Do you take your phone to bed?

Pretty sure that all modern phones have a "Do not disturb" feature. This means that they don't make sounds during a set period e.g. 11pm to 7 am. I discovered this when I had a friend who would regularly send texts whilst out walking her dogs at 5am!! The incoming text pings as soon as the sleep period is over.

I leave my phone downstairs. It charges quickly so does not need to be left charging overnight. I think that is risky. My iPad charges overnight, also downstairs.
DH always has his mobile with him but we are rarely disturbed. Family know to ring on the landline in emergency as we will hear that.
Peace and quiet in the bedroom, though we do listen to the radio, but each has a set of headphones.

BIL needs to learn how to use his phone properly. His problem to solve, not yours.

I charge mine upstairs so it’s handy in an emergency like a power cut, but I always remember to put it on silent so I don’t get disturbed.

When anyone complains about me sending them texts too early (8am early??), I tell them they need to sort their phone settings out.

My phone sits on my bedside table all night, in case of emergency. I wouldn't be able to sleep without it.
I fully charge it in the evenings just in case.

Both mine and DH's mobile are on charge in the bedroom at night. Mine is on my bedside table. Mine has been on silent for some years now: I use my mobile for many things and phonecalls is the least important of them to me.

Both of us take them to bed, look at the news last thing, don't put them on silent or do not disturb & go through emails, news, socials first thing sat up in bed with a cup of tea. Wouln't dream of leaving them downstairs!

Always take my phone upstairs at night in case of emergencies. Illness, fire, burglars . . . It's not strange, just sensible.

We were advised by the fire brigade to take a mobile phone upstairs to our bedroom in case a fire breaks out in the night. This would seem sensible. We do have a landline extension on our bedroom but the fire may have destroyed the base downstairs. The mobile doesn’t need to be switched on it’s just there in case you are stuck upstairs.

Always have mine next to the bed at night. It is my alarm in the morning plus I like to know if there is a family emergency. Both my mother and FIL died overnight so I do dread that call. Plus another time my DS and his partner had to call when they were taken ill overnight and we had to go and pick up our DGD, who was only a few months old, as they were unable to look after her as they were throwing up all the time.

I have mine by the bed on silent!

I charge it in bedroom too. I prefer to have it handy just in case. It has never gone off at night or woken me up at all. DH has his on the bed & more often than not goes downstairs without it in the morning.

I always take my phone to bed: it's my alarm clock and I also have a raindrops sound effect running, which I find helpful for sleeping.
It's Always on aeroplane mode, though, so no texts or notifications or calls can get through.
When there have been times with family members in hospital, I've set it to to Do Not Disturb, which allows calls only, and only from named people, no other bleeps.
I Never use it in bed, it just lies there, raining gently, until the alarm goes off.

I keep my phone next to me, on silent except for 'priority' calls at night. Having three sons who live in three different countries, I want to be at the end of the phone in an emergency. Has only happened once, but that was enough for me to have the phone close for peace of mind.

Husband's in bedroom turned off and charging. Mine downstairs and charging. But I do have an iPad by the bed and look at it over my morning tea.

Both landline bell and Mobile phone in bedroom in case of fire and emergency. Recommended by home check fire officer. Always have a phone in your bedroom is part of plan B

Although I have a landlines in my bedroom, I take my mobile with me and charge overnight. I don't sleep well at all and listen to audible to help me to drop off. I use my mobile as an alarm too.

Keep mine by my bed, when installing smoke detectors the fireman said to keep it by me upstairs at night as first part of my ‘escape’ plan which he said we should all have

I would never leave a phone charging downstairs. I too have heard of them causing fires.

I have mine next to my bed on silent. I never charge it over night as a Firefighter told me it was a fire hazard

I have earphones with Alexa on it, which requires the phone to be nearby with ap on it to work properly I use that to listen to Audible books when I go to bed.

I do have a landline phone next to my bed, but also like to have my mobile close to me at all times. It is set to night time mode - so on silent at night. I have a charging wire next to the bed, and one attached to my recliner chair in the living room,. Charge the phone when battery is getting low. For alarm, when I need it - use the Echo dot which is my lovely tiny bedside clock, etc. Only use the phone for alarm when I am away from home.

Personally, I think that modern technology is absolutely wonderful!!!

I use mine to listen to sleep affirmations as well as an alarm but I though most phones had a quiet hours setting so that notifications don't happen. I can set that and have the phone ring for emergencies still

I have an aged mobile which is mainly my alarm clock, and a smartphone which I fiddle around with far too much.

I have a very quiet 'blip' on both phones for texts, so they don't wake me but a call would do - which is what I want.

I did, but I've stopped doing it, I leave them across the landing in a spare bedroom. I tend to get them after whichever of us has made and delivered the first morning coffee upstairs. There are land lines on our ground floor and first floor but not up on the second floor where our bedroom is. Too intrusive!

Our phones and my tablet are all left charging in our office, on silent, overnight. We have a landline in the bedroom in case of emergencies.

I don't have a landline so I keep my mobile close by at all times, including bedtime.
