Me neither! grin

It's been nigh on impossible to avoid comments and opinions in the media but I do agree that if Harry and Meghan have not colluded with the authors why aren't they suing the pants off them?

So Harry is said to have a difficult relationship with his father and has criticised him for putting his position before his children so Daddy panders to him and buys the couple a house.

As for the title of the book it is an insult to people such as Nelson Mandela, Nazanin Zaghari-Radcliffe And Terry Waite who really do know what it is like to be deprived of their freedom for years. I have read some of the extracts and Although most of them are laughable I felt for Meghan’s first husband who has never said a word against her yet she (sorry the book) claims they divorced because he resented her new found fame.

Terri they have no dirty linen, they are perfect and victims !

The new house in Santa Barbara is ridiculously opulent for two people who want to tell the world how we can all do better from an ecological point of view hmm and it seems Prince Charles has staked them once again.

I think we are entering a climate where the ordinary person has had enough of the preaching of the privileged few to the struggling masses, I don't just mean them, and that will become more evident once the true scale of this latest global disaster plays out around the world. Just how relevant are any high profile people who make preachy appearances their raison d'etre. These two appear to recycle the same old stuff all the time whilst simultaneously recycling all their pent up grievances. The snippets I've read in The ST portray them as petulant and disloyal with no regard for the shed loads of public money that has been thrown at them. The general consensus amongst reviewers seems to be that it's apparent their collusion with the authors is evident, which begs the question, if it's privacy they crave, why would they wash their dirty linen in such a public way. hmm

jabberwok and anniebach ... I agree!
PC is damned if he supports them and d if he doesnt.
I can just see the headlines now.......

Anniebach Thu 13-Aug-20 11:51:20

Jabber I think their book is a warning shot to the royal family,

Tigerdove Thu 13-Aug-20 11:40:33

I vote for “Finding Nemo” a much better option

Jabberwok Thu 13-Aug-20 11:07:10

I can't believe that P.C has helped to buy this 8 million $? £ ? mansion for these two, when we tax payers are still waiting for our money back from Frogmore?! Either P.C is a complete fool or these two are threatening more horror stories, to the point of bringing the House of Windsor crashing down unless more cash is propelled in their direction?! Perhaps now they're settled in their luxury home, we will hear less of their preaching to us peasants about the error of our peasant lives both past and present. As for the book, We haven't run out of loo paper yet!!!!! Harry a war hero? Don't make me laugh!!! Andrew actually was all those years ago!

maddyone Thu 13-Aug-20 11:04:28

Thanks for the link merlot.
I guessed it was what Meghan wanted, seems my expectations were correct. It’s a lot bigger than Frogmore, probably what they both think they deserve.
It appears Prince Charles paid for it, or much of it. He makes about 20 million a year from the Duchy of Cornwall. I do hope the residents of his estate are happy with the way the money they earn for him has been spent, especially as they sit down at the end of a long day of work in their rented cottages.
The royals maintain their position in the UK by consent, but this grandiose behaviour towards a lazy and self entitled couple will probably not go down well with many. I don’t like it, I believe H+M should have done as they said they would, worked for a living and become financially independent.

harrigran Thu 13-Aug-20 10:46:24

If they sell the book for £1 I might purchase it, we are running low on paper in the outside netty.

Grannynannywanny Thu 13-Aug-20 10:22:20

I would have read the excerpt in the weekend paper. But I was painting my garden fence and when I sat down for a rest with the paper I decided to watch the paint dry instead

wendyann23 Thu 13-Aug-20 10:18:15

Not bothered and can’t see why anyone would pay good money to read such drivel.

cupaffull Thu 13-Aug-20 10:15:22

Not me, canna be bothered tbh.....

Anniebach Thu 13-Aug-20 10:13:02

Surely ‘hitting the ground running’ means - you have landed
face down on the ground .

Their neighbour, Oprah, if they had stayed at Frogmore their
neighbour would have been The Queen, expect Meg thinks she has moved up socially.

Got to hand it to Meghan. If this is the result of 'hitting the ground running,' it hasn't taken her long.

The Terry Wogan version of Janet & John was so funny Merlotgran better than anything H & M can dredge up.

Even the real Janet and John!
And Pat the dog.

The Times had excerpts from it over several days. Most comments asked why they were doing this, mine said why they had published this when it was something I would have expected to see in the Sun!

Kamiso Wed 12-Aug-20 17:29:52

I didn’t have Harry down as a liar so I was wrong there.

It seems Harry was impressed that MM packed sunburn cream and tea tree oil in her suitcase. My first holiday with OH I was 19 and packed all of my makeup and most of my wardrobe. Sadly my OH was not the least bit impressed!

No need to buy it as most of it seems to be in the papers and on the news already. If anyone wants to buy it I am sure it will be in Poundland before too long.

ladymuck Wed 12-Aug-20 17:22:04

They have been stuffed down our throats since they defected. Roll on the day when we will say..."Meghan who"?

Anniebach Wed 12-Aug-20 17:14:52

It will sell well in America

merlotgran Wed 12-Aug-20 16:55:46

Read a few excerpts from the book, think I'll stick with Janet & John.

The Terry Wogan version!

What a shame he's no longer around to add his comments. grin

Bluebellwould

I don’t get the title page, ‘the making of a modern royal family’. They’re not still part of the royal family are they really? Maybe by blood, but not by profession or location. I’m baffled why they still put that.

Well, I think they've helped achieve what most of us wanted, which is a slimmed down monarchy, as they've jumped ship.

Thank you Meghan and Harry. At least you got something right.

ginny Wed 12-Aug-20 15:26:22

I won’t be buy img or reading even if they were giving it away free.
