Hi all,
I am traumatised. It was disgusting. I feel sickenvy(not envy). X

*FlyingHandbag*. Keep them coming. I like your quirky posts. I forgot to put the teabag in the pot today so I don’t know what to call the insipid liquid I took a mouthful of. Better pay more attention.
Do you have an extensive handbag collection? I don’t use a handbag because I would lose it. I only buy jackets with big pockets.

Thanks. My mother did something similar this morning. She was making coffee and asked if I wanted a latte, which she then made and put a teabag in as well as the sachet of latte powder!! I do have quite a lot of handbags but I've never lost them. X

annsixty my sister and I had the same scenario with our Mums tax / pensions we had multiple rebates and demands over an eighteen month period.

All very stressful for recently bereaved family members ?

When she left university my daughter got a job with HMRC.

She quit after four weeks?

Good gracious! All these posts being taken off in a thread about the temperature of a cup of tea.

How on earth can that attract such strong words?

I was gardening for a friend a few days ago and she said: I'm slinging this thing out. I grabbed it. Just finished painting it.

MerylStreep Tue 11-Aug-20 13:18:30

Where's my photo gone?

BlueSky Tue 11-Aug-20 13:33:11

Lovely job Meryl!

annsixty Tue 11-Aug-20 13:37:54

How deep is your pond Meryl?

Oh, FlyingHandbag, your escapades, honestly grin. Life at yours is just one catastrophe after another! You need to tone down the excitement a bit. You can probably deal with it at your age (how old did you say you were again?), but we ageing grannies.......

It's taken me a while to figure out what you meant about a pond I kept looking at the pic and thought: I can't see anything that alludes to a pond.
Now I get it ?It's the lifebelt. I have 3 in the garden.
Anything that involves water and boats has always figured very large in my life.
A friend gets them for me. When they are a certain age they are replaced.

Oopsadaisy3 Tue 11-Aug-20 14:41:49

Meryl an excellent paint job, how long did the paint take to dry?

Should every garden have a lifebouy?

I don’t have one at the moment but I feel it would enhance my patio no end.
And at Christmas I could thread holly and Ivy round it.

Back from the hairdressers , all fine, thanks for asking ........

Far easier to think about getting someone in to do it for you.

Sorry to divert attention from all this breaking news but genuine question, would you think it safe to get some decorating done ? Covid wise I mean
I’m keen to do so (weirdly I shall be using an unexpected tax rebate to fund it !)
.

I think it would be ok. They could self distance in the room they're painting, if you make drinks for them leave them at the door, put cups in dishwasher, wash hands. Pay by BACS.

We've had to have a couple of essential jobs done and it worked out fine. I cleaned what they'd had to touch with Dettol afterwards.

Thank you, I've had lots of practice: but I enjoy it.
How long did it take to dry I see what you did there. Very good ????

On a serious note, I do have something exciting ( well not exactly exciting but different. Builders are taking down our chimney. How they are doing it in this heat I do not know. ???

Tweedle24 Tue 11-Aug-20 14:58:05

MawBe Of course you’re are right. I confess to exaggerating but, those two were far more than I would have expected on what, on the surface, seemed a completely harmless post.

annsixty Tue 11-Aug-20 15:01:17

Meryl ?

V3ra Tue 11-Aug-20 15:02:27

I'm waiting for the floor screed in my new downstairs cloakroom to dry out so the laminate flooring can be laid.
It's been six days and the weather's been so humid this is as far as it's got ☹️

Callistemon Tue 11-Aug-20 15:03:41

Keeping watching it V3ra!

Callistemon Tue 11-Aug-20 15:05:11

MerylStreep you're not supposed to light a fire in the grate first.

I thought everyone knew that.

Lisagran Tue 11-Aug-20 15:15:46

You know so much Callistemon. Did one of your relatives tell you about the fire in the grate?

Callistemon Tue 11-Aug-20 15:18:32

No, I'm just a natural genius, Lisagran

My brew is very hot. Is that a goo idea on a hot day?

Older than I care to admit, I prefer to say I'm advanced middle agedgrinX

BlueBelle Tue 11-Aug-20 15:27:14

Blimey is this still going ?

BlueSky Tue 11-Aug-20 15:29:43

Well 'advanced middle aged' could describe any of us Flying! grin

Oopsadaisy3 Tue 11-Aug-20 15:58:03

Meryl don’t tell me you forgot to time the paint drying? another lost opportunity methinks.
I have to say that my first thought was that you had forgotten to put the fire out.

v3ra lovely cloakroom, is it for coats only ? As I notice that there isn’t a loo or anything. Or am I being old fashioned?

As for getting the decorators in, good luck with that, we can’t get any tradesmen in to even give us a quote , let alone start work, when the chap said that he couldn’t start work until November ( back in May) we should have bitten his arm off and now the Plumber is on a 2 Month holiday. Well, lucky him.
