I’ve been trying to get fit so have been using 1 kilo hand weights, so I left them on the floor by my chair in sitting room. Got up and went flying over one of the bu****s. Went full length and have severely bruised right shoulder And right knee and left ribs. Really shook up but don’t want to tell my children as they don’t need the worry. Just wanted to tell someone so if you’ve read this far thank you.

Oh bless you.
What a horrible trip up.
Confirms my opinion that exercise isn’t always a good thing.!
Hope you’re better soon.
You’ll be shook up right now.

Ouch! That sounds painful. Hope you sleep well tonight and feel a bit better tomorrow.

I'm staggered at the amount of 'Fall' threads.
I geniuinely fell down the stairs five years ago.
I knocked out my front teeth and was told that I was lucky that I didn't break my neck.
This week I finally had an MRI on my spine.
I honestly think that there are very unsetteling things going on here.

Keep fit is bad for your health.

Grannynannywanny Thu 08-Oct-20 20:14:38

Bluebellwould that sounds painful and must have left you pretty shaken up. Hope you feel better soon.
I think you’ve added weight to the argument that exercise can be bad for you!

Fennel Thu 08-Oct-20 20:14:48

Maybe we 'oldies' are trying to keep going beyond our natural potential?

cornergran Thu 08-Oct-20 20:24:49

Oh Bluebellwould that must hurt. You know it doesn’t mean you will keep falling, there was a reason for this one, I imagine you’ve moved the trip hazard. smile. A warm bath or shower, arnica for the bruises if you have some and relax for a while. Feet up, no harm in a glass of wine or your favourite tipple, it will seem better tomorrow.

Poor you, that sounds extremely painful. I had a spectacular one last year walking home from pilates and bruised ribs. It took six weeks to recover so take things easy.

Bluebellwould Thu 08-Oct-20 21:03:15

Thank you all for your kind words, they are truly appreciated. I’m okay now just bruised. One of my cats came and sat on my lap so I’ve stopped shaking. Thank you once again.

Fanny, stop what exactly?

Tea3 Thu 08-Oct-20 21:26:32

Full of sympathy Bluebellwould. I'm currently recovering from an injury caused by trying to improve my fitness.

Callistemon Thu 08-Oct-20 21:28:19

Fennel

Maybe we 'oldies' are trying to keep going beyond our natural potential?

I've been falling over since I was a child.
I was the girl who always had grazed knees, kept Elastoplast going.

In fact, I could give other posters a run for their money (but not too fast please).

Hope you feel better, Bluebellwould.

Aldom Thu 08-Oct-20 21:32:00

Bluebellwould Falls are very shocking. Wishing you a very speedy recovery. Flowers

Bluebellwould Thu 08-Oct-20 21:34:16

Sorry for everyone who’s had a fall hope everyone gets better soon. It’s awful how many of us who have had a fall.

Jaxjacky Thu 08-Oct-20 21:41:25

Bluebellwould it shakes you up, but if you’d done it ten years ago, you’d just have thought how daft leaving them there. That’s the same as now, so move them, lick your wounds, giving yourself time to heal, it was just an accident ?

Callistemon Thu 08-Oct-20 21:42:39

We don't have a fall *Bluebellwould. Well, we hope not.
We fall over - trip or slip on a hazard.
You tripped, it wasn't an unexplained fall.

There's a difference.

Ouch! I hope it doesn’t take too long for the soreness to go.
Well done for trying to keep fit, though.

Slipped on wet leaves a year ago, and ruptured tendon in kneecap. Operation, splint and physio and now need stick to get around.
I'm told due to my age (69) it won't get any better.

Chewbacca Thu 08-Oct-20 22:09:00

Stop what Fanny? confused

I fell/slipped on ice some years ago and crashed straight down onto both knees. Took full impact of my not inconsiderable weight and I've suffered with painful knees ever since. You have my sympathy Bluebellwould.

CanadianGran Thu 08-Oct-20 22:15:27

Sorry to hear it; darn weights! Hope you feel better soon, but if you are really sore later or tomorrow, call the doctor.
