What is your most hated chore?

My most hated is washing up.
The dishwasher has just packed up, and I can’t get to John Lewis quickly enough!
Yet I have read about people who have a dishwasher and don’t use it! Madness!
The thought of all that yucky washing up after cooking the evening meal really makes my heart sink.
First World problems and all that, but none of us is perfect.

I also was destined for better things and cleaning anything was not one of them.

In normal times I have a cleaner.

Putting food shopping away.
Gave up ironing years ago unless desperately needs ironing. Who irons bedding, just be clever with drying it then it doesn’t need it.

As a P.S My one passion is keeping the toilet sparkling clean, that is my domain my one passion is keeping the toilet sparkling clean, that is my domain ?

As long as my sinks and toilets are clean I’m good. Can live with most other things not done. I buy clothes that don’t need ironing.

I like many others,,on this thread absolutely detest and abhor any sort of housework! I was born to have servants...... I don’t know what went wrong!!!? My sons girlfriend lives with us and I occasionally slip her £20 to do a clean through for me,before anybody jumps on me to say that’s not enough she does live here at a very cheap rent and the poor girl actually enjoys cleaning..?

Cleaning the oven.....so I don’t, and haven’t done for the last six years. An oven cleaning company send someone out to do it .....worth every penny. They do the grillpan and all the shelves too, leave it looking like a showroom new oven.

If you don't mind me asking - how much. When I look online it usually says 'call us to get a quote'

Cherrytree and Mamadroit Have you tried Sealfix Non-Smear Glass Cleaner. It's brilliant stuff. You can buy a big 1ltr spray bottle online for about £1.20. We have a LOT of big doors and windows and it really makes them sparkle and stay clean for longer. Great for mirrors and shower screens and UPVC frames too.

Maggiemaybe what is an HG grout cleaner?

Kim19 Wed 26-Aug-20 09:54:16

Loathe every single bit of it. Only indulge when something gets on my nerves or someone is calling (currently saved!!). My lovely Mum was so embarrassed by my lack of indulgence in this area that she pleaded 'At least keep it tidy. That gives the impression of being clean'. This I do in her memory with the odd wink and nod heavenwards. Think she has a point, actually.

henetha Wed 26-Aug-20 09:53:02

I hate all housework. I always did, to be honest, but these days it's because my back hates it. I wish I could afford a cleaner.

jaylucy Wed 26-Aug-20 09:52:45

Ironing. I avoid it at all costs.
Thankfully my washing machine has a big drum and if not overloaded, the clothes come out fairly smooth. I always air dry and then the clothes are hung up or rolled and put away. Not many, if any creases.
About the only things I always iron are my cotton pillowcases !
My mum used to iron everything - including socks and towels - no way am I going to be doing that!

CrazyGrandma2 Wed 26-Aug-20 09:52:29

Cleaning the hob, so I delegated to DH in exchange for me doing the washing and ironing. Win:win smile

lemongrove Wed 26-Aug-20 09:50:52

I love polishing blush also folding up clean towels and baking.
I don’t mind washing the floors, cooking, cleaning the bathroom, seeing to all laundry.
I dislike ironing and cleaning windows.
I hate cleaning the oven ( so pay to have it cleaned)
DH does the vacuuming.

timetogo2016 Wed 26-Aug-20 09:47:59

I don`t iron bedding anymore, don`t see the point, only me and dh see it.
Hate cleaning cookers and fridges,so thats dh`s job.

netflixfan Wed 26-Aug-20 09:38:01

Thats made me depressed as it’s made me realise I hate all housework too! And now I’m retired my husband, who is still working at home, has absolved himself a of all responsibility. Arrghh!

Aepgirl Wed 26-Aug-20 09:35:12

I’m envious of you Maggiemaybe.,I would rather do anything than housework, although I do it and my house usually looks OK. I have a really good friend whose conversations always get back to housework and cleaning - but she has a cleaner, and a son and daughter who keep her garden tidy.,I do have to remind her sometimes of how fortunate she is.

Happysexagenarian Wed 26-Aug-20 09:32:01

COOKING.
Deciding what to eat, all the preparation, the cooking processes - and then it's eaten in five minutes!
An utter waste of my time, there are far more interesting things I'd rather do.
Fortunately DH does all the cooking in our house and quite enjoys it. I'm sure if left on my own I'd live on sandwiches and raw foods.
Having said all that I do like decorating (bought) cakes.

GrammaH Wed 26-Aug-20 09:29:30

Ironing, I just hate it with a passion even though I do very little. I just can't understand people who enjoy it & do piles of it including socks & pants & duvet covers in front of afternoon tv! What sort of fun is that?! I also don't like washing the kitchen floor as I know full well DH will soon be trampling all over it in his wellies cos he can't be bothered to take them off as he "only wants a biscuit" or whatever!!
I'm another fan of AO - they are quick, extremely reliable & well priced. Have had to replace 4 major electrical items in the last 18m & have used them each time. JL may be great but they're certainly not the only option!

TwiceAsNice Wed 26-Aug-20 09:29:09

Don’t know where the c came from!

TwiceAsNice Wed 26-Aug-20 09:28:43

Don’t like doing bathrooms or ovens. Have had an oven cleaning man in the past but not had anyone in since Covid.

Not fussed about mopping floors either but I do it.

Love ironing and don’t mind baking but ordinary cooking is boring and it just gets done so family can eat. I do meals as simple as possible when I eat by myself c

grannysyb Wed 26-Aug-20 09:25:30

Window cleaning, hate it! Couldn't live without a dishwasher, a neighbour who was having his kitchen redone said that they wouldn't be having a dishwasher as liked washing up! I looked at him and said "even at Christmas?" I got my lovely cleaner back as soon as it was allowed, she is on holiday at the moment, so have to do it myself!?

Pippet Wed 26-Aug-20 09:20:32

Cleaning the kitchen floor to a high standard when no one bothers to take off out door shoes first. Wish I could find a good mop or swiffer with washable pads etc but I seem to bend or break them all ?

Shortlegs Wed 26-Aug-20 09:19:17

Cutting my toenails.

mbody Wed 26-Aug-20 09:18:59

Ironing without a doubt. Mind you all other chores come a close second!!!! When I win the lottery I shall employ an army of cleaners.

Shropshirelass Wed 26-Aug-20 09:18:30

Putting away shopping because I should have sorted out the fridge before I went! Cleaning plugholes and toilets. Everything else is OK.
