Hello! As I said, I'm new.
I joined today. Not a Gran (or a Grandad), but then I'm not a Mum either, and I'm on Mumsnet.
So. Show me around please!

FannyCornforth Wed 16-Sept-20 18:24:01

Oh, and I didn't buy the Jack Daniel's as it isn't currently on offer at Tesco, however, there is a good deal at Morrisons and Ocado.

FannyCornforth Wed 16-Sept-20 18:21:22

Namsnanny, can you post a photo please?

janeainsworth Wed 16-Sept-20 17:52:34

Namsnanny how thrilling! Please let us know the outcome.

FannyCornforth Wed 16-Sept-20 17:44:11

I hope that you don't mind me saying thank you for making me welcome here.
It had a patchy start but I hope that is all rectified now.
Hope that you are all having a good day.
Mine's a dry white wine, I'm not too fussy!

NanKate Wed 16-Sept-20 17:24:48

Your welcome to join the drinks party JaxJacky shall we have some nibbles too ?

FannyCornforth Wed 16-Sept-20 16:56:36

Wow Namsnanny, how exciting!
Lizzie Siddal is much finer boned than Fanny Cornforth.
Much more delicate features.
FC had a prodigious amount of hair.

Namsnanny Wed 16-Sept-20 16:49:35

Yes wouldnt that be exciting!
I'll carry a newspaper and wear a red carnation so you'll know who I am grin

Callistemon Wed 16-Sept-20 16:40:49

We'll look out for you on the Antiques Road Show, namsnanny!

Namsnanny Wed 16-Sept-20 16:32:22

I'm just going to throw caution to the wind and show off now, because I am tracing a sketch I bought at auction some time ago with no signature.

It's a portrait which I've since been told could be of Lizzy Siddall (wife) but could be one of the other muses, who all look similar to me, by D.G. Rossetti.

I'm trying to get some more info at the moment.

The Victorian frame it came in was painted in possibly the '60-70's, in a psychedelic mix of lime green, purple and orange.

I think that's why no one else wanted it!

Ilovecheese Wed 16-Sept-20 16:14:51

Have you been to Manchester City Art gallery FannyCornforth?
They have a very good collection of Pre Raphaelite paintings. I have been visiting every now and again since I was a teenager, to remind myself of how lovely they are.

As regards Gransnet, I like the News and Politics threads best

What a funny word it is!

I sound like Miranda.

Callistemon Wed 16-Sept-20 16:12:29

Jaxjacky

JD is a bourbon, not whisky...x

I thought bourbon was a bourbon whiskey (with an 'e')
Not whisky without an 'e' as in 'Scottish whisky'

BlueSky Wed 16-Sept-20 15:56:04

I'm having a Guinness, dying laughing! grin

NanKate I’ll join you in that if I may...?

NanKate Wed 16-Sept-20 15:26:49

My DH, who is in the garden, has just come up to the window to see what all my hysterical laughter is about. My reply ‘A load of old fannies dearest’. ?

I’ll join you for a drink Lemongrove. A glass of chilled white wine would go down nicely. ?

Callistemon Wed 16-Sept-20 15:00:17

Thank you Ellianne

Ellianne Wed 16-Sept-20 14:59:50

pm'ed you Callistemon.

Callistemon Wed 16-Sept-20 14:54:52

FannyCornforth

Keeping with the alcohol theme, has anyone tried one of the variations of Jack Daniel's?
There's a cinnamon one, a honey one and a new Apple one.
I'm not usually a fan of whiskey, but they do sound tempting.

I was just going to say that you can't adulterate whisky, FannyCornforth, but then realised it is whiskey, so that's ok!

?

Yes I remember the advert Parsley....Granny’s explanation for baby’s name was, there’s always been a Fanny in our family. ?

Parsley3 Wed 16-Sept-20 14:25:54

There is a very funny Irn Bru advert about a baby being given the name Fanny, if anyone remembers it.

Squiffy Wed 16-Sept-20 13:57:55

Too late for me, my Tesco order’s on its way! ?? There’s always next week, I suppose …

FannyCornforth Wed 16-Sept-20 13:13:56

I'm just about to do my Tesco order.
Who knows what might happen...shock

lemongrove Wed 16-Sept-20 13:10:53

I’m saying nothing...... but I’ll have a gin if anyone is offering.
