They say a picture paints a thousand words and there have been some lovely photos on GN recently. I am a visual person and, especially at this time, pictures cheer me up. Autumn scenes, people's gardens, cake baking, craftwork, pets, clothes we fancy buying etc. Even stock images of Boris, royalty etc.
What is the general feeling? Are they superfluous or do they add another dimension? Are we "allowed" to just drop them into a non photographic thread?

I love them blush I am beyond redemption.

Well I could count the ways on the fingers of a fingerless hand at the moment, so if I don’t hit him over the head with the lantern, we’ll see what “Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow” brings?!!

Shame on you Kitty! I had you down as an aesthetic kind of gal! Anyway, now I’ve succeeded in lowering the tone, more tasteful lights and candles please!

Just added some lights and greenery to fireplace mantel today

You go ahead, laughter is good for the soul and we did say to think outside the box too!

Pretty display lemongrove.

Took a photo of a sparkly shop window today... sadly it included my reflection which added nothing to the aesthetics of it!
So here’s one of winter sunlight from yesterday’s walk

Lisagran Wed 02-Dec-20 22:03:28

That’s lovely, grannyqueenie

Ellianne Wed 02-Dec-20 22:07:07

The water was very still here in the west country too *granniequeenie yesterday. Makes us feel so restful.
I've just realised both pictures have a sheen of light!

grannyqueenie Wed 02-Dec-20 22:24:33

lisagran, that star image is beautiful, what is it?

Ellianne, lovely photo, isn’t light fascinating the way it can change a scene completely. Believe it or not this was taken yesterday too, about 30 mins later further round the reservoir!

Lisagran Wed 02-Dec-20 22:26:01

It’s the inside of a metal dish - black on the outside / gold inside

grannyqueenie Wed 02-Dec-20 22:32:45

Ah, I see, thanks lisa

cornergran Wed 02-Dec-20 22:40:05

I love this image from an NT house, it looks so cozy and inviting. Can imagine sinking into the sofa with a book.

cornergran Wed 02-Dec-20 22:41:11

Some peaceful and beautiful images here, thank you all.

cornergran Wed 02-Dec-20 22:51:31

Some Northern lights to add to the mix from a truly magical time last year.

grannyqueenie Wed 02-Dec-20 23:29:14

cornergran, I can imagine that too, also the sequel i.e. me needing a helping hand to get up out of that very comfy looking sofa! What beautiful images of the Northern Lights.....they’re on my list!

Rainy day, can't go for a walk, so found something to do in the kitchen.
Hopefully it will brighten up later.

Loving all these photos/ This is when 1 went to Powys Castle last December with DD and girls to see Father Christmas.

cornergran Thu 03-Dec-20 11:39:09

We'd gone with minimal expectations, seemed safest, then were so lucky grannyq, saw them three nights in a row Mr C took the photos, I just watched and became an impromptu tripod smile.

cornergran Thu 03-Dec-20 12:07:59

Here are some more pre Christmas images from Avebury Manor this time last year. Not the best with an ancient phone. I'd forgotten how much travelling around we did, perhaps a good thing we're grounded this year. tchsmile

I like the tree and the lit up houses ,cornergran, but the soldiers hanging in the tree seem rather sinister, or is it just me?

A wet day today called for a black and white image this afternoon.
