Good Morning Everyone,
Its grey but its dry outside here at the moment in Brackley .
Yesterday , the dealer I normally see did not show again at the flea market .
With things as o bus services returning to some normality on some services , with schools starting up as well.
The coming week will be interesting not only with trips out, but also watching the Tour De France unfold as no day is the same on that race or other cycle stage races .
So small shop later , TV ,and Lunch then settle down to watch the racing on Eurosport , I get the impression due to coronavirus the British commentary is coming from a studio in London and not on the race due to the quarantine rules effecting commentary team members when the event is over.
Take Care ,
Mick

Good morning everyone from a dull, grey Essex by the sea. I think Autumn has arrived in very quick time.
No plans today apart from roast beef and Yorkshire pudding. DH will watch the GP highlights later and there is a new series of Cormaran Strike on tonight. The first new series for a long time.
Have the best Sunday you can and stay safe xx

Good morning All. It's dry, calm and cloudy here in Polmont. I'm out for a family breakfast soon. I'm looking forward to it and seeing ds and his partner as well as the usual suspects. I roasted a chicken yesterday, stripped the carcass and made stock so I'll make soup later. I might bake as there's not much in the tins. Apart from that, nothing else is planned. I had a very poor sleep last night, awake every hour. Marydoll mum used to make bramble jelly every year. Our September was always picking the fruit from hedgerows. I agree, it's a footer. I hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning from the NE coast where we have another grey and cold day. Yesterday reached the dizzy heights of around 11 degrees and today is forecast the same . More like October than August .

I did a little food shopping yesterday and ended up wandering into an outdoor shop outlet where I bought myself a much needed winter jacket . It was quite expensive (for me) and I have worried about it all night . It’s sat in the bag staring at me right now and I’m wondering if I shouldn’t take it back or pull the tag off and be done with it . I really do begrudge spending money on myself .

Had a long chat with my son on the phone last night who is home alone with my grandson this weekend . They’d been to football and were having a takeaway pizza for supper as the “girls” are all at a horsey thing somewhere down country . My grandson thinks it’s great when it’s just him and dad doing “men’s stuff” grin

DH and I watched a couple of episodes of “Better call Saul“ and we had an Indian takeaway which was delicious . smile

Still thinking about our missing friends dragonfly , BlueSapphire and Bellasnana and also those feeling poorly or under the weather too.

I hope everyone has the best Sunday possible .

Love Gillybob xx

Good morning from Durham, where it’s grey, cool but dry. Going to help a friend move some pots and tubs to her new house this morning. Official move is Tuesday, but house is VP. Not sure what to expect, as she’s living with her ex-2nd husband for 5 years, with the house on the market. End of an era, as the house remained hers as a settlement from her 1st marriage. Her 2AS live near, but not supporting as they say she gave away their inheritance when she re-married. They didn’t like him, nor he them.
Water under the bridge now?

DD2 calling this afternoon. Hopefully we can get out for coffee and cake somewhere!
She was 37 on Friday - can’t believe it! Tempus fugit as the saying goes.

Have a good day everyone. X

GrannySomerset Sun 30-Aug-20 08:57:45

Cloudless sky in North Somerset but a distinctly autumn feel in the air. We are going to church for the first time since March - well, I am. DH has to to isolate till his cataract op on Tuesday so he won’t be coming. I’m still excited though. Otherwise no plans for the day though something house or garden related will undoubtedly make its presence felt. Hope we all have a drama free day.

Gelisajams Sun 30-Aug-20 09:00:30

Get that tag off Gillybob it’s high time you treated yourself!?

EllanVannin Sun 30-Aug-20 09:05:53

Good Morning All x
Lovely and sunny, but it's not so warm. I had the heating on again last night for a couple of hours too. Not good enough for August.

I got to see Ruby-Lou yesterday for an hour----and she was full of a cold ! Ah well, it really is the chance you take and it was lovely seeing her after all this time, 5 months I think. She's gone so tall, I couldn't believe it. I'm not small but my GGC are going to tower over me.

D is back at work on Tuesday since April and I'm going to have to help her work around the children at some point after school just for an hour a day. We'll see what happens. Life isn't so straight forward at times . Good job I'm able.

Will get organised with the braised beef shortly and that can do slowly for a few hours. I'll grab a couple of bay leaves from the garden to throw in for good measure.

I did a bit of washing yesterday and as I was getting it in at about teatime I felt a few spots of rain and looked over at the neighbour's lines of washing, so gathered all that in too. I've still got it here all folded as it appeared that she was out most of yesterday. I couldn't have rested if I'd left it out although the rain didn't amount to much.
I draw the line at ironing it too grin

In my head I want to really blitz the place, with paperwork mounting up again shock I'll do it one of these days-----and seal up the letterbox grin

Well I hope everyone's okay and planning to enjoy this last bank holiday if you have decent weather. Make the most of it but stay safe. xx Thoughts to our " absent " friends flowers

Good morning Mick and all from a sunny S Hants, it’s chilly though, all the trees are turning, Autumn has zoomed in. Friends for BBQ this afternoon, I know they won’t stay really late as they have dogs they don’t like to leave too long. Might get the grass cut if the dew dries off early enough. Quiet evening planned, new Strike starting on TV, we’ve read all the books, so looking forward to that before a Monday when DH will be working and I have new glasses to collect. Doesn’t feel like a BH weekend at all.
Have a lovely day everyone.

grandMattie Sun 30-Aug-20 09:33:44

Georgegran, I have a lovely story about "Tempus fugit".
In W H Smith, a man was buying a fountain pen (remember those?) and was trying out various models. He wrote "Tempus Fugit" many times, with different pens, then decided on one. At the till, the cashier said "I hope you enjoy using your pen, Mr. Fugit"! grin

grandMattie Sun 30-Aug-20 09:35:10

Ellan I know what you mean about height. I am 5'10" tall, hardly a dwarf - but, and hardly anyone believes this - I am the short, fat one in the family!!!

Nortsat Sun 30-Aug-20 09:35:55

Good morning Mick and the GM team from a currently sunny east London.

Gillybob, I am with Gelisajams here, get that tag off and keep the jacket.
Ellan you are a good neighbour ... but surely you should iron the washing too! (?). You can move next door to us, whenever you’re ready.
How nice you saw RL.

I have still got my 48 hour ECG monitor taped to my chest. I was in bed reading GN and drinking coffee and was engrossed in an interesting and lengthy post on another thread. I missed my mouth completely and slopped my coffee down my front. Then I had to scramble for tissues, before the liquid could seep into the ECG electrodes.
All is well, the monitor is still working.

Slow cooked beef for us today and a bottle of Malbec.

Have a pleasant and restful Sunday, all, good thoughts to our missing posters and those who are facing challenges. ?

monk08 Sun 30-Aug-20 09:43:23

Morning from sunny black country. Gilly take the tags off you deserve it plus you dont have time to take it back with your busy schedule.

grannysyb Sun 30-Aug-20 09:46:38

Quite bright here, ( at the moment, ) going to do some gardening, DH is doing his first online bridge session at 10, he thinks that he has forgotten an awful lot! Might do a bit of sewing this afternoon. Gillybob, take the tag off and wear the jacket, you deserve a treat after going through so much stress.

EllanVannin Sun 30-Aug-20 10:04:05

Nortsat, quite some time ago I had a 7 day ECG attached and religiously noted everything I was doing day to day that by the time I'd finished it read like a novella.

About a month later as requested, I returned to the surgery for results etc and was seen by a young, possibly junior doctor who couldn't understand head nor tail of the graph from the machine so marched to his colleague next door and was gone for all of 10 minutes.

When he arrived back, the colleague couldn't help either so asked if I would go to the walk-in centre to have one fitted again----I said a firm no. He proceeded to write a prescription for BP tablets which I told him I didn't need as I said the reason for my sudden increase in BP was the angst I was feeling because of his sheer incompetence. He was obviously a trainee !

What a farce ! Which is why I only visit the surgery once in a blue moon. The last time I spoke to a GP was nearly 3 years ago after I'd had a TIA and a female GP wasn't much help. The only reason I've stayed with the surgery is the convenience for my INR's every 6/8 weeks. Other than that, God help me grin

There was a time when I would have got stuck in to ironing the neighbours stuff as well if I'd been doing my own. Once the iron was out there was no stopping me as it was nothing to stand for 3 hours doing it. Somehow, it now gets me in the small of my back if I stand for too long.

Good morning from Angus where the sun is shining amongst the fifty shades of grey. I'm scared to breath or blink in case I miss it! A busy time later today as DD, her New Man and their five teens are coming over. I'm hoping they don't bring the dog, an unmanageable red setter! She has three objectives while here - dig up the garden, find ways out of the garden and bark as much and as loudly as possible! No great effort for our tea as DD advises that pizzas are the best option from the local pizzaria. (DGDs say they're the very best). So all I've got to do is put out salads, and I've made an enormous chocolate meringue pudding and have in lots of ice cream. Sorted! We'll have a walk on the beach before tea, and by the time they leave I shall no doubt be very happily exhausted! I have found us a 'new' hall (temporary) for our tai chi classes so tomorrow morning I'll be going down to see how many people we can safely have in it per class. If it's fewer than 13 then I will have to work out a fortnightly rota of classes (normally in pre-Covid days it was 20-24 per class with two classes in a morning) which will be a nightmare! So fingers and toes crossed. I have read all your posts and all your fun 'goings on' but have now run out of time to comment. So have a lovely, autumnal day everyone, and keep warm and safe and well. ???

Stilllearning Sun 30-Aug-20 10:15:24

Morning from S Lanarkshire, definitely autumnal. Really enjoyed your Mr Fugit tale grandMattie!
Quiet day ahead, online church at 10.30 and then soup making to take into my wee grandchildren tomorrow for after school. I wonder what exciting things have happened this week, last Monday DGS told me there had been a unicorn on the school roof.

Kalu Sun 30-Aug-20 10:34:40

Good morning all from a bright grey Glasgow. I am forever getting the days mixed up but thanks to Mick opening up each day, let’s me double check. ?

Pleased to hear you got to see Ruby-Lou EV. A lovely treat for you both after such a long time.

We chat to DD2 and SiL in Australia on WhatsApp throughout the week and knew she had suffered a gastric upset for a few days which has been followed with a heavy cold. My imagination had her at deaths door, typical Mother! A long FaceTime chat yesterday put my mind at rest as I had to see her and confirm it was just a cold. Her lovely (Oz Mummy), MiL then FaceTimed me with reassurance that she was popping in to check on DD and all was well and she knew I would be worried.

DD1 and the girls are visiting at some point today. They are like a breath of fresh air blowing in with their non stop chat.?

Have a good Sunday? everyone with best wishes for those who have worries and struggling.

Kalu Sun 30-Aug-20 10:47:11

Hope the tag is off that jacket gilly. You’re worth it.

I love the idea your DGS has a unicorn on the school roof Stilllearning. Obviously a unicorn with wings who flew on to the roof. ?

CherryCezzy Sun 30-Aug-20 10:48:32

A good late morning to you all. It's glorious in Gower today, not a cloud in the sky.

[Blush] this morning Marydoll, I put my tablet down, came back 20 minutes later. You must have thought I was awfully rude ☹️.

Another blush. I haven't read any posts this morning, dratted seizures have done for me again, grrh!
I hope everyone is alright and each of you have a lovely Sunday.

Still thinking of our absentees, sending each of you ☀️

Stay safe everyone ❤️

Mapleleaf Sun 30-Aug-20 11:18:45

Morning all,

A much better day weather wise than yesterday, with sunshine, a gentler breeze and slightly warmer.

A pottering kind of day today - see how it unfolds. We should have been away this week and next but not to worry. Our plan is to go out for days, though where is anyone’s guess at the moment.

Hope you all have a good day. I will go back and read through all the posts properly now, have only done a quick scan as I wanted to post before lunchtime! ?

Take care.

Gwenisgreat1 Sun 30-Aug-20 11:19:24

Good Morning all from a dreich Harrogate - hoping it will brighten and warm up!! last night was so cold I finally fell asleep planning to get my winter duvet and electric blanket into action. Will probably get my winter duvet for tonight.
yesterday DH and I did a bit of brambling while walking the dog - there's no way I'm making bramble jelly, though. As you say Marydoll, It's a right footer. Will just freeze them to make crumbles and pies
Hope all are as well as they can be

Mapleleaf Sun 30-Aug-20 11:21:59

gilly take that tag off and wear the jacket. As you say, it’s a much needed winter coat, so do not take it back. You deserve a little bit of self indulgence. There, telling off over. ??

Georgesgran Sun 30-Aug-20 11:30:50

grandMattie - is it the ‘youth of today?’ When we moved, part of our postcode is TB, so I always said ‘like the illness’. Then I realised I was getting blank stares, so it’s Tango Bravo now!
