Ashcombe Thanks for that! That option wasn't available when I did "porridge" way back when!
It's like being muzzled and is a stupid punishment in the anonymous context of GN, regardless of what "crime" has been committed and deprives the victim of any democratic right of reply
Oops! There I go, rocking the boat again with an opinion.

Good Morning Tuesday
(104 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but its dry outside , my usual trip out today on the buses, and say hello to those I have got to know .
It will Buckingham ,and then Bicester have a coffee and a snack there in cafe at the back of the bakery shop , then browse in Sainsburys before getting direct bus home .
This afternoon the Giro continues on Eurosport and watch the drama unfold.
Take Care ,
Mick
Hello Charleygirl ???
Grandmafrench totally agree ??
grandmafrench ???. Charleygirl welcome back! We've missed you. X
Grandmafrench
. Good to see your longer post today. I too noticed they have been a bit shorter these last couple of days and now know why. I really look forward to reading your thoughts and good advice each day.
Yes, poor horse has been cooped up for a couple of weeks now and clearly felt that was more than enough. Just like us!
Charliegirl ?
I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all who made our lives less of a misery in the doghouse by knowing so many were on our side.
I was allowed out late am having spent a week and a day there.
Thank you
Sorry, Beauregard, forgot to say about your naughty horse's bid for freedom - think we all know just how he/she feels !

Although married, we spend a lot of time alone not being terribly sociable. But, it is nice to meet the odd person for coffee or lunch, go to my craft groups or W. I,, or whatever. It’s the enforced isolation which is getting to me.
I do a lot of crafts. Don’t see much of the family as they live too far, too busy to visit but don’t want us to take the train for fear of infection.
I KNOW I am very blessed being in full possession of my marbles and in rude health, but....
Good Morning everyone from a showers first thing but now blue and sunny South of France.
Longer post today (Urms and Sark) by way of explanation. All those already bored, please go and put the kettle on, this won't take long.
I am afraid that recently I have had "the right hump!" No other way of putting it. I have been very angry and disappointed at the way the Forum, but more particularly the very sociable threads, have been infiltrated by those whose only wish is to derail and spoil the atmosphere for others. In hoping to have order restored by responding in the way that they are made to feel, some posters have then been unable to use the site. We are Grandmothers - I say that as a point to age and experience and nothing to do with how many Grandchildren we do or don't have - so why pander to idiots and treat us, the majority, like children? It beggars belief. So I retreat until I feel more calm and less likely to give an opinion which is going to place me in the same position. That's all I can do. Maybe others feel the same way. Clearly can't discuss it, but thanks sincerely for asking.
Like Scentia I worry that I may say too much. Some threads started on this Forum which should promote debate, all too often deteriorate into abusive or spiteful slanging matches....well, what's the point of that. Isn't life difficult enough? In the real world I know/think that Urms and I would be on the opposite ends of the political spectrum. On here I see only warmth and support and interest and sometimes a good laugh. This is the feeling that keeps us coming back morning after morning - and long may it last.
In other news - Grandmattie I feel exactly the same. I am blessed with a wonderful DH and the fact that we're a team - but it can still feel solitary sometimes because, it doesn't stop me longing for the life that we had BC (before Covid!) I want to travel freely, stop somewhere for coffee, mix with people normally. Of course that day will come but ....please.....when? We all need something to look forward to and at the moment that's just not happening.
Yesterday went to the Vet with an uncooperative puss! The Vet diagnosed Cystitis, so I was pleased we took her. After treatment and a fair amount of bad temper (her not me), she went to sleep in her carrier. We then had, as his almost last appointment) a lovely long chat with the Vet about life generally, his hopes and dreams, our hopes and dreams. A friend then walked in to reception - someone he first met when they were 12. So we moved our 'party' to reception. It was so lovely to see them and be included in the banter and good humour. We left there feeling we had been to a meet up with friends and lots of laughter......despite having to shout through masks. This is what we are all missing, I think, particularly those of us who don't see their families.
M. le President speaking to the nation tomorrow evening. Not sure it will be good news - but hey ho.
Hurrah for sorting out your little pooch, Scentia, and feel better soon eh? Gwen, glad you're hearing better, mumofmadboys - you're a Star ! To all of you in pain or a low mood, sad or a bit discombobulated. Feel better and. brighter very soon.
Always lovely to be here on this thread where, it seems, everyone matters.
Hugs to you all from France.

Rufus, they are now the Doghouse3, one of the black sheep has returned to the fold.
You can read all the posts, as Ashcome says, but cannot post.
Otherwise it would be a very lonely existence for those vulnerable posters, living on their own, who have been isolated.
They have appreciated all the support.
I wonder what is going to happen to the Doghouse4 part of me wants to say something controversial
Scentia Go on! Be a devil!
We'll be interested to see what happens, depending on how controversial you are! Rest assured you'll have everyone's virtual support during visiting hours!

Hello all, from a bright and sunny Sidmouth. I hope all of you feeling a bit under the weather feel better as the day goes on.
Sorry to be so ignorant but due to lack of time and always getting up late I don't often read much of this part of Gransnet.
Could somebody enlighten me as to what the Awesome Foursome is/are please? Also Scentia, what do you make in your factory? Just being nosey!
Mick, I get worried about all your gadding about on buses and into various cafes and shops. Isn't it dangerous to do those things at the moment?
Everybody have a safe and happy day.
Rufus
It’s possible to read posts on Gransnet without being logged in but you can’t comment.
As for the Doghouse4, they are still reading your posts,
Marydoll How do they manage that?
I think of them as the Awesome Foursome up there on an iCloud, observing social distancing, of course and taking notes on their iPads.
Good Health

Very damp in Thanet as well, but I count it as a good day when I do a major Sainsbury's shop and manage to get a parking space within walking distance of the house
Also fresh sourdough cheese sandwich for lunch....
Oh my word Beauregard! That's a beauty and produced my first big ? of the day! Thank you X. And to Cherry for her comment ???
I think it's the weather that's making things so much harder now, Mapeleaf, and of course the novelty of the situation has worn off. However did our mothers and grandmothers get through their wars!
I'm working my way (enjoying sitting reading) through all the posts, but back to work I must go again. I'm going to have to start getting up at 06.00 to give me time to read them all. Or maybe not! I'm obviously a slow reader and haven't got half way yet! But you've all cheered me up, so thank you Good Morningers all. ?
Dragonfly I know what you mean! The clog dancer in the ballet class!
Good morning all. Another wet day ahead here in County Durham.
Hello Fresh and Asda delivery expected so a day at home with GD2 to keep us busy again with the boys arriving after school too.
Speaking of schools, the so called bubbles are being hit so hard with disruption in many. My daughter was not only teaching and doing her regular classroom cleaning, lunch and break time supervision but also acting as a dinner lady serving lunches too ( staff absences galore last week). So much of what is happening is hidden. I totally agree with schools going back but then also feel staff are like "lambs to the slaughter". They do not have the same protection as in offices etc. Anyway, rant over and let's get on with the day!
Our trip to Melrose it seems can go ahead. I was expecting harsher restrictions here yesterday.
Hoping for better days ahead for us all.
Good Morning all from wet and miserable Harrogate. Cherrychezzy that must be dreadful having seizures in the night! Hope you have someone with you to make sure you are safe!!
Scentia glad you are feeling better today
Already I've been to the hospital to have an adjustment to my hearing aid - so much better, I now feel part of the world!!
Got more dairy free baking to do, DH does nowt but moan, but he knows it's for his own good, the hospital doesn't do anything about his cough so someone has to.
Please all, be the best you can be!
Sun is struggling to appear in mid Cornwall. No digger man today. Think he's as fed up with all the rain at the moment. This build is really getting on top of us both. Another disagreement last night
Waterproofs and wellies on very soon for Mya's first walk then a brief shopping trip. Bake off tonight - something to look forward to.
Have a trouble free Tuesday everyone.
Good morning to everyone on GN or in the doghouse. ?
Good morning Mick and all. Big hug Grandmattie?and all those having a wobble. We will get there in the end make no mistake.
Your perky parsnip Beauregard made me think about Mrs Bobbit. In fact it crossed my mind that I’m surprised the there are no posters with that name having read some strange threads over the years.
My thoughts are with those in high risk areas, especially Liverpool as they’re at the highest so far. Do take extra care, be safe.
Be safe all of you. Chin up. We can do this.
Wave to the doghouse4, hope we see you back soon.
Ashcombe I shared Steve Pottinger’s clever poem on FB, I know a lot of my friends and colleagues will appreciate it. ?
I’m glad the poem in my earlier post chimed with some of you. My sole intention had been to amuse, whilst sharing the talent of Steve Pottinger. I am in awe of people who can create such clever poetry and so quickly since the original Fatima poster only appeared yesterday!
Morning all. It's a cold wet blustery one on the Angus coast. I'm sitting watching the next squall coming out of the north and thinking we're on the edge of this one. Maybe.
Like you Grandmattie, I'm feeling a bit stir crazy - haven't seen a human bean since last Thursday! We aren't locked down here of course, just can't have anyone in our homes and can only meet with people from one other family group, outside!. So really it's the weather causing my lockdown, not Covid! However, I must away down to Tesco today, and a friend is popping by this afternoon with some fuschia bushes for me to choose from - in aid of the Scottish National Trust. She also helps out at the Wildlife Centre and says we have 70,000 geese there now, which is average for this time of year.
Clever poem, Ashcombe. That ad was a bit crass, wasn't it. It does sometimes seem as if politicians and their advisers lose touch with the real world once they enter Westminster!
Right, off I go to do something exciting. By the way, that squall did miss my hilltop so I'll take that as a good omen for the day ?. Thoughts today with all those at the top of the pyramid - stay safe. Have the best day you can everybody ???
Good morning everyone from north Kent where it is grey and damp.
Nothing much planned for today. No gardening work as it’s too wet so might continue with the current jigsaw. DH getting fed up as he recovers from his fall; he’s not used to being indoors, but the pulled muscle in his leg is stopping him from being very active. Will have to discover urgent jobs that need doing - I bought a fire pit for the garden so he can put that together. Keep him busy for a bit!
We can also pop out to local hardware shop for a battery for the front door bell which I discovered wasn’t working when DS called round yesterday to check on DH. He frightened the life out of me when I came down the stairs to see a large shadowy figure in the front porch peering through the inner glass door. He said as we hadn’t answered the bell he was checking to see if we were dead on the floor!
Hope all those in the front line places keep their spirits up today; I always think how inspirational you all are getting on with things regardless. Best wishes to those with illnesses and worries. Have a good everyone. Stay safe
