Sorry to hear you have a cold Purplepixie and a hot toddy sounds like a good plan. Enjoy the warmth in the kitchen as I am.

Good morning from a a sunny Portugal. Not particularly warm so it's time to bring out the long sleeved tops and put away most of the summer ones.
Congratulations Izabella you really are a star. What an achievement and so much money raised. ??
Soop I do hope you get an appointment very soon for your op. You really don't need that pain and discomfort. Galen I hope you are feeling brighter today. Pain is so debilitating. Cyber hugs to you both.
Dragonfly46 unfortunately my son is still waiting for for the scans and reports from the hospital here so the BC oncologist cant yet give an opinion. As my oncologist has now arranged for biopsies on the infected lymph glands in my neck and under my arm my son has sent me his instructions of how many spots they should take and how they should be mounted all too technical for me. But he wants to make sure there is enough material for testing this time. Dont know if they will listen though.
I hope your radiotherapy goes well. It's certainly less taxing than chemo.
I do hope Ann60 is okay and in less pain. I hope you return to the kitchen soon to keep us updated.

My week started off badly but have received good news this morning. My poor DH reacted badly to my news and went into a decline and would hardly speak to me and anything I said about anything was taken the wrong way. But after seeing his new psychiatrist on Thursday is feeling much brighter and more positive. He was with him for over an hour.
Wednesday morning I woke up to bad news. My 19 year old DGS was taking his girlfriend home on Tuesday evening and was attacked by a gang of 8 youths. They dragged him off his bike and stabbed him without any provocation. He had 5 stab wounds and a fractured leg. Poir boy has had to have 3 operations. One of the stabs had cut through the nerves to he had to be transferred to another hospital for another operation to repair the nerves. Then another to put a plate in his leg. The good news is he can go home today but the doctors say it could be 2 years before he is completely healed. What is the world coming to hmm

Sorry to ramble on but my contribution to the kitchen today is a tasty fish pie.

TOYA

Good morning in this lovely warm kitchen. Please reserve me the rocking chair by the stove. I got up this morning with a head cold, sore throat, the works! Hot lemon and honey for me right now and some paracetamols. Dear husband is making the tea tonight, stir fried chicken with tinned fruit for after. Definately hot toddies tonight. I’ll pop by later. Hope you are all well and stay safe.

Puzzler61 Sat 17-Oct-20 11:28:13

Well done cornergran!
I’ve just entered 2 of the comps. spurred on by your win ☺️
Wishing a calm and positive day for all Kitchen friends.

Izabella Sat 17-Oct-20 10:46:48

Good morning all from a stilled and chilly Shire. I cannot begin to play catch up with all the news in the kitchen so suffice to say TOYA and sending healing vibes to needy recipients. I do, however, note that Galen is not her usual self, and hope things get easier flowers Have we heard from Annesixty ? I hope all is well.

Also welcome to anyone new - you will get used to my ramblings.

Today a spot of tlc for the houseplant collection, a brief foray into town and oxtail for dinner tonight.

Thanks to all for the encouragement I received. Not sure what the next challenge will be ?

Meanwhile take care everyone (either two or four legged) in these strange times. I cannot keep up with all these tiers and regulations. Life almost seems easier in my oft befuddled trajectory. Apologies if I sound a little 'flat'. Our in-house Doctor says I must rest! ?

Charleygirl5 Sat 17-Oct-20 10:15:47

Sorry, corner I forgot, what a lovely surprise to win a prize and good I recognised a name for once.

There is a charity shop very local and one helper said she only joined GN to hopefully win a prize. She never looks at anything else.

Charleygirl5 Sat 17-Oct-20 10:12:56

corner to me that appears to be a ridiculous time to wait.

Galen that cake looks scrumptious- no wonder Gary thinks it is for himself alone.

I will not need to go to the bank- only a loaf of bread is required. Spag bol for tonight with a glass or two of wine as I settle down to watch the first of Strictly. Last year I recognised 4 Z list celebs,- probably the same this year.

dragonfly46 Sat 17-Oct-20 09:20:34

Hope Macsporran’s scan goes well on Thursday. I too do hospital visits on my own these days and in some ways it is easier.

I learnt that as I am having radiotherapy I have been excused jury duty. I am quite sorry in a way. Pleased the treatment is going ahead though as it is the belt added to the braces!

Ann I hope you are feeling better.
Maw we miss you, hurry back.
That result must come soon Corner surely?
And Galen I hope the pain has eased. The cake was delicious.

Puzzler61 Sat 17-Oct-20 09:12:36

Good morning all.
Galen I hope your night was more restorative sleep and less pain? Please tell Gary the small piece of cake he cut for me (he didn’t seem keen to share) was scrumptious and I was still licking my lips an hour after finishing it. A triumph of a coffee walnut cake!

Galen Fri 16-Oct-20 18:39:47

Well Gary’s got his share. The rest is for you ladees

Charleygirl5 Fri 16-Oct-20 18:27:21

I agree soop I thank somebody every day I do not have to negotiate tubes into central London to get to work and wonder what time and how I will get home each evening. I am fortunate my pension is fixed so I know what I am working with each month.

soop Fri 16-Oct-20 17:23:05

Thank you, Grandmabatty. Appointment is on Thursday. There's no point in me travelling with him. I would have to remain in the car park. Also, the fish and chip restaurant where we used to have a marvelous lunch, is closed.

Charleyg I suppose that in the current crisis, with folk losing their jobs and such, we are fortunate.

I cannot stop yawning. It's something that creeps up on me as the day progresses. Were it not for 'drop-bot', I may feel inclined to ride the exercise bike. Right now, nothing could be further from my mind. wink

Enjoy your Friday evening in the best way you're able. I think that we should all descend on N&G and the boys. She would welcome us with open arms. hmm Okay, we'll camp on the lawn, providing there are generous refreshments. We can all spook each other, fall about laughing and, who knows, find ourselves in custody for a breach of the peace. As for me...I know nuffink.

Until tomorrow, smile moon] and thank you for your company.

Grandmabatty Fri 16-Oct-20 16:06:54

Soop fingers crossed for Macsporran on Tuesday. It's a long way to go too. I hope everyone is alright. I'm definitely having a fit of the glums today but I'll get over it. Have a good day all.

Charleygirl5 Fri 16-Oct-20 16:03:46

It must cost a lot more to administer the paltry 25p to each person who reaches 80. I actually think it is an insult in this day and age.

soop Fri 16-Oct-20 15:25:19

ann I am hoping to hear that you are slowly but surely improving.

MacS has an appointment for a scan in Oban on Thursday. He has lost a good deal of weight. Remains as positive and cheerful as ever.

soop Fri 16-Oct-20 15:22:25

Maw Hurry back to where you belong.

Tara...behave! We are fond of you and your Mum.

Izabella Wonderful lady. Wonderful achievement. flowers sunshinegrin CONGRATULATIONS from all of us.

ann MacSporran recieved the same "bonus" as you have. When he read out the letter, he paused after 'twenty five' and I did a funny dance. I expected him to add £'s. Certainly not pence. However, we are grateful. Every little helps.

soop Fri 16-Oct-20 15:14:09

N&G Wow! Those boys are in for a goulish treat. If I could tag along and be scared out of my wits, I wouldn't hesitate. You are grandparents from heaven.

Dear Galen, I empathise. We understand the whys and wherefores of your mood swings. It's a barmy time. Physical pain adds to the frustration. Some stick to the rules like super glue, others couldn't give a flying fig. What do we want? We want to return to a normal, carefree-ish existence. It will happen. I cannot begin to guess when. (((hugs)))

NanaandGrampy Fri 16-Oct-20 14:10:19

Afternoon all,

Hope you’re feeling less down Galen . Never apologise for coming here and telling it like it is. We all understand .

Hope ann is feeling a bit better too.

We are enjoying our mad time with the boys !

But I’ll need a rest when they go lol

cornergran Fri 16-Oct-20 12:53:26

Well done izabella, that’s a superb achievement.

Oh dear greyd, I suggest Mr Greyd takes over the kitchen, while you enjoy a medicinal lemon, homey and the alcohol of your choice.

Still waiting that test result, for goodness sake, 3 days now. It seems the patient is coughing a lot, otherwise cheerful unlike the people locked in with her.

Sat waiting in a very dull hospital car park for Mr C to emerge. ehile trying to ignore messages from my bladder hmm. He’s been ages, guess had to wait. Pleased we secured a parking space, there are builders doing what builders do and absorbing a whole lot of space.

Take care everyone. TOYA.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 16-Oct-20 12:51:06

Well done Izabella have a nice rest now ?

Galen Fri 16-Oct-20 12:50:12

Pain is the same but I feel more ‘the thing’ after a good nights sleep.
Thanks for asking

Pittcity Fri 16-Oct-20 12:47:40

Fabulous Izabella, I knew you could do it.

Charleygirl5 Fri 16-Oct-20 12:41:32

I agree, how are you ann? I do hope the pain has settled and your gorgeous cat is not getting in your way as you go around the house.

kittylester Fri 16-Oct-20 12:29:52

Well done Izabella and a fabulous amount to help research.

I am also wondering about Ann and how Galen is feeling today.

I'm also assuming that Anno is going to throw a wild party!! wine

Greyduster Fri 16-Oct-20 12:29:11

I woke up with a shocking head cold this morning. I know it’s just that because I am so hungry I could eat a scabby horse (just polished off a bacon lettuce and tomato panini!), but it will make any visit to the supermarket a nightmare because horrible things happen inside a mask if you have a head cold??. S’not funny really! Time to break out the home made elderberry cordial I think (bubble bubble toil and trouble!!). DH thinks fresh air is the answer. I have put him right on that one! I was going to make a cake today but I can’t risk sneezing into the cake mixture...... enjoy your day folks!
