Good morning from a very wet Southport where we are packing up the camper ready to head home. Need to meet DS3 to see him onto his train so we probably all be like drowned rats.
I know what you mean by the delivery growing arms and legs Marydoll I’ve spent much more on home delivery than I used to do when I went to the supermarket.
Wishing Oopsadaisy a very happy birthday and that everyone stays safe and takes care ?

Good Morning Friday
(73 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
Its cloudy and grey but very windy , looks like Storm Ellen is closing in.
Today , usual early shop ,and then I have a visit from my chiropodist.
Then it will be a quite day in the forecast for the weather is right today.
Take Care
Mick
Well spotted Marydoll that grandMattie has gone AWOL.
I too hope all is okay.
Many happy returns of the day to you Oopsadaisy. x
Good morning Auntyflo and all x
Good Morning Mick and all. Very blustery here on the S Welsh coast. Hoping for a quiet day today, some reading, sending emails, no idea what we will eat later.
Happy Birthday * Oopsadaisy* ?
Have a good day everyone.
Good morning Mick and the GM team from a windy east London. We live on a very wide, very long street and the wind whistles down it, sounding like a horror film from the 1940’s - wooooo, wooooo, woooo...
Happy birthday Oops, have a lovely day ... cake and a takeaway sounds lovely.
We seem to have had a week of not eating at all healthily... takeaways (plural) and wine. My partner says we should just consider it a holiday and start again next week. So I am going to add crisps and some Hagen Dasz to the grocery order. I love crisps and last had some at Easter!
Sending ?to Dragonfly and Bluesapphire and congratulations for all the proud GNs with GCSE results.
Have a good day all. ?
Very windy here as well. Need to go to the allotment to weed the carrots and parsnips. Hope rain holds off. Then go to butchers this afternoon to get something for Sunday as DD and family are coming to lunch. DGS won't be with them as he is going to the Isle of Wight with his girlfriend and family. Once they become teenagers you just don't see them much! Have a good day everyone.
Happy birthday oopsadaisy enjoy your cake and curry. Urmston that's way too hot for a northerner like me! Lots of water needed. Although I miss the Mediterranean blue skies and the warmth. Maybe next year. mellow those must have been good dinosaurs! It's fairly calm here and rather grey so I'm not sure how the weather will go. Yesterday a lovely neighbour came round with cuttings for my newish bed in the front garden. Her and her husband are absolute gems and are my kind of neighbours. Friendly, helpful and warm hearted but not intrusive. I have no plans for today. I might have a baking spree and replenish the tins. Baking bread yesterday has whetted my appetite (sorry) for creating. Or I might paint. I can't decide. I can't do both as if I start painting, I won't stop! I'm disappointed that my local art club has cancelled meetings this year because of the virus. Necessary I know but disappointing. marydoll I shall have to buy shoes! I could do with some autumn/winter shoes. I hope everyone has a good day.
Wishing you a very Happy Birthday Oopsadaisy ??
Good Morning from a sunny, but windy, Cambs`.,
Our DGD1 is off to our plot/site on Norfolk coast today, with a group of her friends for the weekend, camping..!! [fingers crossed].
Happy Birthday Oopsadaisy.
Take Care Folks.
Good morning from a blustery NE where we hqve had overnight rain.
Click and collect from Sainsbury's in an hour, just the usual mundane stuff.
We have duck confit for our lunch today.
Happy birthday oopsadaisy enjoy your day.
Marydoll, been a bit preoccupied. DS2 who bread has always fallen butter side down, has been unwell. He was admitted To hospital as an emergency With dehydration and acute kidney infection. Feeling very fragile for my poor baby (he’s 38 btw). He’s due a scan later this morning. Problem is he’s single, no partner, so we’re next of kin, but not given any info or ability to visit... very hard.
Hope things go well for your boy GrandMattie- I’ve missed you racing me in the mornings ?
Good Morning All x.
Wet and windy best describes today. I'm so glad that I did every scrap of washing yesterday and got it all dry, such a lovely feeling.
Another day of staying put as I don't need any shopping or anything and the weather's not good either.
D rang yesterday----just a 2hr. call
so I'm up to date with all news. The day out to Blackpool last Saturday went well and it was gone 11pm when the children got back, so straight to bed exhausted. Granddad treated them well. He'd have taken them camping to France only for Covid, maybe next year.
D and children are off to Durham again tomorrow for the weekend to see Ruby-Lou, so it's been all systems go with her washing , ironing and packing, shopping in between. I spoke to GGS on the phone too, haven't seen them since March and he asked how I was, aww. He's joining the local Air cadet group next week and is looking forward to it. Hope he sticks with it.
I suppose I could do some ironing---I'm alright once I start.
I laughed at the filling of the chamberpot, Pantglas. Hope the bash's go well as I'm sure they will.
Enjoy your Birthday today too Oopsadaisy
and may of 'em.
I'll miss yet another GGC Birthday next Sunday, the youngest who'll be 4, that's 5 I've missed this year, inc. twins
though I've sent cards and money but it's not the same as seeing them.
Thoughts as usual to our friends who are under par, not difficult to feel like that the way things are x.
Marydoll hope you've now perked up. To all who are struggling a bit x
Stay safe and well xx
grandMattie, sorry to hear your son is unwell.Hope the scan gives good news and good wishes to him for a speedy recovery.?for you.x
Thank you all. He’s on gallons of fluids, strong antibiotics and waiting for the doctor. ?.
Do you have one of those children? The thing I find hardest is that he NEVER fails against his many, many misfortunes - my most precious child
Rails not “fails”... ?
Good Morning everyone. Weather here in S of ?? very hot but some clouds this morning.
Pleased to see Friday Girl, gilly. I could do with a slight mood shift today......from tomorrow we are having to wear our masks everywhere in public, not just in shops. I sincerely hope the opening up for tourists is giving all the resorts the money they so badly need because it’s hardly a success for the residents. We’re now having to go backwards, in my view, just because of huge numbers from all over Europe mixing and moving and mingling with only one thought - holiday! So lots of steamy outings to look forward to for the foreseeable, sadly.
Have the Best Birthday ? Oopsa with enough curry and ? cake to warrant a proper celebration. Enjoy your day!
? many congratulations to all Grannies with relieved GC’s and good exam results. Think the least said about the whole fiasco, the better!
Hope all hatches are battened down, loose pots and buckets are safely out of harm’s way and, to all GMorningers with trampolines in their gardens - please take care in the winds. (If the trampoline you find isn’t yours, maybe don’t start using it until the weather changes again?). Remember, we’re all supposed to be keeping safe!
Today I have ironing.....DH has drawn short straw (and ?) and is currently at the supermarket. He’d better come back with some Magnums!
Have the best day possible, especially those with worries, pain or poor health. Sending hugs ?
Aw,GrandMattie, your poor son. Kidney illness isn't nice at all. Let's hope he feels a tad better once hydrated as it does help.x
Happy birthday Oopsadaisy ! Enjoy your cake. At least you can make your favourite. I didn't have cake at all for mine. Boo hoo.
You must have very good feet Marydoll to be able to wear fashion shoes. I look longingly at shoes in shop windows but know they will kill my poor little tootsies gnarled bunions
Congratulations to all those hardworking DGC receiving the results they deserved.
Grandmafrench, yes it is the holiday makers who have kick-started the virus again. It was inevitable as many carry it and don't know. You can test negative one day and positive the next so how is anyone to know ? Then you have the false positives.
At least the deaths weren't in the millions as with the Spanish 'flu/pandemic.
It's winter here that'll be the test----dreading it.
Oh dear GrandMattie sending get well vibes to your poor DS.
I hope it's not too serious.
Warm wishes to you & your family, GrandMattie,
Oh GrandMattie what a worry. Do hope that, however unwell, he may just have been a bit slow to register how unwell....you know, as chaps often do.....and that now he’ll finally get the treatment he needs for a full recovery. It must be so worrying especially when circumstances mean that you’re dealing with it very much at arm’s length. Wishing so hard that he’s going to feel better very soon. Meanwhile....deep breaths!
Brilliant update for you (and from you) Ellan. When you think what landed on you and your poor family only months ago. I can see that your DD may feel sometimes that she’s running about like a headless chicken with all those plates she’s spinning, but she’s got support now and that’s what counts. Nobody struggling alone! I’m so pleased for you.......but sad about the ironing ?. Take care of yourself. x
I know the feeling with your son grandMattie. I have a D the same where bad luck follows her, yet her sister in Oz is so lucky. We always say that if she fell down the lavvy she'd come up with a rope of pearls.
Thank you all so much for your very kind birthday wishes, I have made extra cake ( thankyou Mary Berry for the Chocolate Fudge Cake recipe) please form an orderly line , elbows in and socially distanced please.
at the end of the table there is fizzy pop or bubbly whichever you prefer to have and there is dancing in the pergola in the garden, it’s windy so that should be fun to watch!
Grandmattie good wishes to your DS our DD2 is plagued by illness , bless her (cancer at a young age) but she never complains and is so cheerful, so I know how you must be feeling.
Come on now plenty of cake with cake forks of course.........
