Good Morning Everyone,
Its a dry start this morning and less windy after yesterdays wind and rain , but its could be a nice day.
Off on my normal bus journeys today , to Bicester first ,and the return to Buckingham.
Earlier in the week whilst in Buckingham there was something I wanted to buy ,and have left the purchase until today .
Usual coffees and something to eat .
Take Care ,
Mick

Just on this morning to see if any news about your son Grandmattie and very pleased to see your better news.

Grandmafrench Sat 22-Aug-20 09:18:55

Good Morning everyone from a hot, blue and windy (hurrah!) Southern France ??. Grass has been cut and pots watered - and it feels a lot less ?.

Proud of myself yesterday - I held it together behind my ‘steam mask’ whilst I visited my Doctor, then hairdresser to make another appointment and then the Pharmacie in all the heat with no breeze.

Doctor confirmed all well with me even though my ridiculous “White Coat Syndrome” ensured that my blood pressure reading was almost off the scale! Sometimes she doesn’t bother to take my BP because I don’t always laugh - the results can be so unnerving. However, I’ve got into the habit of taking 3 readings at home - 3 times a day for 3 days - before I see her. She then puts the figure into my records. At least that way we’re all reassured all is well!

I was not surprised to learn from my visit that there is ‘plenty of Covid’ in the town. Lovely! The cases are mainly amongst tourists and those dealing with tourists in restaurants, shops etc., The better news is that there are no cases in Intensive Care. She thinks that maybe the virus is weaker or we are better informed and early treatment is better. Who knows? But we won’t be out socialising for a good while yet. Our neighbours intend leaving their holiday home here and driving back to Switzerland just in case they should decide to close the border .....again.

Hope that your family bring you some warmth and some positivity today Grammaretto and that Mr G will be greatly cheered by a visit.

Keep posting Karalou and keep sharing - hope you’ve all managed to sort out the gardens after the storm.

Hope you and your Son have really good news today, GrandMattie

Wishing you all a good day, out and about-ing, rummaging in cupboards, keeping fit, walking, creating, just being and doing anything that makes you happy : squeezing everything you can out of life! It’s only what we deserve ?.

Any birthdays I’ve missed? Wishing you every happiness and many Happy Returns..???

Keep safe, everyone
Hugs ???

Good morning Mick, Annie and all.
It is bright with a bit of sun, nice after the rain and wind yesterday.
Felt like I'd been hit with a sledgehammer yesterday, after taking a couple of antibiotics. Luckily it's only a 3 day course.

We should go shopping, but maybe we can manage with what we have.

Best wishes to all who are poorly or feeling under par.
Have a good weekend one and all.

A late good morning Michael and all GNs from a dry, fairly clear South Yorkshire where the wind has dropped a tad, thankfully, but the clouds are still scudding along. I am making some jam today with blackberries we picked earlier in the week. How that will turn out is anyone’s guess, but it will keep me off the streets?! Have a good safe day folks!

gillybob Sat 22-Aug-20 09:36:02

A late good morning from the NE coast where we have a calmer start to a Saturday but more bad weather forecast for later. Well it would be wouldn’t it ? What a complete non-summer this has been . As Marydoll said upthread I have barely worn any summer clothes at all this year .

A warm welcome to the new members of Mick’s lovely Good Morning thread smile

I’ve had a busy week at “that place” this week and a few very early mornings so it was nice to lie in bed with my cuppa this morning .

I too missed the news of your son being in hospital grandMattie I do hope he is well enough to come home today ?

I just loved your last paragraph GrandmaFrench about squeezing everything you can out of life and I so admire your positivity . smile

Thinking as always of our missing friends BlueSapphire and dragonfly and those who are not feeling up to scratch right now .

Have as good a Saturday as possible everyone (my second favourite day of the week) love Gillybob xx

Good morning Mick and the GM team, from sunny east London.

I went out to feed the birds at about 8.00am and managed to drop and break the large glass jar that I keep the bird seed in. Of course it shattered into hundreds of tiny pieces.
While I was clearing it up, the cats came rushing out to see what was happening, as they are terribly inquisitive. I had to chase them away with the garden broom (which surprised them!) for fear they would step in the glass.

Then when I got indoors, I found one of them had been sick, in the utility room. So I had to take up the mat, wash it and the floor... All of this happened before I had had my second cup of coffee!

Grandmattie, I hope your son is making good progress and is able to come home today.
Marydoll that was a win from Tesco, tubs of sweets for the price of pouches.
Mellow “memories of tie-dye and being a hippie chick” ... I love your name and I was/still am a Donovan fan ...

Welcome to new members of the GM team and ? to Bluesapphire and Dragonfly. Have a good day, all ?

Good morning all from a much quieter County Durham. I haven't posted for quite a while but I do still dip into all the "happenings" on this thread. It's wonderful how you have all listened and supported one another through these very strange times.

My DH and I resumed GP childcare 4 weeks ago now so in some respects life has some degree of normality. With NT and EH open we've been able to enjoy some delightful days out with our little ones, the latest being one of our local Roman Forts. GS3 has become obsessed with the Romans during lockdown.

One excellent bit of news is that GD1 can continue her ballet associate programme nearer to home with a different ballet school. The school she had been linked to for the past two years, which involved monthly trips to Edinburgh and has its boarding school in Argyll, is in big trouble. It's all turned out to be rather shocking. My DD paid up front for a summer school too, which obviously never happened. I doubt she will see her money again.

However, it's wonderful that my little ballerina has passed her audition to continue and her lessons are nearer to home.

The past week has been such a busy one that today I look forward to some quiet pottering in the garden to repair Storm Ellen's damage.

Have the best day possible everyone. X

Just lost my post!!! Good morning all!
Lying in the bath having cycled around Bassenthwaite. We are off to Penrith in a bit to do a few jobs and then are planning to visit Pooley Bridge for lunch and to see their new bridge. Storm Desmond washed the old one away. On-line bridge match this evening Have a good day all. Hope your son gets home today Grandmattie.

Morning all.
Next Thursday will be our Diamond Wedding, because of Covid all planned celebrations are cancelled (as are two grandchildrens’ weddings for this year) . Instead our extended family !twelve in number, have arranged to meet tomorrow, coming from far and wide, NW, W, SW, to have a socially distanced picnic for us SE in a local park, as we haven’t seen most of them since Christmas it will be so good although sadly no hugging I have been told?. I am hoping for good weather,at least no rain, we have had amazing weather for months, in fact too hot, in this area and now windy and cooler, will take umbrellas just in case. Don’t know how it will go, or how they’ve planned it.even in ‘normal’ times we rarely manage to have the whole family together , this time only one absentee, he’s in OZ, so a great occasion .

Froglady Sat 22-Aug-20 10:08:20

Odd sort of day in Blackburn - sunny with heavy showers.
We start more serious lockdown rules now and cannot meet up with friends in the open, never mind at our homes.
Going to get fitted with my first hearing aids this afternoon so not sure how that is going to go. Can't really go by car as that will involve too much walking at other end, so just have to hope that the showers hold off while I'm going to town on my electric wheelchair - don't want to get to Specsavers looking like a drowned rat.
Have a good weekend everybody.

MellowYellow Sat 22-Aug-20 10:10:01

Oh Nortsat, I learnt to play guitar from Donovan's songs. Catch The Wind still moves me.

Nannytopsy Sat 22-Aug-20 10:26:52

Morning all! Its been a bit busy here with a visitor, so I have read some of the daily posts but not all. Off to farmers’ market and a plant nursery today.
Hope you all have a good day and I do do wish we could send some good weather to you all up north!

Good morning everyone from a deceptively sunny Glasgow. And it’s gone again.? Just a quick taster to remind us of what we are missing. I even bought two pairs of shorts this year looking forward to giving my legs an airing when I work around the garden.

I have been dyeing all sorts for years MellowYellow. Thankfully gone are the days of an enamel bucket of boiling water, a mountain of salt and constant stirring to mix the dye evenly through. Now it’s a pod in the washing machine which I did this year to change garden cushions colour to Raspberry. ?Lots of fun too showing GD’s how to tie dye their white T-shirts. Mellow Yellow was one of our favourite school run songs, DDs would sing, quite rightly, on cue. ?

IF it should stay dry today DD1 and the girls will be visiting, failing that, it will be a FaceTime catch up as we hear how their first week back at school was.

Hope everyone has a good Saturday and those of you with worries will hopefully have a better day.

Good Morning All x
Cloudy and grey again though not too cold, 17 degrees at the moment, miserable though. No summer clothes for me either.
We haven't had the severe winds here that everyone else has had but certainly our fair share of rain.

D and children are on their way to Durham as we speak, another couple of hours or so until they're there. They'll be staying at a travel-lodge in Chester-le-street this time until tomorrow. Trouble is, D will be carting the luggage trolley around until 2pm when they sign in, unless there'll be a place nearby to sit and grab a bite to eat while they wait.

I've been trawling through the Aldi diffusers online and a particular one, No 1 which I'm after has really increased in price since last year, the cheapest was £9.20. I don't remember paying that. Admittedly, the smell lasts for ages and it's beautiful.

First thing I must do before anything else is read the electric meter as I'm not paying another estimated bill, £175 last bill and now £130----I hardly use it ! Cooking is the most that's used as TV, comp. and lights are neither here nor there price-wise.

A quick whizz around the local shops, more peanuts for the squirrel who sits, arms folded, looking at me through the patio door grin an impatient look on its face.

Took some nice steak mince out of the freezer earlier to thaw and make a pie tomorrow for my dinner, new pots and carrots. It'll do me for Monday as well. Make a nice change from roasts. Mincemeat tart with the left-over pastry. Lovely grub smile

Hope DS is feeling a bit better GrandMattie, along with those who've felt under the weather of late. x
GrandmaFrench I was another with " white coat syndrome " and issued with tablets I didn't need which would have done more harm than good. It's an inner anxiety that's uncontrollable at certain times but eventually settles. Just the way we're made grin

Thoughts to our poorly absent friends x

Enjoy the sunny skies where you have them.

Take care everyone and stay safe and well .xx

I am hoping for good weather,at least no rain
Megs Great News! Congratulations. Unlike birthdays, you only get one of them, so make the most of it! grin.
I'll shout you all a virtual toast on Thursday with a drop of best Aussie Shiraz, as will, no doubt, your Aussie Rellie.
Although, if he/she is in NSW, hot soup will be very popular; weather warnings this weekend of blizzards , avalanches etc in the Blue Mountains to the west of Sydney! We're almost as bad! sad
Anyway, as they say, "Diamonds are Forever!"
Good Health wine wine wine It's OK; 7.40pm! grin

Urmstongran Sat 22-Aug-20 10:59:34

what’s the virtual toast for next Thursday
Urmstongran I take it you mean what's going to be in my glass? You're an expert! What do you suggest that could beat Aussie Shiraz?
Not cheap Spanish sherry, that's for sure. grin

Good morning all from very mixed weather in Harrogate. Well, yesterday I had my GD yesterday and had a massive clear up after she'd left. She decided to get all my scarves out to dress the dog in them. Dog wasn't too happy with it.
Grandmattie, hope your son is soon home and feeling better.

Hope all are well

CherryCezzy Sat 22-Aug-20 11:41:02

Good morning everyone from a windy Gower where there's blue sky rationing going on.

Meant to have friends coming for tea later but we'll be blown about a bit in the garden.

I hope your DS is able to come home today grandMattie ?.

It'll be a tonic for you both if your DS and your DD able to make the visit today Grammaretto, I hope you see them both.

Enjoy your ? wedding anniversary family gathering Megs ??

Donovan's Little Tin Soldier used to bring a year to my eye MellowYellow ?, soft b....r that I am. I think I'm still a hippie but without all the "trimmings" ?

Have a lovely Saturday folks and be kind to yourselves ❤️

Thanks for the welcome. I've been on GN for a few weeks now but this is the first time I've posted on one of the "Good morning" threads. What a lovely, kind, caring group of friends it is. I hope to join in more now that I've discovered it.

Megs36 Sat 22-Aug-20 19:39:32

Thank for your wishes, I’ll let you know how the pre anniversary meeting goes ?
