They say a picture paints a thousand words and there have been some lovely photos on GN recently. I am a visual person and, especially at this time, pictures cheer me up. Autumn scenes, people's gardens, cake baking, craftwork, pets, clothes we fancy buying etc. Even stock images of Boris, royalty etc.
What is the general feeling? Are they superfluous or do they add another dimension? Are we "allowed" to just drop them into a non photographic thread?

That lucky young lady looks as though she is at peace with the world. She has a tranquil view.
She's a bit flat faced however.

Did she draw Pooh Laura? So cute!

LauraNorder Sun 25-Oct-20 15:27:22

My granddaughter’s work.

This lovely cow comes to my garden fence every day to say hello. The rest ignore me.

I didnt know that Spangler.
I was watching a squirrel on the bird table the other day. It clearly didn't fancy the dried meal worm that I'd just put out!

Spangler Sun 25-Oct-20 14:19:55

Absolutely gorgeous! I have a crab apple tree that the blackbirds love, surprisingly, the squirrels seem fond of the crab apples too.

Namsnanny Sun 25-Oct-20 14:14:09

Took this before the Blackbird devours all the berries!

I drove up the hill to capture this view this morning.

Before Autumn gives way to winter and we lose the leaves altogether, a couple from a recent walk

At this time of the year, just as the clocks go back and if the rain holds off, you will be rewarded with a magnificent sunset.

More photos from The New Forest, these are not my own, I hasten to add, but seeing the animals isn't rare. If anyone has ever caught the Lymington to Yarmouth Isle of Wight ferry, chances are the otters have seen you. If you were very lucky, you would have seen them.

Hello girl. You mention Easedale. We once stayed in a holiday cottage on that small island for a week. It was a great time.

A couple of years back, we went to a wedding at a wonderful location. It's a place called Horsebridge, a small community just north of Winchester.

The venue was a restored former railway station. So much work must have gone into it. The first photo is of the station's origin, the second shows how it fell into decay and the third was how it looked when we were there.

For the wedding there was a large marquee erected backing onto the platform. It was wonderful.

Hellogirl1 I do love the sheep on the patio. There was a farm close by at a place that we lived years ago where the sheep would hungrily scoff the bread that we had thrown out for th birds.

Ellianne, it’s a great thread. I don’t think I’ve ever looked through any other GN thread twice. I hope it goes on and on

I’m really enjoying everyone’s photos. Re the wild boar piglet Spangler, we have wild boar visiting here, not too often thankfully as they dig up one particular patch repeatedly. I’ve seen them rarely. But then I don’t get up as early as I used to. grin And then there are the (illegal) hunters.

Greyduster Sat 24-Oct-20 18:10:53

Woodland waterfall.

Greyduster Sat 24-Oct-20 18:02:47

Well he’s scratching her back! What else would he be doing??. Bit of a ménage a trois going on though!

Ellianne Sat 24-Oct-20 17:58:37

Pretty wild boar piglet Spangler, the ones I encountered in France were grey.

Ellianne Sat 24-Oct-20 17:57:18

A bit of a naughty donkey at the Donkey Sanctuary. Half term starting well here! What are they doing grandma?

^Oh Spangler those pictures melt my heart!
What's the 3rd one?^
It's a wild boar piglet. There has been a program of reintroduction in various parts of the country. They are being carefully managed.

Ellianne thank you for starting this uplifting thread. Spangler, these New Forest pictures make me want to just reach out and stroke them!
