Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark and dry outside this morning in Brackley .
Today , usual bus trips out ,and then return to watch the Giro stage .
Tried to sort out frost free freezer yesterday, hoping I have resolved the water problem.
Take Care ,
Mick

Good morning Mick and the GM team from a bright east London.

I have work to finish today and then a bit of housework, I think. The young woman who cuts my hair is coming on Saturday morning... it’s a really necessary visit.
We are shielding now ... although there hasn’t been any NHS letter ... we feel for us, it’s the right approach.

GrandMattie happy anniversary. ?Have a lovely dinner this evening.
Sheepandcattle I too very much enjoyed hearing about your plans and activities on the farm.
Lockdown 2 good morning.
Thinking of Bluesapphire and gilly and all facing challenges today. Have a good day, everyone. ?

Urmstongran Thu 15-Oct-20 08:32:40

Good morning everyone from Malaga where it’s already sunny ?

I didn’t post yesterday. We had some very sad news about our next door neighbour here. His wife telephoned me and told me he has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He is such a lovely chap. They won’t be back out here again now & have decided to put their apartment on the market next week.

Hey ho. You never know the day do you? It’s the end of an era. They bought their place before us. We all had some great times together.

Hope Thursday is kind to us all. I shall sit with my second cuppa and read all your posts from today & yesterday. Keep safe everyone that’s the main thing. x

Good morning Mick and all who follow. I hope you managed to sort the problem with your fridge/freezer successfully. Time will tell, no doubt. It's grey here on the Angus coast, but I hope it's going to be bright grey! Yesterday afternoon was glorious and I sat on the bench for a while by the pond, watching the fish and soaking up the vitamin D. Happy anniversary Grandmattie and enjoy your meal out. Beauregard sorry your daughter is quarantined. It does make it feel so real, doesn't it, when it comes so close to home. I'm just coming to the end of two weeks after the DD of one of my tai chi ladies tested positive. We are all 60+ (and the rest!) so felt I had to cancel classes for two weeks. Can't wait to re-start next Wednesday evening! Sheepandcattle - welcome. I missed your arrival, so now looking forward to tales of derring do down on the farm. Where is it, by the way? Glad to hear your treatment is re-starting Dragonfly ?. I have no perticular plans for today, but a friend brought me a couple of plants of "different" fuschias to pot up for the patio so I shall have to get on with that. Have a good day everyone and I hope the sun shines where you are. ???

Jaxjacky Thu 15-Oct-20 08:29:40

Good morning Mick and all from a clear S Hants. Happy Anniversary GM enjoy your day and meal. Hi to all new posters, what interesting lives people lead, lovely to read.
Company visit this morning to price up fitting our new kitchen ?they offer a good price and can do it relatively soon. I’ve promised myself a new greenhouse, but not until I’ve cleared the garden spot for it, so I’ll start pm today.
Have a calming day today all.

Marydoll Thu 15-Oct-20 08:26:59

Good morning all from a cold Glasgow. My good friend Alexa tells me, it's -1° outside.❄️

Due to the rain yesterday, I never got into the garden, hopefully today.
The plan is to clear the raised beds and plant shallots and onions. Nothing ever goes to plan, so we shall see. I'm easily sidetracked!?
Grandmattie, snap! it was our 43rd wedding anniversary a few weeks ago. I can't believe DH has lasted that long. That man is indeed a saint ?!!

Welcome to all the newcomers, I have lost track over the last few days, but it's good to see new members posting on *Mick's lovely thread.
sheepandcattle, you definitely have a lot to keep you busy.
The farmer ? beside us, is up and out a the crack of dawn, come hail or shine. The very early morning starts and working outside in the cold does not appeal to me at all!!?

The macaroons were a great success yesterday, however I'm still trying to remove the coconut from my teeth!? I may have been somewhat greedy over indulged.
I have been asked for my Mars Bar recipe, which I will post later from my PC. Due to my lack of dexterity, I find typing on my tablet difficult.
Unfortunately it is highly calorific too!
These are recipes from when I was newly married. A little does you know harm.
Life is pretty awful for us all at the moment, little treats help.
My neighbours of course will benefit too!?

The third Doghouse member has been released from incarceration this morning. Just one to go.

Finger crossed for those posters and family members awaiting Covid test results, a worrying time. N Sturgeon's update today is not something I'm looking forward to.?

Wishing everyone, a very pleasant day, what ever your plans.

Annapops Thu 15-Oct-20 08:25:57

Happy Anniversary GMattie. Have a wonderful day.

Annapops Thu 15-Oct-20 08:23:06

Good morning all from Melrose today. We did get away yesterday to our lovely snug cottage in the borders. We feel so fortunate to be here having our last break for some considerable time. Yesterday we visited Abbotsford, the home of Walter Scott. What beautiful gardens they were. Autumn is truly one of my favourite months, especially on days when a little sun peeks through too. The colours in nature are so spectacular.

A big thank you for all your congratulations regarding GD1 who will embark on her Royal Ballet journey in January. I'm sure I'll keep you informed, they'll be no stopping me. She's only eight years old and witnessing how hard she worked during lockdown on her dancing and gymnastics displayed such dedication for such a young child.

A 5 mile walk today, the weather should be dry and we're sure to enjoy some wonderful scenery.

Have the best day you can today and I'm looking forward to reading about all your exploits when we get back to the cottage later. Stay safe.

Good Morning all, it is lovely and bright here , maybe because I’m a bit late getting up !
Our bowls club hasn’t started this year , our hall is being used for overflow from the Primary School, so out of bounds for everyone else
The hairdresser is coming this afternoon to give me a tidy up , I missed her last visit due to a very painful earache, so I’m overdue for shearing . So glad she can fit me in before she is closed for four weeks .
My eldest GS is part time in the kitchen of the local Gastro Pub so he is out of a job from Friday too , more time for his studies ???

Grammaretto Thu 15-Oct-20 08:17:20

Good morning all from the hospital carpark in Edinburgh.
I have to wait until I hear from DH if he is to be kept in or let out. It is a small procedure but with all the extra covid worries it isn't easy. I brought a flask and sandwiches but hope I don't need the loo!
Happy anniversary grandMatte and enjoy your family meal.
That was a turnaround Dragonfly I thought you were being let off.
It isn't raining so that's a good thing to report.

LauraNorder Thu 15-Oct-20 08:15:41

Good morning Mick and all from dry, cool and wind free Anglesey. Builders already have the big mixer going, hoping it’ll all be finished by the end of the month, we’ve been living like moles since July.
Happy Anniversary grandMattie, enjoy your meal out.
Glad you lips are getting better Scentia keep smiling.
GrannyGravy, I know what you mean about being nervous of things we enjoyed so much before the lurking lurgy came along.
Lovely stories from the farm Sheepandcattle. We had some balwen sheep years ago when we ventured in to the good life for a while.
Hope your daughter will be okay Beauregard, poor teachers are having to be brave.
Hope everything will be fine for you dragonfly, as if it’s not tough enough.
Wishing you all a pleasant day.

Greyduster Thu 15-Oct-20 08:14:51

A belated Happy Anniversary to Harrigran - don’t know how I missed that one yesterday but I hope you had a lovely day!???

Greyduster Thu 15-Oct-20 08:11:31

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. The South Yorkshire sun is up in a clearing sky but it’s cold. DH is making soup this morning, so I will leave him to it and clear up the bombsite afterwards. Joking. He’s actually tidier than me, but very slow so he could still be making soup this afternoon! I have ironing to do and will do some more work on my rug. Sheepandcattle another lovely post. We are surrounded by farms locally but they are mostly arable - some run a few sheep - but the farming year is fascinating all the same.
Happy Anniversary to you GrandMattie and MrG! Have the best day you can folks!

kittylester Thu 15-Oct-20 08:11:16

Morning all from my bit of North Leicestershire which sounds very similar to dragonfly's. I'm so pleased things are moving for you.

Hair cut for me this morning and then a zoomed funeral so I will look presentable. It's just occurred to me that I'm not sure what to wear!

DS2 (of teapot fame!) was sent home from work yesterday yesterday as someone he has contact with has tested positive. He's off for a test today.

Congratulations, gm. thanks

Welcome to all newcomers and lots of love to gilly.

NfkDumpling Thu 15-Oct-20 08:07:04

Morning All

It was dry with high cloud when the sky got light this morning, nearly sunny, but then very dark clouds billowed up and now its raining again. I had hoped for a dry day so we could go out somewhere for a walk, but I fear my bit of Norfolk is forecast to stay grey today.

Gingster Thu 15-Oct-20 08:04:56

Good morning all from a chilly but clear Essex.

If we are put into tier 2 , we should go to our cottage by the sea in Suffolk, before we are not allowed. We are quite isolated up there so no problem of taking germs with us. (If we have any). We would stay for a few weeks and see how things pan out. ?.

I love your news of farm life sheepandcattle. It’s so lovely to hear about everyone’s different lives. ??.

Happy anniversary granmattie. Enjoy your day an evening meal.

I have my bowls and art clubs today, so will enjoy them while we can. DH is going out for breakfast with a couple of old pals. It will be nice later on to talk about our day . When it’s just us indoors , there’s not much to chat about ?.

DS1 and family popped round last evening. DDinlaw gave DH a trim up. Very smart. The Gd’s are a lively pair 11 and 14. Either bickering or screaming with laughter. DS1 is quite loud too , so we always give a ‘phew’ ?, when they’ve gone. Great to see them though (in small doses) ??.

Keep warm in your factory scentia And keep smiling. ?.

Let’s keep our chins up everyone. ???

Pittcity Thu 15-Oct-20 08:04:05

Good morning from Colchester where the sun is shining from behind the clouds.
Need to tidy up this morning as we are having the house valued this afternoon with a view to downsizing.

Happy Anniversary GrandMattiethanks

NannyJan53 Thu 15-Oct-20 08:02:53

Good morning from a bright Black Country, with a clear blue sky.

Off down to Somerset today, where our caravan is stored now until the Spring, so we can winterise it, drain down the system etc. Will be back on Sunday evening, as we will probably pop to Bristol on the way back to see Partners daughter for a short while. Weather looks dry for a few days down there, but doubt will will be basking on the beach in the sun smile

Welcome sheepandcattle it's lovely to hear about your life on the farm. You should have an Instagram account. I follow the Yorkshire Shepherdess on there.

Happy anniversary Grandmattie I hope you have a lovely day.

Wishing you all a pleasant and safe day

Sar53 Thu 15-Oct-20 07:49:01

Good morning everyone from a dry and cloudy Essex by the sea.
We had a lovely meal out yesterday for DH's birthday and a very brief visit to his younger daughter and grandchildren.
Supermarket shop this morning and DH out for a few hours this afternoon, putting the world to rights with his mates.
Happy Anniversary Grandmattie, have a lovely day.
A big hello to all new good morningers. Have a pleasant Thursday and stay safe everyone xx

brook2704 Thu 15-Oct-20 07:37:08

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a cold start to the day but dry and a very warm welcome to all our new posters. Lovely stories sheepandcattle I’ve no knowledge at all of life on a farm but it all sounds very interesting!
Happy Anniversary grandmattie have a lovely day ???
DD2 has just messaged to say she’ll be on her way soon dropping the DGC off again this morning so I’ll be busy again today - will try to catch up with all the lovely news later!
Take care everyone whatever the day brings ?

dragonfly46 Thu 15-Oct-20 07:37:08

Good morning from a dry Leicestershire.

Yesterday took on a strange twist. I got a call from the hospital asking me to go and see my oncologist in the afternoon. When I got there he apologised for not giving me radiotherapy back in March and wants to start it now. I had the scan etc and am starting on 2nd November. My consultant is ringing today and I will have more news than her!

Cases are shooting up here so no more coffee and meals out for a while although we are in tier 1.

Happy Anniversary Mattie

Lins1066 Thu 15-Oct-20 07:35:19

Good morning Mick and all. A lovely sunrise here on the S Welsh coast, clear blue sky and pink streaks to the east. Domestic tasks today, laundry and we're defrosting our chest freezer. Hope you sort out your freezer problems Mick.
Happy Anniversary grandMattie. Welcome to the new posters.
Have a pleasant day everyone.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 15-Oct-20 07:30:03

Good morning Mick and all

No idea what the weather us like as I haven’t opened the curtains. I have been awake since 4.30am, I have got myself into
a worried mess. The reason is one of my DIL’s is taking me to Lakeside today, pre Covid I would have been so excited at a mooch round the shops and a nice lunch, now I am really nervous!!!

Keep safe and well folks ?‍♀️

Happy Anniversary grandMattie ??

NanKate Thu 15-Oct-20 07:20:54

Morning Mick and All

Light blue clouds in South Bucks now.

Happy Anniversary grandM ??. I wonder how many couples in this generation will be able to celebrate Silver, Ruby, Gold Anniversaries.

I too am learning Spanish grandM but online and I am surprised that I have stuck with it and am enjoying it so much.

Nothing much planned so I have no excuse but to clear up the mounting mess on my desk.

Good Morning everyone from Oxfordshire
Dry and cloudy I think.
I always catch up a day late so hi to imaginethis and bassgrammy and a belated Happy Anniversary to Harrigran
Sheepandcattle lovely to hear about life on the farm.
I come from a farming family and enjoyed your post.
I always loved it when the cows were moved to a new field tails up!
Enough reminiscing as I had better get moving and off to work.
Have to make chocolate dipped shortbread later to take to work tomorrow.
Bit of a signature bake and so always worry they won't be up to scratch but will see!
Thinking of missing GNs and all with worriesflowers
