Just popped back in again to say I love your emoji for "kick up the bum" MawB!

grandMattie Mon 05-Oct-20 13:23:12

Do we, Maw? Me too I’ve lost my mojo, but few things make me angrier than someone telling to pull myself together. I suppose it’s a result of having had a lot of depression...

MawB2 Mon 05-Oct-20 12:50:32

I could repeat Hollysteers post almost word for word!
Losing any get up and go I might ever have had is worrying and depressing me.
But even making plans is so subject to ifs and buts to the point where it is easier not to even try.
We need a “kicking up the bum” thread! ??)( ?

Panda25 Mon 05-Oct-20 12:41:48

Thanks Marydoll, yes it is beautiful here

Marydoll Mon 05-Oct-20 12:03:39

Panda, what a lovely place to live. ?

Panda25 Mon 05-Oct-20 11:51:19

Good morning , just!! From Sunny Glenluce in Scotland. Been singing online and now heading out for a walk

LadyHonoriaDedlock Mon 05-Oct-20 11:39:46

Sun shining in Glasgow. Unfortunately I have a Zoom seminar for my course this afternoon and I'm expecting a package.

Stilllearning Mon 05-Oct-20 11:21:14

Good morning from a brightening S Lanarkshire, been one thing after another this morning and am just about to leave for my ironing task at my daughter’s, trying to help a little while her husband is out of action after his op. Just had a quick skim of the posts and wanted to say what a nice picture of your granddaughter Auntieflo, so graceful. Have as good a day as possible everyone and enjoy your break Beauregard, thoughtful husband insisting on you not missing out.

hollysteers Mon 05-Oct-20 11:04:37

Morning Michael and all,
Sun shining on the west coast and daughter arriving later. Been in a Covid situation induced slump, so need a kick up the bum to get going. The not planning stuff or unable to do things spontaneously is getting me down with our severer restrictions. TV, books and house sorting get tedious but must count my blessings,
To those with real worries I send my thoughts.

Gwenisgreat1 Mon 05-Oct-20 11:00:34

Good Morning all from sunny (and cloudy) Harrogate. Feel quite puggled this morning! My covid test kit arrived last night, so pernickety. Test has to be done the same day it is posted and our post is collected at 9am and has to be posted at least one hour before post goes! I was very nervous doing it and probably touched what I shouldn't. Too early for me!! Especially since I'd been awake half the night worried about it. Pantglas Llandudno is where we should have been just now - love the town and the Great Orme, missed the visit this year!
Gillybob hurry and get back to us, we are worried about you.
Hope everyone is better today than they were yesterday

Taichinan Mon 05-Oct-20 10:49:24

Ellan crossed posts. I'm glad your birthday is lasting so long, and your roses sound lovely. What a popular lady you are!

Taichinan Mon 05-Oct-20 10:40:06

Good morning Mick and all who follow. After two days of rain in the Angus coast, it's raining again! But - OMG - I've just looked up and there's a patch of blue! Mind you it's racing off inland, chased by relentless rain and dark cloud coming off the sea. Hey ho. Big hug to you Marydoll, but the joyful vibes coming off those lovely bright pots should dispel some of your pain and discomfort. And I am sure Mr M is desperate to make amends for locking you out by collecting bags of compost and filling the pots for you ready for planting them up ?

Bit of not so good news yesterday from one of my tai chi ladies whose DD has just tested positive for Covid and the lady had been with her two days before her class I've decided I now need to cancel classes for two weeks to be on the safe side. So today and tomorrow will be a phonecall marathon But better safe than sorry.

Bellasnana I remember that humidity and the hit wind so well - I was always happy when winter came!!

Elizabeth do take care! Thank goodness you were close enough to reach your lovely warm blanket!

I think we are all beginning to feel the tension now of the ever-present threat of Covid. No wonder sleep is disturbed! We should probably all try to just "live in the Now" - easier said than done at 3 or 4 in the morning, I know! Unfortunately my Now involves myriad phone calls, so off I go. Have the best Now you can everybody ???

Borrheid55 Mon 05-Oct-20 10:35:55

Forgot to say Marydoll I hope DH at least gave you breakfast in bed to make up for his faux pas!

Borrheid55 Mon 05-Oct-20 10:33:29

Morning all from a brightish Kent. Not planned anything for today, might get to Waitrose later if DH has a mind to. I don’t drive so have to be chauffeured! Marydoll I love the pots very Alan Titchmarsh ? I love my garden too. Hard to believe we are already thinking about over winter care and spring bulbs. I noticed crocus or snowdrops planted a month ago are already showing leaves. Too early, away back to sleep ! Stay safe all! Hope you’re feeling better Marydoll x

EllanVannin Mon 05-Oct-20 10:32:22

Good Morning All x.
Another dark morning with no brightness shining through anywhere but I suppose it's now to be expected.

Gee whizz I was tired last night for some unknown reason and could merrily have gone to bed at 8pm but didn't as I didn't want to miss my tv series at 9pm, nor did I want to wake at 4am either. Made myself a cup of tea, pottered, and livened myself up.

Settled to watch the Singapore Grip----and the phone went !
However it was D in Oz, she'd been working out the clocks and times as theirs has now gone forward making it 11 hours ahead. Anyway we had a good natter and at least the family are all virus-free which is the main thing.

I had another lovely surprise yesterday when another arrangement of roses were sent, this time by a friend who'd been a next door neighbour 75 years ago and who still lives in the same house as her parents before her. We've always exchanged Birthday and Christmas cards over the years as well as postcards from wherever we were in the country/world on holiday. I must set-to and write a thankyou letter.

A relatively quiet day today so I'll have a browse on Ebay to make a mental note of ideas for Christmas.

No visiting to Ruby-Lou as a couple of the staff where she is have CV so she can't have visitors for a couple of weeks.

Glad that tests proved negative for Scentia's family, always a relief. Hoping Urmston's family are coming along alright too.

Couldn't help but laugh at Marydoll's antics, but sorry the after-effects of the jab are still present you can do without that.

Blimey, another flurry of cards have come through the letter box----not complaining mind you, it's probably because of the weekend post which is invariably dodgy. All very lovely though and I feel so fortunate.

Thoughts to our absent friends and wish that things would buck up for Gilly, even just a bit x It can't last forever girl.

Keep safe everyone and try and enjoy the day. xx.
Believe it or not, the sun's out here now and it's lovely. ( washing )

lovebeigecardigans1955 Mon 05-Oct-20 10:27:19

Morning all from South Notts. It's a bit murky here and I believe there's a chance of rain. I may or may not go out later, if it rains I'll stay in and attend to domestic matters instead.

Hope all is well with everyone, especially our usual posters who are absent at the moment.

Nannytopsy Mon 05-Oct-20 10:17:41

This man’s?? Morning!

Nannytopsy Mon 05-Oct-20 10:17:09

Good morning Mick and all his followers. We have had some rain here in Suffolk this man’s its still wet underfoot, so no gardening here today.
We did the school run this morning so a bit dozy now. I don’t do 6am alarm clocks these days! ?
Grandmabatty I put butter beans in beef casserole , then add cheese and herb dumplings- very yummy.
All well after our flu jabs here.
Best wishes to all of you with sore arms.

Auntieflo Mon 05-Oct-20 10:07:26

Good morning Mick, Annie, and all.

Loved the Ministerial, and Biblical rain descriptions. ?
Anybody got an ark?

I must get a move on and start the washing machine, before the heavens decide to open again.

Had a very lazy weekend, and now don't feel any better for it, just very lethargic, so must speak severely to myself.

I am popping up a picture of GD wedding, but only a back view, as I'm sure she wouldn't want to be plastered all over GN.

Hoping that Gillybob knows we are all keeping her in our thoughts.
Have a good day one and all.

GrannyOwl5 Mon 05-Oct-20 10:01:20

Good morning everyone from a damp and grey north Kent where it’s just started to drizzle again. I have an ‘empty’ this morning as DH is playing golf. Not quite sure what I shall get up to!

Should be flicking a duster around and letting the hoover out for a bit of exercise, but think I will let the dust settle for another day or so. Will finish my painting and then have a walk to see DD and scrounge a coffee.

Hope those with worries and illnesses find some improvement during the day. Good wishes to everyone for a pleasant day. Stay safe everyone

Urmstongran Mon 05-Oct-20 09:35:25

Sun’s up here! ? but oh boy it’s windy.
Good morning everyone from Malaga where it’s blowing a gale. Himself just unlocked the front door and because the patio door was open it was like a wind tunnel. Wowzer!

Our daughter just gave me one bell so I rang her landline. They are both wiped out with fatigue and she said that her temperature was high yesterday teatime but is okay again now. They keep having dips in how they feel. The smalls are well though, thankfully. A day at a time ...
?

I’m concerned about our gillybob too. I hope she gets in touch soon, it’s been too long.

No plans for us today. Reading, watching some SKY news, might wash my hair. Whatever, I’m not going out in this today!

Hope Monday is good to us all. Keep safe everyone that’s the main thing. This virus is so nasty. x

Mapleleaf Mon 05-Oct-20 09:35:22

Good morning all,

The sun is shining at the moment, but it is rather a chilly morning. Still, wrapped up warmly to go out and it will be fine.

Not a lot planned other than routine household jobs and a walk to the postbox to post a birthday card.

It sounds as if you have had a bargain, Marydoll - how lovely.

Take care all, and to all our missingGM’s I hope today is a better one for you. ?

Grandmabatty Mon 05-Oct-20 09:15:50

Good morning All from a relatively calm but grey Polmont. It seems I'm not the only one having boiler issues. Mine is temperamental and decided not to switch on this morning but then would only work on timer. Time for a service I fear. I was up making pancake batter earlier as I have dgs today. His normal breakfast at my house is cereal but I thought we would have a treat today. Pancakes and maple syrup. I have his wellies and rainsuit so we will go out later regardless. I made a massive casserole yesterday and I have enough left for today and then I'll freeze the rest. Does anyone else put butter beans in a beef casserole? We've always done it in our family. My papa was a miner and he used to have beef casserole for breakfast. Apparently it was known as a miner's breakfast. Marydoll the pots are very nice. Your husband has a lot of atoning to do! I'm off to make pancakes for a hungry toddler

Kalu Mon 05-Oct-20 09:10:19

Good morning everyone from a now sunny Glasgow. It’s probably chilly outside but a sunny start to the day is always a plus. The minus is, it shows up my dirty windows. ?

What a colourful arrangement of pots you have there Marydoll. Having another rotten night I’m sure you won’t feel up to potting them up just yet.
What a relief your DD and DGS had negative results Scentia

The last time I had a flu jab was six years ago. I watched the nurse choose the site and her aim was brutal, a very painful injection and a painful arm for three weeks. I have an appointment for the jab next week but I don’t suppose there is any possibility of the nurse allowing me to insert the needle myself and she can then push the plunger. The nurse doing it this time is lovely and she will probably laugh at my suggestion. ?

A white wash is already done and hanging out. I should be doing some housework but I want to make the most of a pleasant sunny day whenever they come along so I will potter about outside and enjoy the sunshine.

A pleasant day to all and a better day for all coping with worries/illness.
Please don’t forget, we are all here for you when you need us gilly?

Anniebach Mon 05-Oct-20 09:05:59

Good morning Auntyflo and all x
