our big day; we are off to visit the little grandchildren for the first time since February. Feel quite emotional at the thought. Just hope that we can get parked because DD lives at the seaside so we may have a problem.

Have a good day everyone and hope all the poorly Grans will soon feel better.

Enjoy your trip to Harrogate Mick.

MellowYellow Sat 01-Aug-20 07:48:27

Oh boy, that was a hot night here in Cornwall. Cloud over us like a heavy blanket now. Think I may bus it to Penzance today and be hot there instead ha ha. Have a lovely trip Mick. Best of everything to everyone.

Good Morning to everyone from a sunny South East London sunshine

Good morning from another sunny day in Essex by the sea. Yesterday was a scorcher. We spent a few hours with our picnic and books sitting near the beach where there was a light breeze, then retired in doors.
This afternoon is a meet up in the park for a 40th birthday celebration. Plenty of suncream and cold drinks will be the order of the day.
My eldest DGD will be 12 next week and had her party yesterday. A teepee in the garden, all set up ready for her and 4 friends to spend the night, it looked amazing.
Enjoy your break Mick.
Have a lovely day everyone and stay safe xx

Grammaretto Sat 01-Aug-20 07:33:15

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Back to the same old weather but yesterday was perfect.
Have a good time in Harrogate Mick my friend has tried the London train and it was fine, though can't see how running empty trains every half hour is sustainable. We will need to get back on public transport PDQ.
I hope to see DGC today.
Thinking of the Gillybobs
Pinch and a punch to all of you.
