I don't know about you, but if I feel a bit down in the dumps I put some music on and have a sing (and sometimes a dance).
My karaoke song is either I will Survive or Dancing Queen (tiddly) or Yellow Submarine (sloshed).
What's yours?

For the lyrics and his voice: Mirrorball by Elbow
It says it all about my DH and myself - meeting again after 44 years. www.youtube.com/watch?v=JjlSr2zg9Jo

Queen - everything - loudly www.youtube.com/watch?v=-tJYN-eG1zk

To remind me what I loved to dance to in the 60s.
Marvin - Heard it through the Grapevine

Beautiful lyrics Woodmouse.
Don't know why I've stayed up so late tonight,
Our love story is like another Carpenter's song -
We've only just begun

This was the second time around for both of us and TG we're still together 'after 40 years' +.
Trying to find the guitar riff for this song - it's brilliant -
but seems to be another one that youtube has cancelled sad.

Back in 1984 my flat sparkled on Saturday mornings after I vacuumed to this classic . RIP George.

Kate1949, my husband is very impressed that you have seen the Beatles 5 times! He’s a Beatles fan, but has never seen them. We have seen Tom Jones - about 15 years ago. Wonderful! Nothing beats a live concert. I also love musicals, particularly Phantom, Les Mis, Cats, Miss Saigon (so bittersweet!), Mama Mia & Lion King. Really love the music from Les Mis and I have the CD which I play when I’m feeling the need for a Les Mis fix. The world would be a much duller place without music. It’s life-enhancing.

honeyrose It's my claim to fame! I can (and frequently do) bore for England about my Beatles escapades. I have been on local radio telling my tales a few times. The picture I have with me sitting behind them on stage has been blown up and is by our front door in the hope that someone will ask about it and I can bore some more. grin They rarely do. My daughter frequently says 'mum, not again please!' Actually it may only have been four times.

When my son was a toddler he kept asking to hear "The Get No Song". Months later he heard it on the radio..... it was The Stones singing "I can't get no satisfaction"

Cherry I haven’t met anyone before who has even heard of Pentangle I couldn't quite remember if I had the name right in fact, it’s over 50 years ago since they played ( or started playing).

I only managed to get to see the Beatles once ( I think it was 1963/64) and I couldn't hear a damn thing for all the
screaming which enraged me considerably! It wasn’t a huge venue either. It must have annoyed them a bit too I should think, yes, they wanted fans, but surely wanted the fans to hear them.

How about “l hear you knocking but you can’t come in”?

After I heard that the Cavern club in Liverpool may have to close, I have spent an hour listening to the Beatles.
Also listen to Titanium if I feel a bit frail. Boosts me.
I like most music classical, folk, pop - anything really.

So many but Bruce Springsteen, Dancing In The Dark really gets me motivated. It tells me to shape up, stop being so bloody pathetic and just get on with it - whatever "it" happens to be.

ps yes I did post it before but it needs to be repeated.

Happy by Pharrell Williams always lifts my spirits.
In my Hippy phase I used to listen to Pentangle.

CherryCezzy Tue 18-Aug-20 20:46:45

Pentangle formed in 1967 lemongrove and like many bands have had players come and go, obviously Jansch as he died in 2011, but they do still play occasionally.

You mean you don't listen to them anymore then joannapiano?

Today I've been listening to some 60s classics, well that's what I call them anyway. Yesterday it was 70s classics. Tomorrow, who knows but I'll be singing along.

NotAGran55 Tue 18-Aug-20 21:39:46

One of my favourite TV programs when I was at school was
‘ Take Three Girls ‘ and Pentangle performed the theme tune .
