I’d never discourage anyone from reading but reading on a tablet and reading a book are not the same experience. With a book you have so much more than words on a page. You have the paper, the font, the manner in which the book is laid out, the feel, maybe illustrations, too.
My psychologist son has told me that we are less likely to retain what we read on a screen v in a book. We have more of a tendency to skim-read on a screen. I read both real and ebooks and from my personal experience, I’d say that I do retain more of a book when it’s a physical presence in my hand than on a screen.
