What is your most hated chore?

My most hated is washing up.
The dishwasher has just packed up, and I can’t get to John Lewis quickly enough!
Yet I have read about people who have a dishwasher and don’t use it! Madness!
The thought of all that yucky washing up after cooking the evening meal really makes my heart sink.
First World problems and all that, but none of us is perfect.

I hate all of it ... and my hatred has grown larger over the years.
I am currently still shielding but as soon as it’s safe, I will have a cleaner back.

Curlywhirly Tue 25-Aug-20 22:51:10

Ooh, Maggiemaybe thanks for that, will definitely try some!

I hate cleaning the oven so I don't bother.

We're still alive.

MissAdventure Tue 25-Aug-20 23:02:44

When I put my oven on, people often think I'm doing a lamb roast.
I haven't the heart to tell them the last one I did was in 1998.

I hate cleaning windows, I have tried every product, including vinegar but I just can’t stop getting smeary marks on the window no matter how hard I try to get them shiny and smear free,

Chewbacca Tue 25-Aug-20 23:08:16

grin

Maggiemaybe Tue 25-Aug-20 23:10:33

Try using the vinegar in water then drying them with scrunched up newspaper instead of using a chamois, Lilypops.

Chewbacca Tue 25-Aug-20 23:11:05

I'm quite fond of wiping over anything stainless steel with a quick squirt of WD40; the results are spectacular for absolutely no effort at all and visitors to the kitchen and bathroom think I've been busy polishing all day. As if.

Maggiemaybe Tue 25-Aug-20 23:15:19

I like to impress my visitors with a quick squirt of furniture polish on one small table only, Chewbacca. It’s the smell what does it. grin

I’ll be digging that WD40 out as well now next time (if ever again) we have visitors.

Chewbacca Tue 25-Aug-20 23:20:29

Steady on Maggiemaybe, don't go getting giddy! One thing at a time! grin

Ironing. Ironing. Ironing.

Yes, tried that it it made no difference. Consequently I hate cleaning windows. The window cleaner does the outside which always shows up the inside as being smeary and covered in spots of what must be spider poo. ?

Hate cleaning the oven.

I don’t like housework. I graduated from The School of How Not to Do Housework, and everything I learnt there has been enormously useful. I learnt how to train my husband to do absolutely anything, and in the music class I learnt the song I’m Busy Doing Nothing, Working the Whole Day Through.

Surprisingly, my house is very clean, because I hate grubby with a passion.

I do like washing and ironing though, and baking, and eating the results.

Callistemon Tue 25-Aug-20 23:43:16

I hate ironing too.

Cherrytree59 Tue 25-Aug-20 23:45:51

Ironing don't do it.
Once a month send out duvet sets and anything that 'needs' creases removing to our local ironing service.

Windows!!
on occasion (before covid) got our 2 local window cleaning lads to clean the inside windows as well as outside.
They also clean the inside windows on the conservatory every other visit.

Mamardoit Wed 26-Aug-20 00:09:48

Mine is cleaning windows. I do do it occasionally.

The other is ironing. I do the minimum and that never includes bedding. I may have ironed pram and cot sheets for my first born.

Hate is such a strong word, I can't say I actually hate any of the chores.

Scentia Wed 26-Aug-20 06:20:12

I love cleaning but my most hated chore, mire so now I have to wear a ruddy mask is ‘The Food Shop’. Absolutely detest it even hate doing it online (when that was a thing for people like me!) hate packing it away too. Don’t mind eating it though?

sodapop Wed 26-Aug-20 07:41:58

Cleaning the bathroom then horror of horrors my husband has the brass neck to use it straight afterwards. grin

DanniRae Wed 26-Aug-20 07:56:21

My oven door stopped closing properly so before we got someone in to sort it out Mr R cleaned the oven. Result we didn't need anyone in because now the oven was clean the door closed perfectly blush Well I hate cleaning it.
I also hate washing floors but don't mind vacuuming.
Mr R does his own ironing - I only have to do mine every month or so.
Yes, it's official ........... I am a lazy so and so grin

ginny Wed 26-Aug-20 07:56:35

Any chore is a chore.
Sadly , they have to be done.

Ealdemodor Wed 26-Aug-20 08:01:54

Phoenix,
Our daughter works for John Lewis (although we are not entitled to discount!) so there is a loyalty there. Plus, JL is local.
Also, I do fear that online retailers have done a heck of a lot of damage to the High Street.

Notinthemanual Wed 26-Aug-20 08:04:41

curlywhirly I use HG foam spray mould remover (not suggesting your tiles are mouldy) and a scrubbing brush rather than a toothbrush. The spray is excellent and I find the brush much quicker.
Anything to speed up doing the chores.

eazybee Wed 26-Aug-20 08:28:27

Housework.
I am definitely of the Joan Rivers school of thought: 'I do the housework thoroughly and three month later it needs doing again.'

Humbertbear Wed 26-Aug-20 08:46:31

Housework. I hate it all. As soon as it’s done, it needs doing again. I don’t mind ironing but I hate cleaning. I would cook all day long if I had a second, and probably third, freezer.
